Also, the famicom disk system allowed players to save their games. You couldn't save on the Nes, so we got password screens.
The dreaded super long passwords, and you better hope you didn't mess it up😂
Me and my guildmates in WoW (which I was addicted to at the time) loved The Guild and I still love Felicia Day and am particularly in love with her for bringing us Critical Role.
@@kmaguire7161 She really helped bring the nerd culture to another level during that time period, didn't she.
I've been enjoying the content on this channel, especially your Tomb Raider video! Question, how do you get video game footage without getting a strike or copyright claim? I'm hoping to do some videos about games in the future.
Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying some of the videos! As for your question, it probably depends on the game and company but I think the biggest problem you would have is showing leaked content, beta, non-disclosure type stuff.
This mostly made me miss the days of the old school forum. It's just a vastly superior format to Discord/Telegram and all of those apps.
@mazzysmainframe That's one of the feelings I was getting while watching the series, too.
Please excuse the audio and visual being out of sync. It's a hardware problem.
I resonate so much with that conclusion. Hell, I couldn't help but fall in love with old-time jazz after excessive doses of HOI4 and mods, taking peeks into what life was like even in alternate periods stained with that charistma.
Art deco meets steam punk. I’ve never thought of BioShock quite like that, but I can definitely see it. Kind of makes me wonder why Deco punk isn’t a thing.
Maybe it should be a thing.
Glad you found something you love doing! Very inspiring. Keep up the great work. I hope your channel continues to grow and get the love and attention it deserves.
@pianopsychgirl That was super kind and supportive. Thank you!
This channel needs more subscribers great video
@@UltraGamerAustin Thank you!
VGL is a cover band, where Tallarico mediocres his way through other peoples work, with a talented orchestra. He has made a career of taking credit for the work of others, and grossly inflating his accomplishments. He is one of the biggest charlatans in the video gaming world.
I think part of it is just because we have so much more today. More games, more soundtracks, better quality overall. It is really hard for something to stick out that way, even though there are so many great soundtracks coming out all the time.
That makes sense. Like a lot of different forms of media we are flooded now a days making those connections a little more challenging.
Your videos are great indeed! I cannot grasp it why they are not more popular.
Thank you! Perhaps it's something that will just take time or maybe I haven't found that sweet spot yet. I don't know but I will keep working at it.
Great video!
Thank you!
Great video
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Spot on. Love that video.
Finally! Somebody gets it!
bioshock will always hold a very special place in my heart, even though the first game came out the year i was born. even before bioshock, i listened to jazz/big band from the 1920s-1940s, and i had a huge art-deco phase. when i played bioshock for the first time around four years ago, i was surprised i hadnt heard about the game earlier because of how it practically pandered to all of my interests. since then, bioshock had fueled the fire for those interests, and now i plan on going into architecture (because of my admiration and obsession with art deco architecture) in the fall of 2025 when i begin my freshman year of college. crazy how something as simple as a video game could potentially change the course of your life
Wow, that's incredible! Sometimes, events hit at the right place, and the right time... Best of luck in school!
Theres a certain charm of the earlier Nerd episodes, and honestly my interest in the subject matter can vary, but overall the Nerd has endless rewatch value and i have yet to see an episode i genuinely didnt like.
I first learned of this game one year ago (I fell in love with a gamer) and I have not been so obsessed with a story in such a long time. Everything about this game is just perfect!
Good story games are like crack to me, i think this game is better than Portal, AND PORTAL IS THE SHIT!
Great game!
Yes!
Great vid! Whats the outro song?
I watch all seasons 5 times per year
I first found AVGN around 2010, and over the years I've learned so much about the history of retro gaming watching his content. From the Odyssey to the Crash of '83, the Pong consoles to the R Zone. I owe so much to James and his way of looking back on 80's/90's gaming.
James is probably the only channel/creator I have never stopped watching or gotten tired of. Still to this day I watch every video (at least the AVGN’s) Every other channel has fizzled out for me, no matter how much I loved them one point, I either matured or just got tired of them.
Bullshit
Greatest sitcom ever made.
True!
Community is peak
Yessir
Really funny show!
Pop! Pop!
his last episode though... still love him though...
I've been on binge watch of AVGN and i think the issue is that, James simply grew up, it's hard to stay original forever as your age catches up to you and you keep fooling yourself thinking you can continue to do the same stuff over and over again without reinventing yourself or completely losing what made you great in the first place. I don't think he gotten worse over the years i think time is a b**ch
Well said.
Interestingly enough, I discovered AVGN sometime in late 2010, by way of The Spoony Experiment. I was a fan of Spoony's content first, and discovered Channel Awesome through that, where I saw some mentions and advertisements someone called the "Angry Video Game Nerd". I decided to check it out on a whim and I'm glad I did. I believe the "Back to the Future: Revisited" was the most recent video at the time and I found it funny and wacky enough to make me watch more. While many of the videos in recent years have lost some of that original spark, I still enjoy and appreciate the full catalog of James' work and constantly revisit much of it, especially the earlier seasons. The fact that James has been doing this for 18+ years says a lot.
-Akira Toriyama's- A whole bunch of people's Time Traveling Masterpiece
rapture its like a place that you know its hostile, creepy, cold and dark but you still want to visit and experiment every part and element of the city, even know you proably will die getting shot by a torret or getting hit by some crazy mutant people
My favorite was the episode he did for ghost and goblins, that game was so hard and it was a great video
That's a great episode!
Great video , I was a game gear guy but played my friends game boys
That's funny because I remember being excited to try out my friends' Game Gear.
Great video and good storytelling! Love hearing about your real life adventures and nostalgic moments. Nice to remember the good times 😊
Thank you!
His vids are still funny but honestly I prefer his older stuff
Simp.
I still say they borrowed heavily a lot ideas from "City of Lost Children"
I'm from a country that never got the privilege of going through the eras of Atari, until the PS1. I got a GBA when I was 10 in 2003 and the cart was one of those hundred games in one pirate carts. Back then, I never knew those games were NES games. When I was introduced to him in 2008, my thought was "Hey, I remembered this game on the GBA! It was from an old console?" To this day, I still watch him. All seasons of AVGN would always play in the background as I sleep. That's my comfort.
Yes certainly
Hard to believe this game is almost 20 years old….great video btw
The Nerd is a huge inspiration for me. Making a whole Review Series of my own in the Nerds style is a fun project. James defiantly deserves his flowers for longevity. I know many criticize him for the change in direction or "lack of quality". I think James' AVGN Series is still very entertaining and makes me laugh. With out him we wouldn't had JonTron or even better... Scott The Woz. James has inspired many, and I hope he continues his Journey as The Nerd.
The AVGN's 20th anniversary is coming up next month.
This was for his UA-cam anniversary. I'm aware that his first uploads online were on May 25th, 2004 but it wasn't on UA-cam, thank you.
No joke. I rewatch old nerd episodes to help me sleep at night.
You are not alone.
Toriyama was the character designer, though I have no doubts his brain was picked when the story was being written since some of the time travel benefits to consequences mirror the DBZ Future Trunks, the Androids, and Cell arks. We see the same concepts revisited by Toriyama and Toyotaro in the DB Super Zamasu ark. For the unaware... The future has changed. Toriyama is gone, leaving us his legacy in the form of his Bird Studio and his apprentice, Toyotaro. Toyotaro, as of now, has stated he plans to continue working on Toriyama's currently ongoing manga properties. It is unknown as of yet what will become of the Square-Enix workload, whether he'll take that on or choose someone else at Bird Studio. Ultimately, though, Toriyama had planned to retire and let Toyotaro take over everything.
he isn't funny anymore
My one(1) request for Bioshock 4, is that they bring the horror aspect back. Infinite had amazing gameplay; but the atmosphere didn't know if it wanted to be an action movie; or scare the piss out of you. Burial At Sea is the one time that game was kinda """scary""".
AVGN is on a roll right now.
Yes indeed.
