Slow Your Troll - Using Trolling Plates - GSO Fishing

A trolling plate acts as a brake on the motor while idling, allowing the boat to reduce its speed. The great thing about these trolling plates is that the springs allow the plate to kick up when you're motoring full speed across the lake and go back down when you slow down.
You can find these trolling plates online and in most major sporting goods and marine stores.
Be sure to check your plate often. We recommend replacing the bolt once a year. We replace ours in the Spring to ensure that it is in good shape for the Summer fishing season.
