Still remember when finding a captains chest was truly something special
Honestly I wished sometimes I could forget everything about the game and start over
@@loanraymond9654 That would be ideal. There is a lot of new things technically speaking but they all came out so slowly over 5 years, being somebody that has been around since the alpha, I'd play an update and the new content would become boring very quickly and just another one of the things you've done a thousand times until the next update. If I had just now started playing, I'd probably be thrilled with how much there is in the game but as somebody that has been around since the start, I can only see that there still isn't enough.
@@skyblue2708 I really get you. All of these new UA-camrs coming into the game is really good for their content because they’re just exploring all the game has to offer. A lot of older UA-camrs are still stuck on under 10k subs because of the lack of content the game had meaning the creators couldn’t post good content back then. I really wish I started this game in 2023 with no knowledge
Remember back when a captains chest was a rare and wonderful find....and then you saw your first loot pic of a ship loaded down with them and just went "HOW?!"
The day they brought harpoons out, a mate and I parked our ship ontop of Ancient Spire & anything tall, never forgetting the early days 😂
I wish more companies had replayable voyages like the veil. I understand it would make the veil less unique but the order of souls has, or rather had, the sword of souls and the gold hoarders still have an entire island, the merchant will probably get a voyage related to the grand maritime union.
i would love that yes i would be a long one but hell it can be fun and relaxing
I mean Im pretty satisfied with the state of the merchants but the order of souls is just boring for such little payout so I would much rather it be OOS that gets the new voyage
I'd say oos deserves an update, it's just the same content from launch combined with a repackaged world event. They deserve better.
Wow, Order of Souls was changed a lot over the years!
...
It's probably time for new quests for the main factions, which could use the module system as well for variety. Although coming up with a few brand new puzzle types for each faction could be a challenge. That being said, there have been a few things from adventures that could be repurposed into new mechanics. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
All the factions need a handful of new voyages to do.
The order of souls should get better quests. Like hunting down harder captains with unique abilities that drop really good loot like stronghold skulls. Or even hunting down skeleton lords. And maybe even a really really special voyage where an island is covered in that green fog and you need to kill all of the captains and skeletons and destroy all the beacons or things that are causing the fog. Then the final wave has a skeleton lord or one of the really tough captains I talked about before.
I would sa thats too specific but gold hoarder vaults exist so yeah
Wait, I don't remember thieves haven runs ever being 1 per month. Unless this was just until the Ships of Fortune update, I remember doing like 12 in one day to get from 15-20 in athena
If I just want to chill, nothing beats the lost shipment voyage for Merchant Alliance for me. I just love that voyage. However, I also agree about Legend of the Veil. It's a great voyage. I'd even say it's my favorite. However, I've done that voyage 100 times, 98 times solo. After doing it 100 times I just can't bring myself to do another one. Just thinking about doing one now makes me ill. lol
I usually play with two friends on a brig, but sometimes I also solo sloop. Since I roleplay my character as a merchant, I like doing merchant quests in my own time. But I only do the regular shipments. Whenever I try to complete a lost shipment solo, a stronger crew appears when I'm at the final location, either before or after I clear the wreck. Seriously. Every. Fcking. Time. The only time I didn't sink and fail this voyage was when I loaded only half of the wreck's loot (because I was lazy) and sailed to sell it. A reaper ship closed in as soon as I left the port after selling. They would have gotten me with all my loot if I stayed at the wreck longer to load it all.
I swear, this quest is cursed for me.
I've grinded so many Veils, but mostly to get level five emissary so I could do the emissary quest. Since the emissary quest guarantees an Athena keg, of which I needed to sell 50 of for the ghost helm.
Me and my buddy had it down to a system.
Step 1: Complete a veil, claim emissary quest
Step 2: lower and re raise flag, start another veil while at the outpost (this would normally overlap the Island destinations for both the Veil and Emissary quest)
Step 3: Complete emissary quest and 1/3 of the Veil (This almost always guarantees grade five Athena flag)
Step 4: Sell and repeat step 2 & 3
I just love doing Ashen Vaults, I'm a solo player so the Devil's Roar, although a pain in the butt, is the safest place for me to do voyages. The hauls are massive and the payment is amazing. Love doing 2-3 a day in the weekend.
I do not miss Thieves Haven Runs being the meta, but they were a really fun way to get some PVP in the beginning. You could almost always find a boat there, and you knew they were bound to have some Athena loot.
Sometimes you had the whole server vying for the loot, the battles could be epic but also a recipe for toxicity.
I would love more story quests like legend of the veil in future
You remember your first fort takedown if you played Sea of Thieves in Year One. You cherish it, feed off of it, then raise your fist at the clouds and these young'un pirates with their Ashen Winds, Skelly Fleets and don't get let em get started on Forts of Fortune!
I've always said that there needs a huge overhaul with the quests. Make all of them like Legend of the Veil basically.
I also think that within it's 5 years of existence it's kinda bad that there's only been ONE new kind of voyage for each Trading Company.
Gold Hoarder Vaults, Ghost ships, Merchant map quest dealio, and the Legend of the Veil. All of the others are just the same old same old that players have been doing.
As a day 1 eye patch owner, i really want to emphasize just how much people farmed those few early quests, for such little reward.
Newer players are spoiled.
I remember farming loads and being happy about having 200k gold
I was jumping up and down for 10 captains chests
Yes. Got a new account at some point in 2021 after having played the old one since 2018. It took qbout 3 months to get pretty much back to where i started
1. The vets are being spoiled to, it isnt exclusive to newbies.
2. Most new players dont actually stick around for long because they usually get mercilessly sunk while someone spams RODL.
3. Gatekeeping a game is silly.
Amazing summary of all Voyage types! Always enjoying your vids
I really hope they bring back the Accomplished Bone Crusher Wheel. That is by far my favorite cosmetic, and I can't help but feel like I'm being punished for not playing the game soon enough by permanently not being able to unlock it now.
The same can be said about all of the other time locked cosmetics.
Its on the shipwright for 1500 dubloons(blue coins not paid currency)
@@gewuerzwanze5627 I know I wrote this right before the update lol
I remember grinding the old merchant quests... relaxed times
I’m under the opinion that gold hoarders should get a quest either repurposing the shores of gold or adding trap gauntlets with huge loot pools at the end.
i really hope sea adds more types of enemys on land and sea and more types of voyages it would be awesome to have a sea serphant miniboss like the meg and kraken
I think a new order of souls voyage could be a skeleton lord hunt where you have to go kill a skeleton lord either one of the classic 3 or the 4 ashen lords and they have less loot only the skulls maybe a bit more but they are a small personal boss fight also useful for the commendations
Adventures and Legend of the Veil and Tall Tales are proof that Rare can change certain places/npcs for whatever crew is doing the voyage/quest that causes that change while keeping the environment the same for crews not doing it. There is loads of potential in this yet Rare seems more content with doing just 2 week adventures that add nothing new to the game and are just a lazy reuse of assets already present in the game enough. Nice one Rare.
my favorite voyage is the merchant lost ship because legend of veil always has 1 statue that takes an hour to find
Been playing since Alpha, and I remember there weren't treasure chests and the riddles did not guarantee any specific treasure. You could've spent 20 mins doing the riddle and only end up with a Castaway.
We used to cycle through voyages just to make sure we got treasure maps (X maps)
Nothing really changed in the matter of treasure not being guaranteed. You can grind voyages for an hour, only to be left with nothing when someone comes and sinks you.
What recording Software Do You Use?
I wish I played at launch or even during the beta tests. Glad to still be a year 1 and a half player
i played 4-5 years ago did my pirate legend and dissapeared its time to get back to the sea!
From a dead sand box game, to a flush rich game! I only regret not starting sooner, but then again, if I started sooner? Would I still be playing? Either way i have no regrets
One singular ball
my fav voyage is the legend of the veil
always fun and easy on a sloop
They should give reapers bones a bounty quest. This would allow the crew to see a player ship on the map, regardless if they’re an emissary or not, as long as the ship has been on the server for an hour. Sinking the ship would award emissary rep, faction rep, and bonus gold to the loot stored on the sunken ship when sold. This would hopefully help the reaper problems.
This is a bit unfair you should have to earn the right to see emissaries. This could be awarded as an emissary voyage and the handed in flag could count as double or sometbing
Lvl5 reaper emmisary quest idea: it works like hourglass pvp but only against other lvl 5 reaper emmissaries. (Across servers) rewards include guaranteed reapers bounties but only to the winner
The Oos need a new voyage as they are often the least i see people doing
Merchants already have 3
Goldhoarders still have 2 aswell but they are already easy to grind
Order of souls used to have 1 voyage type. Go to a bunch of islands and look for skeletons.
Thanks rare but i dont need a voyage for island hopping
my favorite voyage was catching those chickens and pigs in crates and delivering them.
Typical partner... shipwreck quests could be a bit buggy at launch and shipwreck wouldn't spawn.... 2023... shipwrecks still don't spawn, completed them on the week of release, my favourite quest I still love to visit from time to time! But hey! If the brown leaves my nose then my life doesn't exist... Great review!
I wish I could complete a skeleton fort for the first time again.
1:23 lmaoooo someone tried to kill your ass but missed
When did the Athena run get changed to 1 per month?
They changed it shortly after it dropped and then changed it back
8:38 💀
Despite playing since 2018 I only now in 2023 got PL
you took 5 years to get pl?
@@infinitypeaches3329 yeah I stopped playing for a while cuz of lag
The world event was pretty good but it only happened every 3 hours so wasn't great for grinding.
And the Ashen stuff is worth double
Where can I find the commendation about owning 15 ships... bile rats ??? And the one completing at the tall tale commendations .... gold something? ❤
Tall tales have their own category. And owning ships is in the ships log not the pirates log
Mercenary voyages should make a return as well as older things such as, golden sailor cannons, arena cosmetics, golden legendary ship set and giant flameheart skull cloud.
The ghost fleets are back but i miss the talking cloud roasting me
damn
Forgot to mention the ghost ships :(
Hunters call needs an update
A ant crawled into my iced tea. I accidentally swallowed it. Why.
Ball
Hunter's call has needed voyages since they were added. Fishing in SoT isn't very fun to begin with and the game severely lacks sea life. They should expand on that and could drop loot for the factions as well where they combine Hunter's Call into the other factions benefiting both the main factions and hunter's call. Merrick has been dead for a long time and they haven't progressed the story at all in regards to the Hunter's call taking action. That's their family patriarch and they just sit there boiling water all day and night.
Ray
Daniel
Kinda a shame how obsolete most of them feel these days.
I think you mixed up Thieves Haven Runs and the skull voyages. The skull voyages were one per month. Thieves Haven Runs were never one per month. Thieves Haven Runs were designed to try to get new players and Pirate Legends together (see Rare promotional materials), hence about half the loot being gems. For the most part, Pirate Legends would get galleons and speed run them for the Athena loot. During that time, it was valuable to new players to go to Thieves Haven after Pirate Legends were there to pick up all the gems littering the ground. They just had to watch out for the players living on the island.
Legend of the Veil: "Destroy the fort and the loot will spawn.". Wrong, the loot is already spawned and unprotected. People are going over to the fort entrance with rowboats to steal loot. Rare failed in this as the loot should be locked away until the fort is finished.
The loot only spawns once the final emplacement is destroyed on Legend of the Veil.
You can see this in the video too.
And yes, I did mix up the skull stash and Thieves Haven runs.
@@AShinyRay then how can I get on the final fortification and handle the loot while someone else is still fighting the fort? The loot is already spawned and stealable. I've done this multiple times and I've seen streamers use this tactic to their advantage to steal the chest of legends.
@Ian Belletti the loot will only spawn when the last emplacement is destroyed. You can get on there before it's destroyed.
That's simply not happening because it doesn't work that way, never has.
And you aren't doing that because it doesn't work like that. You're just misremembering.
@@AShinyRay I just did it last night. Try it for yourself before dismissing me.
You changed the thumbnail so now I click on the video
🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮game
New players from the last few years will never appreciate the true grind many players went through in the first year at least of release. Grinds such as the merchant were so grindy and tiresome it was horrible lol. Compared to now where u can find a shipwreck with like 15-20 merchant crates inside lol..
