@@orlanestoce527 Er... you can see both of its eyes facing forward when it's looking at the camera's direction, right? Besides, a 360° vision would mean virtually no depth perception, which is kinda important to a sight-relying predator.

A mongoose probably could have killed that cobra; unless it's a king cobra (too big at adult sizes for a mongoose to take down) or a spitter (ranged attack), mongooses generally come out of top against cobras (they do much worse against vipers, though).

Lmao. I actually feared for the bird several times in this footage. Took his eyes off the snake a few times. He was lucky. Looks like the snake must have experience of fending off such predators.

it was a bluff. eagle tried to get him to strike so it can pounced. the snake def kept its composure but the snake had all to lose. the eagle would prob always win the fight just wasn't worth the offensive attack.

@@raghu852 forest cobras dont spit, this eagle was in the process of killing the cobra, until the humans showed up distracting the eagle, he had already badly injured the snake, notice the blood on the cobras neck around 2:00, the reason the snake is giving half hearted slow strikes is because his neck badly injured, a cobra strikes way faster than what this one is doing.

the snake is badly injured in the neck area, from the eagle, which was in the process of killing the snake, until the humans came and interrupted his dinner, the poor snake is so badly injured he cant strike correctly

as disappointed as i am about not seeing an outcome from these two animal-fighters, i'm happy nobody died horribly, and that no sicko got glorified OR gratified from the video!! in other words, this wasn't a 'scripted' encounter where someone tossed these two into each other's paths trying to get them to fight while making it seem "organic" when it wasn't Nature simply happening. people who do that PISS ME OFF! The snake knows very well that the eagle wanted it to strike to make it easier to grab its head. The eagle plays smart by pretending to look away so the snake would strike so it could easily grab its head

Lucky? That's superior predatory skills and reflexes. Lucky cobra the eagle keeps getting distracted by the surrounding noise.
I think the eagle wanted the cobra to start committing to strikes so it would have a chance to grab its head when its body was extended. The cobra was smart and played it carefully.

This is really an amazing match-up. Seems like similarly strong predators, given their normal prey types.
In the case of the eagle, it's keen eyesight, razor-sharp talons and powerful beak could potentially grab the Cobra by the tail and take flight, bleeding out and banging around the virtually helpless Cobra along the way.
In the case of the Cobra, it can strike with lightning-fast speed, and if the eagle's talons missed their mark just once or slipped, the Cobra would/could strike inserting its deadly venom into the eagle, and even though the Cobra is not a constrictor, it could still wrap up the eagle, grounding it...then the Cobra would have a good chance for more bites at the eagle.
Lightning fast once it gets a chance to absorb some much needed sunlight; he looks quite sluggish thus vulnerable at the moment.

People are biased against snakes and tend to root against them, but think of this situation from the snakes perspective.
You're a small, cold blooded reptile about the size of toy dog breed. Sure you have venom, but any predator that you bite has a high chance of killing you before it saves you. You also don't see very well, move slowly, and can't even hear in a traditional sense, only being able to feel vibrations in the ground.
Not only do you have to worry about mammal predators like the mongoose, which are much faster than you, and secretary birds, which can easily kick you to death, there are threats in the air that you won't even know are coming for you until they're driving their talons into you at high speed.
All you can really do is bluff and hope they go away.
But they gave eve the fruit tho
