One of your best videos! Thanks for showing all the side by side comparisons.
My pleasure!
Great video Paul demonstrating the end results using filters and polariser. Liked how you showed all examples at same time.
Interesting knowing polariser has an effect even in minimum sunlight, were you at an angle to the light direction as read somwhere that for best results, being at 90 deg to light helps with polariser.
(made me smile when you said "spin it round and your rocks will go dark, thats some filter)😄
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative vlog Paul, getting something out of a day where you couldn't get where you wanted to. A lovely spot
i try to get someting
Hi Paul I am a relative beginner and appreciate your videos so much, learning lots and thank you so much.
maybe you should come out one day for a 121 and learn with practice
I did walk straight up through the grass where your first image was taken but it was a hard slog. We will go up again when the mountains are snow capped 👍
it was deep haha ok mate
another interesting video Paul, some useful information on the polariser filter that I totally agree with, you have just proved that with your brilliant images, thanks again.
Thanks 👍
About the polariser...I use it in 95% for landscape and sometimes for street photography(windows with reflex). Great vlog again Paul!
Cool, thanks
Love your vlogs it is almost like being there with you. Good info today and liked the way you made some really nice images in not such good conditions.
i like to bring you with me
Hi mate. Great shots and Vlog. I just love waterfalls
Many thanks
Thanks for your informative vids, love em Paul thank you
No worries
Enjoyed the video as usual Paul.
I have a poloriser but to be honest i forget to use it.
The last shots that you took were my favourite ones.
you must try it more
Great video Paul , I use a k&f one most of the time
Good stuff
Thanks again Paul love watching your Vlogs, I get to see more of England in your videos as well as watching your true self coming through. all your tutorial and product review are great.
your very welcome
Great images
Thank you
Good as usual l bought cokin filters long time ago never used them.
they were all you could get one upon a time
Excellent CPL and ND filter demonstration Paul. Unfortunately I don't have a polariser as yet due to the fact that I have the old style K&F rectangular system that has two slots for ND filters or grads but sadly no way a circular polariser can be used. Obviously K&F were aware of the problem and brought out a new design that enables a CPL to be inserted into the holder. You did a demo on it a while back. The magnetic system that you use is probably the best though as it is so much quicker. Just have to sell a kidney! 📷👍👍
they are all expensive
If you’re only after the summit I think it’s easier to take the path behind Pen Y Pass and come round to it that way, otherwise it’s just keep on slogging through the undergrowth.
On polarisers - a few years back I just started leaving the polariser on most of my lenses. It’s decent protection, and easy enough to “turn off” if it isn’t giving you any benefit. The only lens I don’t do that on is my 10-20mm because it’s way too easy to ruin the shots at wide angles (had a whole morning at South Stack ruined because I was too lazy to take the polarisers off)
i use to leave t on all the time
Excellent vid once again! I noticed at about 16:30 (when you were describing how you had your fall) that the OIS was set to on on your lens. Do you not bother to switch it off when using your tripod? Does it make a dfference? and did you have the IBIS in the camera on or off? The images look superb so it hasn't affected the results!!!!
I try to turn it off when on a tripod, but it gets knocked in and out my bag and i dont notice it, alwats a good idea to check but i forget.
Okay, I'm going to disagree with you, specifically regarding the conditions.
In dull lighting the polarizer and filter were making hardly any difference. Where there's a lot of reflection in bright conditions a polarizer is going to help, if you want to make the water you're shooting more translucent ..... personally, not bothered; but each to his own. Darkening skies, yeah .... but easier and more selective in post, rather than having to reverse engineer the file.
Filter to make the water flow .... shutter priority, no probs ..... or manually closing down the aperture and extending shutter time. Only really need a filter if you're shooting for a shallow depth of field on a bright day but still wanting that water to have motion blur, personally I ain't a fan of Sugimoto; but each to their own, again.
You are always full of great info ... i could see a lot of difference in the water maybe you need to be there to see it...
