I'm using it since it came out a few days ago and it is a great addition to Cubase for me as I can now use Cubase at my rehearsal and recording seat without standing up and walking to the Desktop. I love the selection of information and functions available in the app as it allows to stay focused on making music when using Cubase during practice or recording. Great workflow enhancer for not much money!.
Thanks. Tip for those using direct connection iPad to PC. During the add device step, note the I.P. address in the lower right of that window. In my case, it came up as 192.168.0.6. You will need to enter this on your ipad to get it to connect.
Thank you very much for this great unbiased review! Unfortunately, the ruler view is a feature and not a bug... Thanks again & enjoy the season holidays!
Thanks for the update on this! I've been hoping that they would get this working as my Frontier Tranzport has intermittent issues in Cubase 12, so I was hoping for a more reliable, yet integrated remote option. I just installed the update SKI software and bought Cubase IC Remote, and everything is working great. I agree that it would be nice to have the option to display bars/beats in the ruler rather than just time code. Maybe we'll see an update with this at some point.
If finally got it to work in Android and Windows 10. If you want, please do a video suggesting use of the macro control buttons and different workflow scenarios.
Thanks again! just bought it and it is very responsive.... I also like Touch OSC, but it is sometimes kind of cumbersome just the programing.... but it is GREAT. So in the meantime, I have the 2 options now.
Yes I use it exactly for that sometimes when recording myself. Perhaps there will be an android version someday but otherwise you can try the avid control app.
I'm pretty sure that some years ago, it was available for free and you could access the web app through any browser and os. Apologize if this was mentioned in the video and didn't notice. Anyway, nice little feature, but never was too handy for me
@@MrBilloven no I never tried that but I heard about it before. Perhaps that SKI remote part has a regular web interface too. I’ve always used the app myself and bought it many years ago. It just stopped working with iOS 16 but now it seems to be fixed again.
You can just use it through any browser. Get the address from the ski window, and just input it in your android device. I use a Samsung tablet for this. (This is free, btw.)
The best controller for Cubase 12 - after the production of the Steinberg CC121 has ceased - for me is the PreSonus FaderPort V2 (one fader) together with the new version (23.08.2023) of the midi remote script written by Werner Mairegger with the extensions written by Christian Oestmann. The new version of this script can be found in the Cubase Steinberg Forum under the topic "PreSonus FaderPort 2 (2018) midi remote script". Actually, the script can do more than what the CC121 was able to do, because so far 90 functions have been realized with the script: 27 functions for each track/channel, 19 functions for transport, 23 functions for navigation and editing and 21 other functions. And all this I get for only about 170 Euros for the Controller which is compact and very ergonomic. :-)
I would love to see send and volume faders on one screen So I could for example balance it out when sending to reverb Also Does it work alright with nuendo 13?
Do you know if there is a wireless pedal for the iPad that can be used with the iC Pro app to Play, Pause and Record and also Undo and Redo, move between tracks, etc? Thanks for the video!
Any way to access the chord pads from the app and play a screen keyboard like Logic Remote? Would be great so you can work without a keyboard when you are working on the run. That was a great feature in Logic but I prefer Cubase. If I could play a keyboard and the chord pads from my iPad I could leave Logic forever.
Cheers - with the avid solution it didn't work so I'll go this route - it's a nice to have rather than a necessity as I have large video screens and Bluetooth tracker balls @ key locations round the studio.. but an iPad would be luxury :-)
Love your studio channel, thanks 'Lanewood' or should I call you Sir? ha ha To this point, I have been using a wireless keyboard to perform this kind of remote tasks while tracking /recording, stop / start /record shortcuts but this is much better & I have an ipad Pro [12.9" 2nd Gen] So refreshing to have a calm, measured voice delivery instead of the usual sales-pitch big energy sell? I have Cub 13 & a Scarlett 2i2 interface, just me not a hoard recording @ home. While it's still Mad sales time, is there any other worthy gear or software I can upgrade in the few days of sales remaining. I'm a singer songwriter with bass as my main skill, but some basic keyboard skills & use an Edirol 4 oct key controller PCR 500 for rhythm & midi entry? Keep hgood stuff coming & many thanks, pierre from Oz [-tralia, that is!]
Thank you. It’s hard for me to recommend anything as it really depends on where you want to go with your music production and what you need most to get there. I myself was very pleased with the UAD plugins finally being available as VST3 plugins for example so I got their signature edition on sale. They’re top of the line plugins and since I have a UAD card in my system already it was a very good deal. But for you it may be something completely different.
i was looking for a cool way to control the Cubase channel editor (that EQ window with the inserts/fader/EQ etc) but i dont think this app has that?? I cant find it in the manual
It did not change much at all. The faders are still small no edit button. Still chunky graphics. I just use it as a meter bridge and macro buttons that’s it. They wasted space in the arrange view by having that “ CUBASE IC PRO “ graphic that moves along with your swipe. They could have just not had that at all. The update was just to make the exact same app to work on newer OSes. It’s not quite large it’s overly chunky.
I've waited years for an update and it's finally here. On iPad 10, the response is horribly slow, it takes time just to switch a page of buttons. Moreover, the UI just doesn't fit the iPad. Wtf. It's a paid app!!! And it doesn't work properly, as well as "VST Transit GO" and "VST Connect"(*Which is paid also!). Only Cubasis 3 works fine for now.
This is very cool, however. I use a Presonus Studiolive 32SC mixer as my input interface. I'm an old school mixer guy. I like to use faders when I mix down, not a freaking mouse and play over and over again with automation. Is there any way you can prod Steinburg into getting around to accommodating us mixer users?
I have no extra pull at Steinberg I’m afraid. Just a regular customer like yourself. But there are quite a lot of control surfaces that work with Cubase already though.
