I've been learning for about a calendar year now but practice has been limited some months. I've been spending a lot of time working on my kick placement/speed. I feel like I'm doing alright but today I started really working on ghost notes. It's like I completely forgot how to play the drums. I couldn't hardly do anything. Now, I understand I just started learning these but why was it so difficult? Is that normal? It was kinda frustrating. Maybe I'm just being too hard on myself 🤷

@@opendrumlessons I can get a ghost note in on the A of 2 and A of 4. That comes easy. Now I'm working on the E+A of 1 E+A of 3. Just from the little practice I did last night it's already getting easier. When I try to add the A of 1 and A of 3 right before the snare hit it gets harder. I tend to hit my sticks together. Again it's getting better. I just have a click on 60 bpm and trying to add ghost notes in whenever. I think I'm just trying to rush myself. One thing I can say is a ghost note right after a snare hit is really difficult for me right now. Say E of 2 and E of 4. I should add I haven't even tried learning rudiments yet so that will probably help. Thanks for the reply
@@lobbyrobby That sounds like you're taking all the correct steps towards improving youer ghost notes. You could try taking your click track down to 40bpm and really making sure everything is fully dialled in before speeding it up.
