- How fast can a Ford F-350 4x4 1-ton truck really be? We find out on this episode of Run What You Brung. This is a 2008 Ford F-350 with a 6.4L V8 Power Stroke twin-turbo diesel. It is tuned and modified to put down big horsepower and torque. How much torque? We don't know, as this truck was not dyno-tested. Watch it run 1/4 mile at a mile above sea level here.

Greasy ol tune an a seta injectors with the right turbo you're good to go probably run 14's full weight
Take the weight out, learn to launch and get into the 13's with the Ford.
If that Dodge is actually making over 600hp, it should be low 13's.

That's why you forge and polish bullet proof and delete before you start trying to build more then 30 psi I have had zero issues out of my 6.4 built by me tuned by innovative. 983 rwhp fuel only next upgrade propane injection 9 second 1/4 mile truck maybe lol we will see in a few weeks

Yes people do add weight to any drag car that you see. Its for the weight transfer and traction
You don’t know anything about diesels if you want him to feather the throttle, and you don’t know much about drag racing if you think weight isn’t added for traction. NPK cars, promods, etc. add upwards of 700 lbs. behind the rear wheel for traction.
What was funny is the guy in the ford started way late and had no boost and still beat the crap out of the Dodge AND had 1000 pounds in the back

I got a similar set up in my ford 6.4 with 4:30 gears and it gets out of its way no problem

I completely agree, however if you have no traction, and cannot afford drag slicks, then a tidy tank and a tool box will do a fine job of keeping your tires traction. on the other hand, if he took it out like you say, and launched with no boost, he would probably still get traction and be lighter and able to run a quicker time

You obviously don't understand why adding weight would make it go faster. Adding weight would make it go slower, but when you can hook up the tires you need more weight to keep it planted. This isn't a gas motor, its a diesel with a ton of torque. And its a daily driver why would he change the tires just to race when he hardly if ever races?

I not nit picking just a bit confused? I own a Ford F-550 with the 6.4 and had a tuner on it. Do not continue to run that tuner or that engine will blow costing a cool $15,000 if you hire it done. Your adding weight - changed gearing and your now having traction issues as seen you leaving the line spinning front and rears. Try some different tires other than stock BF tires such as a tire with more pavement contact. Lose the added weight- cut the HP back and gradually add more HP. I run my 65 Chevy short box pickup and have deleted anything possible to cut weight and your adding it? I know its apples and oranges but less weight requires less HP it's as if your chasing your tail here. Not criticizing ok just a suggestion. And don't dump your go pedal off the line if you are having traction issues. You should get that low 14.00 or less just takes time learning your truck. More HP is not always the best thing if you can't get it to the pavement. Good Luck, Thank You

My 6.4 is pretty modified I have yet to run a 1/4 mile hope to within the next few weekends but it runs a pretty consecutive and always low 7s first time I launched it after resent upgrades it ran a 7.892 after a little adjusting my fastest is 7.211 based off of my actual drag car my truck should run mid 10s in a 1/4. Guess we will see in a few weeks

At 3:50, the dodge runs an 18.12. If that thing is supposed to have 600+ horsepower, why is it slower than my 300hp F350? I ran an 18.09. 1996 F350, intake, exhaust, tune. Why is he slower???
I had a 2012 6.7 power stroke and it ran a 13.9 I now have a 16 ram 6.7 and it's not half the truck the ford was.

Those tuners seem to know what they're doing when tuning pickups. However, WHY are they rolling coal? Isn't that running rich, i.e. NOT the perfect tune? I've seen 2,000HP/4,000 lb-ft torque, 12 L turbo-diesel big rigs do pikes peak while smoking tires, but none was rolling coal. Is this just an "image" thing, or is there a performance benefit?
I would take the weight out and then run again just feather the throttle to get gong then give it all it has u will do munch better

+Kevin Rogers Not really....its the emmisions system that fucks them over, the internals are strong as fuck and with deletes and a tuner it shuldnt have any problems
+Riley Kirk The emissions systems are crap yes, but the 6.4 still has too many problems. You can run them like in the video for long before the engine takes a shit.
stayunique91 Most of its problems are directly related to its emissions system. The head cracking, stuff like that was because of extreme heat and/or failing egr cooler letting 800 degree exhust into the intake. IT did have some non emmisions problems like snapping rocker arm bridges, but nothing that would cause it to blow. Have you seen how big its connecting rods are? they are literally 2x the size of a 6.7 psd, granted the 6.7 has higher quality metals used but its still 2x the size. Im not saying the 6.4 is good, but its by no means a shit motor. A cummins is better in every way...now if only ford hooked up with cummins.

Adding al of that weight was stupid. A 6.4 with a 310 hp spartan tune can pretty consistently run low 13s and even high 12s. I know their videos are usually like a mile above sea level so that slows it too... but all that weight was definitely slowing it down still.

Well a 650hp cummins should be laying down at least 1200-1400 lb ft not almost 1000lb ft and i have seen many with less power run faster times, my 93 4x4 manual cummins runs 14's with 60hp injectors turned up pump and hx35 and it dynoed 313hp and 706lb ft

+Kevin Smith That doesn't affect forced induction motors like it does naturally aspirated. Or so they say in the Ike Gauntlet videos. But I'm sure it does have some effects on air induction with the air being thinner at high altitude

When it makes as much torque as it does and doesn't have trac bars and launches hard on a drag strip it's definitely going to wheel hop. And on top of that It's a truck made to tow so it'll have stiff rear springs
