A well researched history lesson by Lee Bach, phenomenal music/writing, and Mel Besher/"Jelly Roll" Johnson making magic with all of it = a great Saturday evening! Thank you to all you fine gentlemen!
@@MelBesher thanks! I love it. I am a sucker for western American history. Our indigenous peoples, cowboys, and mountain men have always fascinated me. I love this song because it imparts knowledge and history with a great tune. I hope all ages will listen to this song. I will share it within my "tribe" for sure. On another note - my wife and I are loving Iowa! We have pheasant coming into our western tree-break to roost and we are enjoying having them as neighbors. I love the peace and quiet again. We have great neighbors that gave us bushels full of vegetables and fruits when we moved in. Very good and nice people. I don't miss the concrete jungle or the noise of north Tejas. Btw...I went down to central Tx for a friends celebration of life two weeks ago - it was fantastic. She had the Windy Hill Ranch and it was always a mecca for musicians. She donated the ranch to Songwriting for Soldiers as a retreat. She asked a fellow retired Marine Infantryman buddy of mine if we wanted it...but, we told her it would be better off giving some combat veterans a sanctuary of peace. We had a great time remembering her and our old cowboy brother of ours that had the place and all the good memories there. She, like our old cowboy friend, had her ashes shot out of a Spanish Degullo cannon into the west pasture behind the house. It was perfect and beautiful. If you get a chance, check out my Marine brother's music...his name is Chuck Hawthorne and he is on Amazon Music and Spotify. He has some music on UA-cam as well. He is as stand-up a guy as you can find...he will be administering the ranch for the veterans. If you ever get up to Iowa, please know you always have a "patrol base" with us. Plenty of places to sleep, eat, and peaceful land. Would love to meet your son one day as well! That young man is super talented like his Dad! I wish I had just a drop of the talent you two possess. You both bring me a lot of joy with sharing your talents and I am forever grateful! "Stay out of the wire", Amigo!
That all sounds good & right Rex. So glad Ya'll have some good neighbors! Good neighbors and good relationships in general make a place feel like home. That funeral reminds me of that scene in Northern Exposure where Chris catapults his old buddy across the lake. :) I haven't given Emery or Linda too many ideas on my funeral other than they can play Don McLean's Vincent if they want, and maybe play Peaceful Easy Feeling when they lower me down? :) As always, appreciate the compliments. It was just passed from Grandpa, to Dad, then to me, and then to Emery. :) I'll definitely check out your buddy's music. Thanks for that, and for the invites, and " the friendship. " I worked out a little Indian tune last night that I might post soon? You take care bud. Thanks again!@@rangerk9
