All you need to realize when you watch these guys play live, the whole left side of that venue is bent at a full cock eyed 90 degree angle trying to see what Henson's hands are doing. Pure fucking just musical bliss.
this is singlehandedly the most impressive performance i’ve seen. the cohesiveness, the guitar work, the insane drumming, clay putting everything together. just absolutely insane.
When you are moving around it makes no difference if what is playing is slayer, polyphia, or even mecrophagist. It pretty much sounds the same. But when you stop to listen you can understand what they are doing

This is music for the sake of music, not for dancing or something. Just like Bebop, unlike Swing, it was made for just listening so the crowd's stiffness is pretty predictable. However, all of these fans in here saying "Yeah, they're just stunned and amazed about the performance. That's why they don't move" man idk. Besides the fact people that comes to the shows are hella different from each other and with different skill levels and first glances, some of you might be joking around and stuff but for the ones that are serious about it (lol), as someone said in the comments, *most of the people in the crowd are musicians* ; and boy, musicians are constantly analyzing and rating the other's playing along the show. I've seen this thing so many times it's dumb to read some of the comments in here; even some of these people are just evaluating the live playing more than enjoying the whole stuff, sadly. That's what we got to learn from emotional fans of other kinds of genres. They're living a whole different experience not concentrating on the musicians' missing notes but feeling the music in a more "synesthetic" way. That's a life lesson for many of the obsessed musicians out there, they become technique snobs who just got an eye for music robots.
I very much agree. Musicians are very ego centered and often listen to music with critisism and compare them to other musicians. I often catch myself in the moment of listening to a song, only to analyze it rather than enjoy it... It's a curse really. We should rather take in the creativity and create something our own, than to judge others for not doing a good enough job
I mean, the ideal is to have both, a technical and well-written composition but one that obviously appeals to one's emotions. Heaps of Polyphia fans are fans not because the music is hard to play but there's also an emotional connection that they've made with the song. The reason why musicians are "analysing" these guys' music is because they've never heard it before so wtf are they meant to do? Music made for listening is far more musically integral than dance/pop music, yet more enjoyable because the same emotional connection is there plus there's the factor that these are talented people who can produce music no one else can, unlike these awful pop singers nowadays.
I saw them live and I can say most people are just standing in amazement lol the show I was at though was a bit more life people were bopping a lot more
Michael Proano to answer that most of the crowd of prob Guitar players cuz this is guitar player music so there prob just looking at the technique and shit ya know
@@nathang1184 I'm just saying cause I play bass, even been in a metal band as a bass player, I guess I've played some harder lines on bass than these ones, but I'm not saying this is basic stuff. My point is that the other instruments are next level stuff. As I see, this band is totally driven by the guitar lines, the bass rarely has its highlights, and when it does its very poor. It sounds like its just a fill instrument, it doesn't create an idea inside the song.
Most of the crowd are probably musicians, with this type of music most fans are musicians themselves, observing and experiencing the technical ability rather than feeling it. Alot of other genres have more emotional experiences from the music, but with polyphia thats not really the focus.
I prefer to see a band play music ..not play arpeggio , with if you are lucky some forced sounding odd time... it goes no where your time would be better spent watching a Hamster run on a wheel
If a band puts a lot of effort into making a complex, technical and well written composition, people will bitch. But if a band puts an easy chug djenty riffs, people will also bash them saying no variety and diversity of skills. We just cant seem to please everyone now, can we?
To all the people complaining about the crowd let me just say that the crowd is 75-85% musicians admiring the talent of the whole band.
Right!!!
Fr
yeah,,, If I were there I would be looking at how they play it live.
source?
Quit giving the crowd hate. All of them are stunned and absolutely paying attention to them.
Agreed. They sound like a normal rock crowd for the first 8 seconds. Then it hits them, this isn't normal.
@@captain26 they were like this for the whole song tho
Tim is wearing a sweater, the drummer is shirtless, and the other guitar and bassist are in short sleeves. What is the temperature in this venue?!
Lmaooo 🤣
The temperature is Yas
@@n3wmgmt118 I think you mean Yas
@@wafi988 I think you should read it again.👍
@@n3wmgmt118 nice move
crowd is too shocked to even move.
Its 69 likes and i dont wanna ruin the position lmao
3:16 best part of the song, hands down
Dreadnöught__ yeah cus they allowed the drummer to actually fucking do something.
@@jamesbennettdrums bruh the way clay plays this live is fucking brutal, listen to the details and those hihat rolls
The drummer is getting a full body exercise x). This genre is brutal.
Haha how do you think he got so ripped😂
What do you call this genre tbh?
Ajay Gupta Christian gospel math rock
Pretty much goes for any drummer it's an entire body instrument!
@@AjayGupta-tr7vz Modern neo-soul or Modren mathrock
You could even debate that this can still fall into prog if we consider Plini prog
best live performance of the song
this whole show was so fucking surgical i'm blown away
+Get Brutal Ikr.. Tim's sweep picking progression is just as awesome
but with the worst crowd lol

This crowd is the best. No screaming and freaking out. Let people enjoy the song. No one would hear them if you yell out your lungs
Nah bro just went to one of their new shows where it was nearly a mosh pit, that shit was a vibe, and it didn’t take away from the music as all
Funny you say that cause at the show I was at they were shouting over their own songs and asking for crowd surfers 😂
This is so incredibly tight. they are playing all those hammerons/pulloffs on different parts of the neck in sync...SUCH TALENT...WOW
drum solo at the end was spicy 👌👌
this is singlehandedly the most impressive performance i’ve seen. the cohesiveness, the guitar work, the insane drumming, clay putting everything together. just absolutely insane.
This is one motherfucker of a song! Tim played more notes in the first minute than I’ve played in my whole life lol
This song just brings me pure bliss. Nailed it!
this song is hard af. love all these guys
The composition of Clays beats is dope
awesome recording quality! Thanks for that A38 Rocks
Best live performance of this song..
Tim looks very cool with the Ibanez guitar 🤘
According to the camera person only Tim exists
1:58 oops finally I realize Tim is human
2:10 Tim Henson es humano, 100% confirmado
Those ones doesn't bother me at all but the chorus is a bummer I confess
LOL they even on a higer BPM crazy talent
I need to see them live, some of the shit the drummer pulls off..
Tim's chops are just so good. Crowd kinda lame
ikr I've seen people crowdsurfing to this song on another show I saw on UA-cam
crowd is full of respect enjoying the spectacle
Idk, I would be torn between staring at their amazing playing or jumping around

I love how perfectly motionless Tim always is
Love the sound man
came here for this part 2:48
amazing into a whole new level
fucking god that solo got me pregnant
and then, after all of that perfect playing, they BARELY clap. This crowd was such a bummer
yo anyone know where i can get a sweater like that? looks comfy as shit
That's how it's done on real musical instruments for those of you 25 and younger. Badass shit. Neil Peart lives on......
This is why I think aliens live among us.
MONSTER
Kawai bass vibe inspired? Those chords are friggin moe lol
You mean future bass? Then yea lol
It’s nice to have chops. The song is incredible. But the crowd is standing still because the band is standing still.
i dont think its even possible for the band to move with the shit they play. usually polyphia crowds are way more into it though.
Let's see you run around while you play this song.
There is no human that could play this and move around at the same time
Aí fode né
Gooooooood :)
so many technical parts all the time. it must be hard to fully enjoy playing a gig like that
yeah, but does it djent
Dat drummer do
ohhhh so thats who stole my grandmas sweater
did anyone else noticed Tim's mistake?? lol easy to hear
fucking floor toms!
why is he able to play that live while standing up? thats illegal.
God tim's hands are so fking cute
1:42 - when you realize you should have gone with guitar
comfortably numb pink floyd
blurred lines
It's so boomer complaining about static crowds who are actually paying attention and respect to the musicians.
Go and mosh to some Slayer, not this.
Ouch Tim 2:11
Was 1:58 out of key lol
He’s only human! Just imagine just getting this far into the song. That’s impressive in itself lol
not to be that guy but tim fucked up at 2:42
sound engineers looks bored :(
Bass is way too strong in the mix.
Nothing worse than drummers with man buns taking there shirt off.
get a life
I'm pretty sure I could easily be their bassist, but never a guitar player and neither a drummer
A cmon
Most of their bassline are complex, the use of hybrid pick, harmonics, weird timing, percusaive mute, there are lotta stuff going on their bass
