Always love your videos. Great information. You are one of the few that tell it like it is in breeding snakes. Thank you for all the work you do to produce great content. Cheers from Alberta, Canada.
I bought a pastel/het clown girl 3 years ago as a pet for my daughters. I fell in love. I want to breed them. I wanted to start breeding them. I'm going into semiretirement. The prices were outrageous! Now I can start buying adults to start breeding. Just want to have 5 girls, and a few boys. Just looking to make about 5k/year to pay for home insurance, and property taxes on my house. Also looking into breeding tarantulas.
I used to breed Corn snakes… leucistic & albinos…. I had babies that all had a perfect heart shape marking on the top of their heads!! I eventually moved, & had to re-home ALL of them since I got married to someone who was terrified of snakes. I spent ALOT of time finding homes for them, but refused to take any money as long as they were well-cared for, & had forever homes. Well, I got divorced this past year. *regrets life choices, wishes i hadn’t rehomed my breeder Corns Snakes & REALLY misses them*
The maths is easy to do. Same work, same space but not the same price at the end. Plus, as you mention, the more high end you are producing, the more competent and knoledgable your buyers are! I think it's not a bad idea to keep a small amount of "high pet quality" such as BEL or banana to diversify your production and use the profit of those to climb to the high end market animals though 😊
RE: YB Pastel Pinstripe Pied get DG. That's basically a pet-only snake this year. Pied and pinstripe are both polarizing genes, so you can exclude about 75% of your market right there. Then you have pastel which is undesirable in many of the currently popular combos. YB is still desirable, but you might only want it on your females, so you can pair your male to more snakes while avoiding ivories. So to me personally, that's just a het DG. Super-Enchi Butter DG 1300gr - that's a $1000 'asking price' snake.
Something is worth only what someone is willing to pay. The premium prices for the past 2 or so years were hyper inflated. Some projects are now over saturated like the dg clowns everyone made them on the cheap doing dg het clown x clown het dg without adding any co dom etc. Lots of room for growth and many projects to pursue.
i posted to my reddit into the group r/ballpythons and shared my interests in breeding in the future (i’m literally 20 yrs old so i cannot afford it rn) and every single response was a triggered & stern response that it’s selfish to go into the market bc it’s over saturated & i prob wouldn’t know what i was doing anyways if anything went sideways. and it genuinely shocked me to get that torn apart jus by stating i’m curious about it & wanted people to leave me comments of their knowledge on the topic.😭 i got no helpful responses
Haha... yeah... those are mostly pet owners,... and pet owners have it out for breeders. Idk where they think their pets come from?! Try getting info from breeders, and from people not standing on a soap box
I’ve been into reptiles my entire life (specifically, snapping turtles as my pets)…. For WHATEVER reason, folks in our Reptile Community include the MEANEST, most opinionated, Karens of all time: YOUR setup is ALL wrong, & let me yell at you & tell you ALL about your mistakes & how unhealthy your animals are!!! (instead of helpful gentle guidance folks NEED if they ask.)😑 Love the video- very interesting- wish it was a longer podcast!!😊💚
What I don’t understand is, why everyone thinks they need to breed their pet snakes instead of just enjoying them as pets…. plus most people seem to be chasing novelty when there is much calm down to earth beauty on the eyes with looking at/keeping a normal. I think there sb more messaging on not breeding and instead enjoying them as pets. Breeding ball pythons is not a great business for most of us. Too much work.
This is every market. I’m big into the sneaker market and 2-3years ago a $100 shoe was selling for $400 and now it’s back to $100. All the stimulus money is gone. Every market has now leveled out
"Undercutting" is a result of a bigger issue. When there's 1000 blue-eyed lucys instead of 200, the prices are going to flatline. It's supply and demand. If you want to sell your BEL when the market is flooded with them, you either hold it until that 1 perfect buyer comes along, or you drop the price and attract multiple buyers more quickly
Your common sense is lacking, "rlly." There is no such thing as "undercutting." What you call "undercutting" is the way a free market is supposed to work, and MUST work. Oversupply results in price decreases. There is no reason in the world why just because a particular morph sells for X dollars one day, it has to (or even can) sell for X dollars the next. That's not how markets work. Prices change over time.
If you feel you need the approval from a stranger on youtube in order to succeed at starting a business then that business is probably not for you. If you have real passion for something it doesn't matter what the condition of the economy is or really anything else because drive is all it takes to be successful at just about anything! This comment isn't pointed at SNKE LTD at all, you make great videos and produce really nice animals its more just my opinion witch obviously counts for just about nothing!

Thx EG. I appreciate it!
You should rename it snake unlimited because there are no limits to all the unlimited things that you truly can do and you are amazing❤❤❤❤
Really letting out all the secrets on this one! Much appreciated video.

5k/yr is definitely doable with the right genes. Shoot me a message on Morphmarket or Instagram and we can talk

I'm doing it no matter the loss. It's just what I love to do. Do it because you love it and it'll all fall in place.

Yeah, the do-gooders ruin it for a lot of people. My advice is to steer clear of the big groups!
MILLION DOLLAR WORTH OF BALL PYTHON GAME! 👌

Exactly!
💜💚💚💜💚💚💜
Id say do not make dh clown pieds. I made combo double hets and really struggled selling them. Buy visuals or get into a more limited recessive gene.
So the real question is…. Will the market rebound and if it does could this be an opportunity for new entries into the market?
I think it's going to take awhile. I don't think the hobby can sustain having close to 40k ball pythons just on MM at all times
It's done bro. Market has crashed. You will be lucky to sell at wholesale prices now.
It's simple that's from ppl undercutting each other, it's common sense rlly

I have a female that cost me 70 dollar what ball python male can make me successful in the future
If no one’s buying, then the prices will drop.
too many breeders thinking they can make a profit. Then reality hits
