That run against Southern Miss was insane, the defenders couldn't catch him even at an angle. You've got to be bad fast to outrun a defender who's further downfield and coming at the proper angle. I wish he could have stuck around with the Titans playing at a high level for a little while longer. But I'm happy for him and his season in Arizona.

***** you can't teach speed and of course the line helped if it was bad then no running back would run for 1000 let alone 2000. Only Barry could do that and thats why he is a HOF but when they had occasional bad blocks CJ would just run around the dudes because nobody could catch him. I hope he signs with a good team this year since the Jets just declined his option

+robert johnson Maybe it took a competent offensive line for him to do so, but I've enjoyed watching him run this season. He's definitely a more patient runner.
+Shakester71 Running backs have the shortest lifespan of any position in any major professional sport. (I believe 3-4 years is the current average). They just get beat up too much by much larger, stronger defenders. I think he'd be an exceptional wide receiver or slot receiver with that speed... but he was never known for having great hands. If he worked on that he might have lit up the field for longer. The pounding catches up with most backs.
All that said, his 2k season was a thing of beauty.
He is just the only dude that is this fast and not soft. He hits the hole with purpose and gets to top speed in a drop of a dime.
At the end. Hes going so fast he miss calculates the stiff arm and looses balance after double taking at full speed and still stiff arms the guy. The defender never had a chance. Chris couldve just never looked back. Insane.

What happened to him? He graduated college & went on to have a stellar NFL career & even rushed for a 2,000 yard season. He's a sure Hall of Fame candidate & now has retired from the NFL collecting a nice pention & enjoying his family & life. This is what happened to him.

I didnt even know who Chris Johnson was at ECU. I wondered why the Titans picked him in the 1st round. After 2 seasons, I understand why now. Just watching this video before the 08 season made me a believer. After that preseason game in 08 I started following him and hes one of my favorite backs in the league. This is a great vid and I love the song even though ECU is not my favorite.

I keep watching this, year after year. The number of guys who have 20 yards on him and he's still casually walking into the endzone 20 yards ahead of them. It's like when you're doing 80mph on the interstate and some passes you at 130mph like you're in park even after you ram him repeatedly. He wasn't *just* fast, he was agile and more than willing to put his head down and just truck someone.

Chris is actually a hard worker he trains hard ever season in Orlando he used to wear a running suit and run home everyday just to get fast. so he has the right to talk because he worked hard for it . trust me i know.

I agree, that's what set Tomlinson apart from any recent runningbacks other than Peterson. Every single year he produced. It's nice to see another one of his caliber in AD.
Not to take anything away from CJ's 2000 yard season though. He had 2,500 yards from scrimmage which is the most productive season from a skill player of all time. That was truly a thing of beauty and I wish more people realized how awesome it was. Not a single MVP vote was BS, sadly the same could happen this year with AD.

my dad played ecu football with the new coach Ruffin mcneill and we have season tickets since his freshman year and watching him like transform into a super star has been great i just hope Coach ruff has good season i have meet him a few times because my dad and him are close and he is the coolest person we just need to give him a chance

Isn't it ashame that the media doesn't pick up on players this good. All we have heard about the last 4 years was Tim Tebow. There are a lot of amazing college players that will soon be in the NFL that we will have never heard of. They should have picked up on this guys play making ability when he was at ECU. I saw him play against WVU a few years back. You could tell he was special. Too bad ESPN was busy following Tebow around the country circumcising young boys...

Since he arrived in the league he has more rushing yards that any other back. Everyone considered he had a bad season but he still got more than 1000 yards in the season. Thats better than most backs. He has had a 1000 plus yards every season he has played. He is truly back now.
