I'm ashamed to admit that I forgot how good Jon Stewart was. His delivery is impeccable
My thoughts exactly, UA-cam started queing up these old clips and oh boy Jon was flawless. I appreciate Trevor but he doesn't have Jon's charm
Kevin Leugan makes Noah look like an imbecile
He was the best. The newbies are embarrassingly inadequate in comparison.
I know. Noah can't carry a tune in his song.
Nobody has ever done it better.
And now Jon Stewart lives underneath Stephen Colbert's desk.
Good... Pizza under there.
@@supergluehotty Must be lol
My how the tables have tabled...
@@Tray2323FTW no, it's a bit on The Late Show w/ Colbert. They're AWESOME!
No Stephen would be even funnier if that were true though
"AFDI is a first-amendment advocate in the same way that people from Philly are sports fans. Ostensibly they like sports. But really, they're just looking for an excuse to punch a stranger and pour beer on someone's baby."

I know - his writers are AWESOME!!!!
LMAO
Does he know philly though
I love Hasan Minhaj, but he has clearly never smoked a cigarette before.
It's a prop cigarette, tastes like ass but there's no nicotine

It's an e cigarette. Not on fire. Would be illegal.
The idea of all his lackeys hiding under his desk is adorable to me
Meanwhile, they have all moved to under the desk of the Late Show. ;-)
Bob Rolander i imagine there are just stairs under his feet that leads to a beautifully furnished apartment, complete with a pool and everything and when Colbert taps his foot they're like "shit! Who should we send!?" *everyone looks at jon*
Jon acts like a Dad. He’s America’s Dad.
Bill Clinton couldn't pull those stuff of if he would be a talk show host today.
@@anthonykerr3509 Yeah, playing under daddy's desk was the best part of the day.
I got nothing against Trevor Noah, but damn I miss Stewart.
I like Trevor, just as much... You don't lose interest watching him...
I commented on another video with pretty much the same thing.
Same.
Trevor is good.
But Stewart is a god.

*"I agree with you Jon, we should be able to shoot people."*
Every time. 😂
i work at a kindergarten, and what jon is saying about not shooting people sounds a lot like when i tell the kids they can't hit someone no matter what that person did. well the kids understand it better ^^
It was really hilariously serious thing... I'm a Muslim... loved it ... this changed my mind I'm not going to shoot anyone now 🤣🤣😛😛😛(I'm just kidding.... I'll still do it 😝😝)
Kidding kidding don't send squad to take me down... I wasn't planning on shooting anyone........ it was supposed to happen spontaneously..😝😝🤣🤣

Hard to tell someone not to shoot when you spend 70+ years shooting them.
you'd be surprised how many adults think anger is a justification to mitigate the bad ethics of domestic violence. no disciprine...

The timing and acting in the "correspondents under the table" is one of the best segments on this show. Funny and cute af.
8:44 _"Texas was fine with the concept of widespread military operations in their state in the 2000-oughts. I don't know what's changed since then- " * picture of Obama * "Oh, right . . ."_
lol
Catzilla On Military Bases not roving around the state.
Catzilla Why are you fine with the Military turning the whole of the South Western US into their sandbox? *picture of Pres. Obama* Oh, right.....
mrrossn Here's the press release from the military, which is conducting the SOCOM exercises. Note the bold part:
_"The training exercise will be conducted on private and public land _*_with the permission of the private landowners, and from state and local authorities. In essence, all exercise activity will be taking place on pre-coordinated public and private lands._*_"_
So the governor of Texas has ALREADY given permission to the government to let these exercises take place in Texas. The reason he is making noise about it is so he can play to the local Derp Brigade voting block in Texas. pretending that this government "invasion" was totally not his idea. He gets to have it both ways: cooperating with the government and at the same time playing the role of the rugged defender of Texas sovereignty. Politicians do this all the time. I believe the technical term for this kind of behavior is, "being full of shit."
www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-04-29/texas-governor-calls-state-guard-counter-jade-helm-federal-invasion-fears
I never said the Governor of Texas was or was not ok with the prospect of a US military on private land. Most, and by most I mean 95% of, politicians what ever side you choose are liars and thieves, at best. I said the people of that state were not ok with it .
Also I asked about California, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, too. why are you ok with letting Pres. Obama hold a military operation this size when if Pres. Bush had done the same the cries from your side would have put a new crack in the Liberty Bell, as they should.
mrrossn Obama isn't doing anything. The machinery of the nation's armed forces that has operated this way for decades is doing the same thing its been doing since before Obama and Bush.
And you can actually go back in time if you want and find out if any lefties were agitating about those training exercises. My suspicion is they weren't. Whats more comparing the kooky conspiracy theories of a minority of idiots to the mainstream feelings of either side of the fucked American political divide is not reasonable.
"what if I... like, haven't shot anyone in a long time"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
yeah he is a legend xD
The ONLY thing I regret is NOT watching more of The Daily Show on CC back in dey Day! He is seriously the best behind a desk on television. I never knew Johnny Carson, too young, but to me Stewart was, is and still is... the best!

"Aim for the leg."
You know what I love about this show? Comedians of many different nationalities.
Do these Texans ever listen to themselves and think "Man I sound fucking crazy?"
No.
I have literally had this exact conversation with my ESL five-year-old students. "I know you're angry, but we never, ever, ever answer words with bodies. Do you understand?" *wide eyes* "Yes..." It's not hard.
That textbook burn was AMAZING. I was raised in Texas and every time Jon showed surprise I was like "yeah, it's texas man"
“showed surprise”???
I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm pretty sick of Texas and their crazy bullshit.
Then let us leave
Crick1952 I give you my blessing...
Crick1952 Or you can just leave the nation. :) You do not have any more right to the land you inhabit than the natives did, or the mexicans who let the first texans settle there.
Hey, I was born and raised in Texas and have never left and I agree 100% with you.
1st of all u don't speak for ANYONE! Who do u think u are? President Osama
Nov 22, 2020: we miss you, Jon Stewart. Please come back.
Thank you always for being so intelligent, unbiased, self-critical, and...funny! Long live Jon Stewart!
Jesus, we need Jon Stewart now more than ever.
Disappointing that it takes a comedian to remind us “you can’t just shoot people, no matter what”, but I love how well and with humor he made his point!
You needed to be reminded to not shoot people?
"Wow you guys are missing out on that Co...Pizza, missing the pizza" every single time that part made me smile
I'm from Texas and I remember this because my history teacher brought it up in class. As one of the few democrats in my class my friends and I debated with her about how absurd it was but she just looked at us like we where crazy. I love Texas and it's and wouldn't live anywhere else, but when things get political people are just plain stupid.
Politics is literally (and I mean that in the literal sense) about how you live together in a city/state. It’s about life, and how you interact. I know how you keep politics out of the workplace, but how do you keep it out of education?
What if they wear a scary hoodie or if they are too tall for your liking?? These are acceptable excuses for killing people according to a court of law in the United States.
Isn't any Any person a justified object of lethal force.. If a reasonable person would believe they pose a threat of serious or lethal harm to an innocent person?
Let me make sure I understand your question. Are you saying, "as long as you *believe* someone is dangerous, aren't you justified in killing them?" If that is your question, then the answer is "No." Also, I would like to add "You are a crazy person for having to question that." lol
@@robertmoffatt circular reasoning. Google it.
You said a person is reasonable when shooting someone, because he is reasonable. A court is not there to gauge the character of a man, but his actions.
6:27 _"just borrow a textbook from a neighboring state, it's all in there"_ XD
I feel like Stewart's "It's not okay to inflict violence on someone just because you don't like them" frustration in that skit applies perfectly to the political landscape today.
Jon Stewart is so fucking funny. No one ever gets close to replacing him.

I love this video, one of my favourite Jon Stewart segments
never been to Texas, so can anyone tell me :
are there any sane people there ?
Dan Myshkin Austin has some pretty sane people here. It also has a pretty good university, so not all of us are nutjobs.
Austin is a fairly sane place. And you'll find the occasional Liberal in San Antonio. Other than that, you're up shit creek without a paddle.
Dan Myshkin survey say....... the number is only 3 percent my good sir
Dan Myshkin Most Texans I met are sane.
+Dan Myshkin its called Austin.
I love the whole gag that Colbert carried about everyone living under the desk
as much as Trevor has grown on me doing a great job holding the daily show down..... John stewart is the G.O.A.T.... John Oliver holds it down as well even tho he's not holding hillary Clintons feet to the fire as much as he should.
I like Trevor Noah, but I don't think he's the right fit as host for a satirical news show. His stand up material is hilarious though.
Maybe he should try to find a way to work that into TDS.
Hasan Minhaj is the one who carried out Jon Stewart legacy, by criticizing both sides. I watch only "between the segments" of Trevor because his personal input sounds more reasonable than the new editorial he follows during the official show.
Jon Stewart* Well..
Because Mr John Oliver is a neolib smitten by lo-lo-love.
Love blinds people, or to put it a straight, boring way: Love makes people be selective.
On the other hand.. HBO® was not blind in any way to choose him for that gig. Get the insinuation?
I like how he added "warlock" to the list of things that:
Obama has been called (probably by conservatives) (Muslim, Kenyan)
and
Obama actually is (Harvard-schooled, constitutional (law) professor)
its hard to believe we have to say this: just because people act stupid, doesnt mean its ok to shoot them! and those people saying it was "provocative" are implying that radical muslims can't help but take out their guns and shoot people when their god is made fun of, and we should understand such behaviour? people should be allowed to exercise their freedom without the fear of being killed! that said, this cartoon event was unnecessary and kinda stupid!
Ishan 331 It was stupid. I was always taught never to be disrespectful about someone else's beliefs. Those idiots had that cartoon contest just t piss people off. they did and the pissed off people responded.
sinister0077 of course it was stupid, but the gunmen could have responded by drawing offensive pictures too...why retort to violence?
Ishan 331 Im not saying it was right... responding with violence, im just saying if i heard about what cartoon contest before the shooting, i wouldve bet my paycheck a violent response would happen.
Ishan 331 This organisation knowingly and willingly put people in danger just to provoke an entire culture group. Reckless hatemongering like that should not be allowed. Shooting people is of course not an accepted response, but judicial steps are.
Ishan 331 Pamela Geller has been trying to provoke violence for a long time and she finally got her wish.
Hell has a special place for people like her.
Who was that girl in the first part? She is drop dead gorgeous
Poke Tyranno 58 Jessica Williams, yup she is gorgeous

I miss Jon so much. He really took on the mantle of America's conscious.
being a Veteran, i kinda have to correct Jon on something here. the part where he said that he thinks it's adorable that the governer thinks his state guard can take on the US military, thechnically, the National Guard is part of the military. would have been more accurate to say that he thinks it's adorable that the governer thinks the National Guard could take on the much better-trained Special Forces.

I am born and raised in Texas and have much family across the states. We have some serious crackpots here. Especially in West and East Texas. Many still have power. They are losing it slowly and will be even crazier in the future.

A few of our last bastions of unadulterated NEWS. We are now ONLY allowed access to RT USA and AlJazeera USA websites. The BBC has a BBC USA website now. What are they worried about us learning?
I might be wrong - but I think the Boston Globe has knuckled under too.
The Japanese bought London's Financial Times. - Nearly every skyscraper in NYC is owned by someone outside of the US.Everybody's trying hard to dump their US 'dollars' as fast as they can, though.
Remember 2 things, Amy.
1, Never ever believe anything the Pentagon tells you.
2, 'drills', 'games', exercises can and DO turn into 'real time' in an instant. The public has no clue which s which - if they know about the exercises at all.
London's 7/7 Tube (and double-decker bus) bombs were exercises seconds before. On 9/11 DICK cheney had our fighters airborne doing exercises up north. Guess who was right on site days before 9/11? FEMA.
Try your level best to get your news from ANYWHERE but here. Teach your kids this.
Miss you, Jon.
DAMN... when John Stewart is gone I'm going to have to watch old reruns of the daily show... #WTF
As I guy from Philly... love the very accurate sports reference.
The thumbnail just pulled a Mike Wazowski on Hasan Minhaj
This is the most balanced view of this I've seen, and the funniest.
The closer they got to the end, the better the show was. I miss Jon, Trevor kinda sucks. I mean he's not horrible, but Jon is why I watched the show. It's just not the same without him.
Years later, still relevant.
Got to agree with Jon on the end point about Obama. They do exercises in AZ too, and people only freak out now that Obama is president. It's like, you do realize Bush was president when they were happening a decade ago right? Like, it's fucking normal. But what do expect from hardcore political people (of either side)? They're gonna spin whatever they can. Of course in this instance, it really makes them look stupid.
There’s always one laugh in a crowd that you can zero at, and it alone makes you laugh
Do you think Texans realize they have the largest army installation in the world in their state? If Fort Hood wanted to drive around fighting Texas, Fort Hood would win. It's literally known as "America's Hammer" because it's where we keep some of our foremost mechanized, artillery and armor units and combat aviation and a huge infantry division.
+Eve Oleson Because Texans in power are pretty arrogant, often overestimating their actual worth. I've had many Texan friends who often criticizes how their history is taught, often fulled with how glorious Texas was.
Eve Oleson Cause the last time the South went rouge it worked out so well.

Nadir Soofi was a friend of mine in college. I would never image he could have been radicalized.
Texans, get the hell out there while you still can, it's not getting better.
aldi404 As a born and raised Texan- I concur.
aldi404 You want to know the sick thing. Texas is the only state in the union with the right to secede from the United States. I wish my state of North Dakota had that option.
mrrossn
No state has the right to secede. We fought a civil war over this question and the Supreme Court has outright said it's illegal.
I don't know where people get this idea that Texas gets to leave whenever it wants. The decision for it to be annexed by the United States was delivered via an overwhelming referendum (in Texas), and the only real thing of note about the treaty that outlined Texas annexation was that the US had to take on Texas' debts. Nowhere does it say anything even remotely close to "Texas gets a "Get Out of the US FREE" card".
Yeah, I'm not shedding a tear over the poor, poor slaveowners who threw a hissy fit because they weren't getting their way in federal politics anymore.
They had every opportunity for gradual emancipation and industralization come their way and shunned it all because they believed slavery was ordained by God.
*Fuck* 'em.
Okay, no. The South absolutely seceded because of slavery, and while the initial goal was to preserve the Union, in the end it was all about the South's last-ditch effort to keep owning human beings.
Don't believe me? From the *Declaration of Causes*, aka the article of Texas Secession
*"She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery-- the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits-- a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time."*
and in the CSA's Constitution, we have:
*"In all such territory the institution of negro slavery, as it now exists in the Confederate States, shall be recognized and protected be Congress and by the Territorial government; and the inhabitants of the several Confederate States and Territories shall have the right to take to such Territory any slaves lawfully held by them in any of the States or Territories of the Confederate States."*
Like 80 percent of supporters for secession from the United States that I encounter are just Neoconfederate assholes, so if you aren't, apologies for me sounding rude.
Furthermore, in the US, every time state's rights are brought up, it's always used and been used to defend horrible, dehumanizing stuff. Slavery, segregation, anti-LBGT stuff, you name it. I cannot for the life of me think of an example where "state's rights" were invoked and it didn't involve some minority getting shafted.
That desk skit was hilarious
This is funny 3.5 years even after the upload date. I don't see this reporting from late night hosts anymore.
Absolutely Brilliant - Jon !
IT IS NOT OKAY TO SHOOT PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU WERE OFFENDED BY WHAT THEY DRAW, EVEN IF THEY DREW IT TO OFFEND YOU!!!! YOU CANNOT SHOOT PEOPLE!!! YOU CANNOT SHOOT PEOPLE!!! *sighs* YOU CANNOT SHOOT PEOPLE!!! xDDD
But what if I really don't like them? Or if I haven't shot anyone in, like, a really long time? =O
8:08 I wonder if that was a veiled reference to Predator drones.
With Trevor Noah on his way out, I’m finally starting to accept that nothing like this will ever be on tv again. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is truly a one of a kind program for the history books.
