- I figured since nobody really makes how to videos for the xB in general i decided to make this to help people visualise and see the steps needed to install a 2 inch lift.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR CAR BY WATCHING THIS VIDEO
If you want to ask me any questions or just follow my builds you can reach and follow me at my instagram which is @James.himself
Best of luck installing your 2 inch lift kit ✌️
Can't wait to see how it turns out. More videos please!
HELLO WHERE DO YOU BUY THE KIT?
Extremely helpful man, about to do the same on my xb soon!
Thank you for documenting this. Saved.
Love the first gens I've had 2 and I fucking love them
I currently have 4 😅
See this what I should of done first to my lift kit rear spacer for my lifted xB2.5. I had them quick spray the spacer. Before winter. After winter, it’s full superficial rust.
Which I should of gotten powder coat.
Could've rented some spring compressors
@@adamc2867 nah nah nah, thats not the redneck way. Hose clamps and a bench vice ftw
Bro what happened I'm a toter bro as well🤞🔥👌 need to see more content. Like I wanted a video on that snorkel looks sick
Nice work, I grant you "Redneck" status. LOL
@JamedAmaral how much was it to get it powder coat on spacer kits?
And does the shop u took, can also do sand blasted the superficial rust and get it powder coat? Or maybe get another set for better approach?
Yeah so im in Canada and it cost me $125 my money to get them powder coated. You could take them to a shop and the process will clean them up before they powder coat ( they get dipped in a bath of acid)
@@James.Himself can u recommend which is the best shop for that? Canada or us, I’m sure we have both shops for each state and country
@@toyotabrony i went to a place called Rim Doctor up here. Hes not a corportation so i doubt theres any in the US. Really anyone who can powdercoat things should be able to help you out. I just went to that guy because he redid my rims on my other xB
@@James.Himself gotcha. And yeah I’m sure I can walked to someone in the shop
Cool deal man! Looks like you're the guy I need to speak to!! Looking to do the same thing on my 2014 XB, any advice? Having a hard time finding a leveling kit that would fit. thanks!!
I genuinely know very little about second gen xBs but there is a facebook group dedicated to lifted xBs. Its called Lifted xBs on facebook and there would be better people to ask in there about the second gen
I don’t know why so many people resist removing the cowl. It’s so easy and makes life nicer.
BTW, does that mean we can call you Ghetto James now? 🤣
So, hot water and baking soda mix will clean them battery terminals nicely
You underestimate my laziness 😂 and hell ya Ghetto James is tight 😂. And yeahh i should clean the battery but refer to my first sentence 😅
So how does it ride?
@@leo959 much better then the slammed one i have
Since this is the ONLY video, any chance it turned out goo-baa-goOod?🤔
Wdym? Lift wise? Yeah im still running it. No issues to complain about
@@James.Himself I want to lift mine and make a mini stealth camper. But at 325k + miles.... The crank is starting to wobble and it's rattling now. I've put A LOT of miles on her in the past week.
Why didn't you use 2nd generation springs???
Havent found any yet is why
And that requires dropping the subframe and extending the steering shaft and rear shocks which i didnt want to do
@@James.Himself gotcha. Thanks for video!!!! Wish you had one for the snorkel
@@kaitlynwiley9340 yeah i kinda just sent it like i do most things. Its not too difficult. Feeding the intake hose was the hard part really
@@James.Himself more pics of it please if its ok with you
Whene is the next video 😢
Most ppl just remove the shock at the bottom. Real easy to remove springs then.
Rears that is…
@@mmodawgg 🤷🏻♂️ this was was easier for me. I didnt have to reconnect stuff on the ground then
Removing from the bottom allows the complete rear assembly to move as much as the suspension minus the shock/s will allow. Easier removal and install. Less work. Just passing on info. 👍🏽
@@mmodawgg removing the top has the same effect. Id personally do the top again as i wouldnt want to mess up the lower bushing. Either way will work 100%. But i dont have to lay back on the ground to reattach the top. Plus lining up the bottoms would probably be less fun. Either way both ways would work. I personally think the top works better 🤷🏻♂️
👍🏽
What's the biggest tire size you can install on your xb , with this lift kit ?
I have 235/75/15 on it right now. You can go as big as youd like depending on how much work you want to do
@@James.Himself gotcha , and do you have any rubbing issues at all ? Did you have to cut anything out to make that tire size work ?
@@JoseCardenas-tv6vv oh 100% i have 1 full rotation of steering wheel in each direction till it hits, the rear bottoms out but i cant cut anymore fender or ill be in the door. I have a photo of it with its wheels on my IG @James.himself . I need to do a walkaround video of it at some point
@@James.Himself Thanks for the info , definitely looks a lot better with the lift . I have an 06 xB and was just curious about what a lift would look like .
@@JoseCardenas-tv6vv yeah feel free to check out my ig or if im not lazy ill do a walk around. Not sure if youre a part of the fb group but theres Lifted Xbs and there tons of info and pics of xbs lifted there. With better fitting tires. These just happened to be the smallet a/t tire i could find 😅
@JamesAmaral How’s ur cold air intake snorkel kit?
I always want one of these snorkels for my lifted xB2.5.
What model does the snorkel belong to, to put on ur lifted xB1?
It was a bitch to install because its for a Jeep cherokee. I wanted it flush with the body line so it comes out right behind the headlight. I ended up crushing the flex tube they gave me so im looking into retrofitting some cherokee headlights in to give it more room and then replace it because i put a few holes in it crushing it :(
@@James.Himself how long was it to get it done?
@@toyotabrony the snorkel? Id say maybe an hour. I did it slowly on a spare fender i had in the winter and then just swapped fenders in spring
@@James.Himself wouldn’t a snorkel do the job done to handle through weather conditions? It’s not really necessary to remove for oem
@@toyotabrony ive driven with it in a bit of snow slush and rain and its fine. Its angled so water from above cant get in
Was it hard to fix the camber. Problem
What camber problem? I had none when i put the big wheels on
Did you have the lowering coil springs in the back .?
No. That would defeat the purpose of a lift. I now have second gen rear springs in it
@@James.Himselfsecond generation springs instead of 1st generation? How does that change things??
@@tonygibbons5 its about an inch difference roughly. Theyre also stiffer so i dont sag as much. With first gen springs id bottom out and hit my fender off the tire. The second gen springs paired with rear shock extenders i made remedied that issue quite well. I can now have rear passengers and not bottom out on bumps
@@James.Himself nice 💪
where can you buy this?
From a dude called Randall. Join the Lifted xBs page. Hes on there and can get ya sorted out
Did you have any rubbing issues?
With my big tires? Lots
Will these fit on a 2013 scion xb?
No. But he does make the lift for the second gens aswell
Did you ever get new tires? Pics
Yeah i did. Im not going to lie i have no idea how to do that on youtube but theres a photo posted on my instagram at the moment if you wanna see the monster truck monolith... @James.Himself
How about the springs? I finished my struts today. 06 scion with 09 springs!!!
General grabbers. How you like them? Size?
How can I find this?
Hop on facebook and find the group "Lifted xbs" and finid Randall Randode West. He makes them
Thanks brother 💪🇺🇸
How much did these run?
I paid $410 USD for these and drop hubs for my other xB i think theyre roughly $300 on their own though
@@James.Himself I'm ignorant. What are drop hubs? My other question: aside from spacers, is there anything else to modify or replace? My biggest concern is changes in angle for the driveshafts, but again, I'm ignorant. I'm sincerely and desperately trying to get some more ground clearance for my wife's 2015 xB because she has to drive over some bad terrain on her commute and it's really messing up our ol scion
@@Limescale12 oh man thats a whole different thing i dont really know much about man. I only know first gen xBs not second gens. And drop hubs are for my slammed xB to make it lower my apologies. As for driveshaft angle its not too bad. My axles almost hit the subframe/knuckle. With a subframe lowering kit it wouldnt though
Can you go on the free way
Yeah?
Lifted xbs
Do you have to join to see any thing
Fancy seeing you here. It's 3dzprints. I'm thinking of doing this to my box now, too. Glad this video is here!
If you ever have any questions feel free to DM me on IG or FB. I can send you videos of how i have it now (although not much has changed) or anything you need to know
will do thanks bro @@James.Himself
