I finished this video just shortly before Mr. Toriyama passed away, and although I find his passing sad. I do find solace in knowing his legacy will live on through his art and many creative endeavors. R.I.P.
Toriyama was the character designer, though I have no doubts his brain was picked when the story was being written since some of the time travel benefits to consequences mirror the DBZ Future Trunks, the Androids, and Cell arks. We see the same concepts revisited by Toriyama and Toyotaro in the DB Super Zamasu ark. For the unaware... The future has changed. Toriyama is gone, leaving us his legacy in the form of his Bird Studio and his apprentice, Toyotaro. Toyotaro, as of now, has stated he plans to continue working on Toriyama's currently ongoing manga properties. It is unknown as of yet what will become of the Square-Enix workload, whether he'll take that on or choose someone else at Bird Studio. Ultimately, though, Toriyama had planned to retire and let Toyotaro take over everything.
Akira Toriyama was the artist of the game Chrono Trigger, not the storyteller, so I don't see it as his "time-traveling masterpiece". His own time-travel masterpiece is the Dragon Ball series, where Trunks comes from the future.
