Great demo and template. Love all of Abayomis tutorials on Live over the years. I’ve learned so much about this great software through his video demonstrations. 👍
It’s nice to see this kind of “ground up” production/walkthrough. Unless you’re on twitch, it’s difficult to get an idea of how other producers integrate hardware in a home-studio workflow
Check out the production streams from mr Bill. He has a 8 hour quarantine stream where you basically see the entire process from start to finish. Overall, the guy is like a straight up genius madman with Ableton haha. Tons of tutorials really putting Live to work in all kinds of ways you won’t find anywhere else
The best advice that arises from this excellent video is to make use of a template set so all your useful, go-to plug-ins, etc. is ready. I know that auditioning tons of sounds is another way to do it. But using a template set means you create more music at least in my opinion.
I’ve been seeing it everywhere lately. Other than adding some analog flavor does it have some features/functions that you can get unique utility out of for sculpting sounds? Like where/in what way does it really shine in the process of molding the sounds down for what you’re aiming for?
Been seriously contemplating getting it simply because I see a lot of people using it who really know what they’re doing lol but I think I have a really surface level understanding of what it’s real potential is/ why people use it & how it stands out from other similar features in other plugins.
@@jackhammer8061 I was looking for something to add some 'crappy cassette tape' vibes to stuff, and this worked great for that. I'm sure there are ways to do a lot of the individual things (noise, wow/flutter, dropouts, etc), but what makes this great is both the combination of all of those lo-fi tape things into a single plugin, but also the interface is great. Surely there's a demo to grab and try. They're having a Summer sale right now, too! :)
Seeing it everywhere,it probably is good! I love using camel crusher, legowelts tape emulator ableton rack, little soundtoys radiator, and some maxforlive effects too.
Really great tutorial! It's so helpful to hear your thought process as you demonstrate your workflows. Coming away from this with a lot of new ideas. Thanks and please do more!
Clearly presented, wide ranging in its use of distinctly different techniques--this really helped me glue together a more cohesive understanding of my scattered bits of Live (un)familiarity. Cheers!
If ableton cared that much about the push being displayed in the video they could have been like “hey man thanks for promoting our products in videos that will be seen by thousands, here’s a push”
Ableton lets artists use whatever they want in their showcase. Even using Ableton is optional - they've posted a video before where a guy is using Logic.
Probably dont want to scare away people that only want to invest in software first. Live is the entry drug. e.g. Tobacco, marijuana.... Push is the Cocaine. / Crystal Meth.
@@othelo989 You made me smile:D Its true. I got my Push 2 with Live 9 last year as used. This year upgraded to Live 10 while on offer. Havent done much with any cause Ive been working like mad. Planning from now on to dedicate time. Do you know any good tutorial pack ( I have plenty of videos saved) just for Push 2 alone(?) Im not on Skillshare but wonder if theres any there. Thanks.
Absolutely superb insight into an awesome workflow - this is the best video of the series - it makes those little kids in the other videos look like children! Thank you, Jesse!
pardon my newbie question but you're starting the video saying you prefer to have everything in mono : but don't you then loose some very important informations or sounds like the pads ? a pad in mono looses most of its charm so i'd like to know some more about this and your insight on the matter. thanx a lot
It's very hit or miss for me...I have a lot of hardware and find it can be out timing wise even using an external plug in. .. The main thing is to turn the channel to off...auto or in...create latency. I have an 828 motu .. I wanted to be able to have a lot running in...I assumed it surely is less load on pc as the synths are doing the work...but it can be out timing wise. So I use an external mixer then I ll bounce the hardware down to audio one at a time to avoid latency. ..I find the external instrument plug in OK. ..but it's just as easy to just do it via the channel and I find it is more likely to be OK.
He didnt even mention Track Delay or buffer settings at all to get the midi firing the external gear in time. took me days playing with milliseconds/samples to get it all perfect in time. and it's still not 100% :D
Ashley Gillespie Ableton Drum Bus has more controls than just transient control. DS-10 has additional sustain control and does nothing but transient shaping.
He's using a lot of audio files, and ableton effects are not CPU hungry. What's the problem ? If you use audio or freezing tracks, it helps the CPU a lot.
@@GuyGamer1 more cores don't help in that regard, only the single core performance counts, per track. more cores allow for more tracks. usually cpu's tend to have lower single core the higher the core count goes, there are exceptions.
Depends ... mr.bill is totally overproduced stuff.. abayomi makes more melodic subtle stuff. A lot of people should just start with that. All that processing comes later.
He’s very good, but I’m not finding these latest video tutorials very useful for a few reasons: 1) they often use hardware I don’t have, 2) they use a lot of third party plugins which are not free so not everyone can get them 3) they use Ableton features and plugins only available in Standard or Suite version, without mentioning it upfront, so you try to follow a tutorial and you are stuck because you don’t have something. I usually like Ableton mini tutorials and in particular his tutorials, but in this case I’m not happy. Thanks anyway for the effort
When I hear this guys voice I know everything will be ok.
I agree. Put him in office. Let’s get this guy going. He can change the world
Great demo and template.

I remember your older Push tutorials. Locks looking amazing my friend thank you for the great insight to your workflow!
Ableton is King 👑
This was so helpful among other things to see how a highly organized project comes together. Great stuff.
This guy is a great presenter, learned slot of the basics from his tutorials
learnt a few things from this video...very well explained and clear commentary...excellent

Really inspiring video. I really appreciate the separate use of session and arrangement view. That's a really clever way to approach song structure.
Awesome. Ableton are at the top of their game producing great quality content like this. 👌
ABLETON OVERALL Is a gift to EDM and THE best friend to HipHOP
RC-20 is so good. When I first got it I had trouble not putting it on EVERYTHING. :D

Fantastic video!
Thanks for sharing.
You are really an excellent musician and teacher. Really great video thank you
Abayomi forever!
Awesome. I love Sirocco. One of your best tracks
Perfect presentation and tutorial.
super workflow.
awesome setup.
well explained.
you nailed it again! thanks.
All ways a pro with the tutorials, I have learnt so much, great track too!
Mono mixing tip is gold!
Very informative great job!!!! I love how organized and to the point of arranging your track to get it finished quickly!!!!!!
That’s a great tutorial covering a lot. Thanks!
Really similar process here, it's been really useful thank you Abayomi!
Awesome video thanks!
ABLETON 🔥🔥
🐐 software
Great Video! Wish I could give more than a mere thumbs up!
Thanks! It's helpful to see other workflow ideas.
Super informative + helpful - will def revisit - mahalo!

Wow the unlinked envelope thing! Huge tip thanks!
Really awesome content! many thx
Finally a tutorial longer than 5 min
great video jesse :)
Wow! Really helpfull man thank you !
What is that box he’s using at @10:03 ?
Good video, but does anyone else find it odd Abayomi's not using Ableton's own Push as a controller?
Maybe it’s because it’s more of a Live 10 capture/focus rather than Push?? So it can apply more generally... Love my Push2 💜🎧
If ableton cared that much about the push being displayed in the video they could have been like “hey man thanks for promoting our products in videos that will be seen by thousands, here’s a push”

How are you able to track your hardware instruments being locked in time?

Anyone know what rack he's using for the vermona gear?
Looks like www.thomann.de/gb/km_42020_stand.htm
He didnt even mention Track Delay or buffer settings at all to get the midi firing the external gear in time. took me days playing with milliseconds/samples to get it all perfect in time. and it's still not 100% :D
yeah I still have trouble with this
External midi clock is invaluable for this, definitely worth the expense.
I agree - this part is so important. There should be a whole tutorial on this. It took me so long to work this out.
Is The DS-10 plugin the same or similar to ableton drum bus ? Has Anybody here tried the 2 ?
Ashley Gillespie Ableton Drum Bus has more controls than just transient control. DS-10 has additional sustain control and does nothing but transient shaping.
How is the CPU usage not 10000000
I’m wondering that on each of these recent tutorials. I’d love a tutorial on how to get computers to get their best performance without crashing
Yes, I was thinking exactly the same!
macbook pro 16" i9 8core
Exactly!!! I have an 8 Core Intel Processor running at 4.8ghz on all cores and 32GBs of ram and I load up a handfull of Plug-ins and its at 32%!!! LOL
this is weird cause I've the notification bell for Ableton but this video wasn't on my suggestions...but the others 3 yes
Top! 👌🏽
what hardware is he using? CPU usage never goes above 35% and he has nearly every effect being used...
Mac Pro
He's using a lot of audio files, and ableton effects are not CPU hungry. What's the problem ? If you use audio or freezing tracks, it helps the CPU a lot.
maybe buffer is set really low - on 32 samples you could get quite heavy on CPU very fast
@@hallocine Ableton effects aren't hungry? A couple Echo devices murders my 12 core processor.
The artist likely has a very expensive (10k+) Mac Pro.
@@GuyGamer1 more cores don't help in that regard, only the single core performance counts, per track. more cores allow for more tracks.

Cool
The DS-10 Drum Shaper can also be replaced with Native Instruments Transient Master
Have ableton will be giving a feature similar to cubase pro vari audio .. ableton will be the topest daw and the best .. if it has ara support too❣️😍
Very similar to my own work flow
erosion with LFO! nice!
Would love to see Andrew Huang on here!

After watching Mr.Bill's videos, all these Ableton series seem really basic from a technical perspective.
cos its for noobs or rather new customers who are entering the matrix and need decoding.

where is push ? 😁
YEAH BOİİİ
Hi, Abayomi can you train me to become a certified trainer on ableton my name is bunmi
👍
and we all can see , you dont need Push 2 :D
Ok...
invite Tom Hades please !

If you watch on mute, it looks like hes chastising your ability to make music
I thought this is Jordan Peele
Damn, ableton really over-complicates a lot of simple actions.
Try using Reaper....
This is not melodic techno......
Awesome video!
