What about a book about a young girl that befriends an old woman who allows her racism to bleed through so much that the girl decides to do something about it. The old woman is NOT happy about what the girl does and comes looking for her. Read what happens between the pages of the book: One Pale Summer by debra phillips
I will have to check out She a would Be King and Woman of Endurance. I loved Vanishing Half, Yellow Wife and House of Eve. I enjoyed Davenports but not enough to continue the series.
This was an awesome video. Love hearing about so many different books that most other booktubers aren’t reviewing. I found a few to add to my list. Thank you.
Hi Lex, if you're thinking about some historical fiction you can't beat Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini. Elizabeth Keckly must have beenan amazing sister and Jennifer Chiaverini gives her a wonderful voice. The audiobook is really good too narrated by Christina Moore. Some of the people over on Anne's channel, In Search of Wonder also put me on to Hanging Mary by Susan Higginbotham. This was another great HF from the Civil War era. Mary Surratt earned herself the dubious distinction of being the first woman the government ever executed. The whole affair was really tragic, not one of our better collective moments. Mary was more or less just guilty by association and happened to be Irish catholic, not a popular minority in the U.S. in 1865, and she was handy, so...yeah, not good. But the book is excellent! Hope you Enjoy!
I think you’d really enjoy “Women of the Post”. Historical fiction as well. Really good. Have you read “The Personal Librarian”. Loved that one as well
I knew you were going to have yellow wife on this video 😂I remember you said you have 3 copies so of course I bought it based on your recommendation. I hope to get to it soon. More to add to my list ❤️
Okay. When I get to my computer I'll have to add some of these to my lists. Have you read Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker? I came across the title and I'm thinking about reading it, possibly along with civil war nonfiction. Thanks.
Yes! The vanishing half. I liked the cousins and how they came about. It was very touching and written with taste. I read it within the same year as you. 2022 I felt the same as you all the hype and then when picked up my copy and read it I was like 😮😢😊
The book about Anne Lowe is amazing I read it in one day... Could not put it down. Now that I know Piper is the author of that book, I will definitely pick this one up! And the Davenports.. Bay-beee I cannot wait for book two. LOL , A booktuber said they didn't like this book and I had to unfollow. Sorry not sorry. lol The true back story about the patriarch in the book and the coach company he started post slavery is a good one.
Hey guys, I have a form to let me know what content you would like to see. lexreads.com/video-requests
