Can't get enough of this song. You 've nailed the sound and the timing. And you do not have to hide the slide
Ah thanks buddy! I really should practice more slide playing, it's great fun, but I'm not ashamed to admit there was a fair old blooper reel in the making of this vid haha :-)
Love the tutorial, one of my favorite Queens of the Stone Age songs. I hope you do 3's & 7's by QOTSA in the future too 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks mate, it's on the list!
@@LetsPlayAll 🙏🙏🙏
@@LetsPlayAll awesome!
Aside from being a fantastic lesson, hearing the guitar in isolation keeps me waiting for the bass to enter, so much good bass that goes unnoticed til it's gone!
I loved playing bass on this song
Each lesson you teach us is like a holiday 😁 thanks!
Haha thanks Artem, happy holidays!
MEGA 👍👍
I was lucky to to see them in Manchester a few years back, I took my oldest son, they were awesome
ah amazing man, never seen them live. Bucket list :-)
thank you for granting my request, dear friend! :D
Thanks for voting! You're welcome :-)
Incredible song
Awesome man
Love that song
I believe that is what heaven sounds like
Haha I believe you may be correct there mate 😀🤘
Great song, their best!
Great. Smooth Sailing would be great too😊
Patreon best bet for requests mate Patreon.com/letsplayall
Love it and thank you for uploading this. My evening is now planned.
Have fun Matt!
Nailed it 👍
Cracking lesson! Been working on this song recently and this is the best video lesson I've seen for it 👍
Thanks mate!
Love your videos.
Any chance of you doing In the Fade?
Would love to learn this song🤞🏻
Thanks mate! Lots more to come, plan is to do them all eventually so at some point yes! We had a recent Patreon vote and emotion sickness up next 🤘😊
Love this lesson, it's super clear!
Cheers Julien!
Wonderful lesson as per usual! I will absolutely be jamming to this riff in the near future thanks to you. I also noticed on UA-cam there are practically ZERO guitar lessons for Days Of The New. Could be a great opportunity for you to fill that niche, and I would also be elated to see a high quality lesson from yourself. A man can keep dreaming :)
Thanks for bringing my playing to the next level, cheers from Canada!
Thanks man! Love Canada, visited a few times, including a 3 week East to West trip which was awesome! I'll check out Days Of The New for sure :-)
Love your channel mate - thanks.
Cheers mate, most kind and you’re welcome!
Truly awesome song. I would love it if you could make a lesson on The Way You Used To Do or a more obscure QOTSA song: Era Vulgaris. I’ve got both pretty figured out, but each one has a part that is fucking with me and can’t find a good lesson on the internet.
great suggestions, The Way You Used to Do has some really interesting tones in it too. I'll add to the list!
I've got a cover of Era Vulgaris and The Way You Used To Do if you're interested in checking them out!
Parabens Marty !! Abraços from Brasil !
Brilliant Mate
Another gem! :)
Awesome 🤘
👏👏👏 well done
Thanks!
Tuunnnneeeee!
1-2yrs I got this
Wonderful lesson - thanks - I know you are hitting the front of the amp with some pedals but what amp settings did you use in terms of Master Volume, Gain and EQ? That tone for the first part of the song is fantastic!
Thanks Phillip, same settings i use in every lesson, I rarely touch the amp at all, but Volume and Master both at about 10 o'clock, EQ at 12 but my amp has a mid boost so I generally leave that on too. The clean tone is a kind of a British clean, like a Marshall clean i'd say. Hope that helps!
Crazy the song is in the key of Ab minor and starts out the I major chord
can you use these this tutorial for acoustic?
I don’t see why not 🤘😊
What's that guitar you're playing slide on? It's beautiful. Thanks for the great tutorial!
You’re welcome Jason, it’s a custom build Dave Walsh at Eternal Guitars 😊🤘
@@LetsPlayAll I was afraid you were going to use the “c-word”. Cu$tom, that is. Cheers!
😂 yea it wasn't actually my own custom build, I was lucky to pick it up second hand :-)
Can’t imagine the headfuckery required to come up with that slide riff. No doubt some recording would have been used, just to memorise it’s parts as they were writing it
Such a great riff, Troy and Josh both have really cool styles of playing
@@LetsPlayAll Sure do. Definite southern influence with that riff. Nice deconstruct. Will be tackling this. Thanks 🙏
@@lockyp204 you’re welcome enjoy mate!
You have got the tone nailed down to a T, but you're playing it wrong. Slackervk plays it the correct way.
Thanks man, which bit are you referring to in terms of the parts? Always open to constructive feedback :-)
@@LetsPlayAll you have the slide part down, that part is good. The thing is a bunch of little stuff with the rhythm parts for the verses, mainly hammer ons and with the prechorus you have it somewhat right, it's fine. The second part of the chorus where you are playing dyads is completely wrong. I don't know the actual names of the chords but the closest I've heard anyone sounding like the band is Slackervk. If you need the link to his video, I'll comment it. I almost did earlier but I thought it would have been rude lol.
@@zgamer1154 haha no worries, I’ve checked that vid out tho and I’m not sure those hammer ons happen in the verses. At least not when they play it live and I studied a few live vids to fill in the blanks for this lesson. There’s an acoustic version where you can see what each guitarist is doing pretty clearly and they seem to do that on electrics live too. All good tho, end of the day play it how best it sounds to you, as long as it’s fun that’s the main thing 🤘😀
