- If you remember the long-running CBS sitcom "The King of Queens," then you definitely recall the onscreen comedic chemistry between Kevin James and Leah Remini. As Doug and Carrie Heffernan, the two made arguing in a funny way into an art. And their work relationship has led to a close friendship off the set.
Remini did her share of complaining about the show while she was on it, but in her book "Troublemaker," she explained that she loved "King of Queens." She also just liked to complain. But there is one way that the show, and James specifically, changed her forever. Here's why Leah Remini says Kevin James ruined her for life.

What did you think about the chemistry between Leah Remini and Kevin James?
I never liked the King of Queens!!!! She acted like I bitch and he acted like a whiny 2 year old. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...
I love complaining about things too, lols. Also loved that show & still love the re-runs played over here in Oz 😉 Great show 👍 ❤
I love king of queens...all the people staring in the show...I still watch them today on Utube.....thanks all for making my day and night. Much love.
That was true toward the end of the series. Her bitching and his conniving in those latter years were unwatchable.
But the first half of that series was brilliantly funny 99% of the time.
The show crossed over with Everybody Loves Raymond. There were a little bit in the same universe.
Their chemistry was such that they really made the characters truly believable. Both were so right for each other, to make that show one of the most funniest. The genius comedy of Kevin James contributed to the show's success. Reruns of that show are worth watching.
She was mean. Always mean.
@@michelletodd4893 But that was her Character and not who she truly was
Kevin has a huge reputation of being a complete A hole. It’s guys like this that are Hollywood
Arthur was the BEST!!!!!!!
@@JK-of6bq No that is WHO SHE IS. Look up her own father's words about her and the show. She was very mean spirited towards Kevin even though he helped her career and was nice to her.
King of Queens was one of the best sitcoms ever.
Carrie's sister just fades out of existence, after the earlier seasons.
Its my favorite show of all time. They could make crude jokes while keeping it pg ish. The stuff they pass off as comedy today is boring and thinkless.
She is smoking hot
Colluseum wife.. Do I dare? 😏
I still watch it all the time.
The show was genius. One of the best comedies ever. Loved it.
I loved the Dad.
So many great shows from the 90s into the early 2000s. It was like a golden age for tv sitcoms. Just don’t make comedies like they use to
@@toyajackson556 Arthur was THE BEST!!!! I agree with you! He reminds me of my own dad!🤣🤣😆😆 Always gotta yell just so the whole world can hear him! LMFAO!
That show was almost too real. Jerry's Arthur, let us not forget about him. A gem
I didn't find him funny.
@@RedMango55 hence my comment o being almost too real. Reality can not always be funny, mostly when your life slides closer to that period, it is no longer funny but scary, lol. But I still think Jerry Stiller had a particular role. I still think he's a gem.
@@Mr.Wiggles445 oh yes, Anne Meara and Stiller had Both a comedy skit that dates back to the mid 60s, they are one of the rare few who were both married and working in the entertainment industry for the longest while. I learned quite a bit after Stiller's death, since they had started airing KoQ shortly before then.
@@Mr.Wiggles445 their daughter was also on the show a couple of times.
@@morisn I remember watching them in the 60's advertising the snack bar at our local drive-in theater.
I think the reason it was so successful is because it’s so relatable. Normal jobs, normal life, normal problems, middle class.
And they actually did work. Now in sitcoms, they never seem to work but always have tons of money (and time). In King of Queens, we saw them work, and knew their coworkers and bosses. Made it a lot more real
I am so happy to hear her say it was so wonderful, Kevin and the show that it ruined her for everyone else... I love knowing that she loved it as much as we felt and still do.
I totally agree 👍 👌
I love king of queens!
Lies again? RU Deaf Blind
One of the best sit coms ever. So loved these two in this show. The show really made me laugh too.
I’m glad this was a positive story.Kevin is awesome and so was Leah.
King Of Queens was/is a great show, but hard to believe it lasted 9 years. I must have seen every episode 100 times, over and over. Seems like there weren't many episodes.
I still watch the King of Queens when it's on. Their chemistry is the best. That one clip they had with the stripper pole is one of my favorites, always makes me laugh!
Doug killed it on that pole ! Hahaha
That show was the best,I still watch it today
I do, too! On season 6 right now.
🤣same
@@JennMarcil I watch kings and the office over and over again lol
Me too.
The show was amazing!. Their characters on the show are as close as you’re going to get to real couples😂
Yeah me and my 10 year old son would watch it all the time
I'm still watching reruns. ❤️ the show. Great show 👏
The whole cast had great chemistry. I loved Jerry Stiller. He was the perfect choice to play Carries father as well as Dougs foil.
i can watch reruns all night long and still laugh my ass off
So true
@@lucasnader8467 I Second that ! It’s the only show that has a studio audience where the laughs did not seem forced, they were genuine because this was a truly funny funny show. Cannot stand to watch any comedy know where they have that forced laughter after every two words. Yikes 😱
Same here. This show always puts me in a better place cuz it's too real. Arthur was my favorite.😆😆
One of my favorite shows ever. The chemistry between Leah and Kevin is undeniable, which speaks to the character of the two performers.
You can tell by the way she looks at him that she truly loves him and their chemistry is undeniable. Love to see two people genuinely enjoy each other in an industry where everybody seems so produced.
One of the funniest shows ever. No actors with over inflated egos and nothing political that seems to infiltrate comedy these days! I love watching the weekly reruns.
top 5 comedy show since 2000 id say
You obviously have never met Kevin James with the "no ego" nonsense
I love this show. They need to bring it back they're not too old! That would be great!
Would love it but it wouldn't be the same without Jerry Stiller.
@@darkduane1 you are right about that. He made the show! Have a good one
@@donnataylor980 he gave it spice
@@darkduane1
Doug: Arthur your toast is done
Arthur: DON’T TELL ME!!!!
😂🤣😂🤣😂
I love the show hands down me and my wife still watch it till this day.
Weird how actors on sitcoms actually think we view one as being the main star. The viewers don't care who the writers consider the star of the show, we just wanna see a good show.
Absolutely! Many complained when Charlie was replaced by Ashton on Two and a Half Men. But the whole cast was funny and though different, it brought fresh material.
@@john172867 no it didnt lol.
@@Labyriiint haha
@@Ultamami That show was god awful with Ashton. Altough tbf it was already going downhill before that
Well Kevin was the only reason I watched the show cause he was the only one that could make me laugh
If they can start up king of queens again that would be great 🤣
A reboot...
I don't know. Some things are better left alone.
It's clearly a 90s show of it's time, a big part of what made this show wouldn't fly well these days. Times change. Also seeing them as parents now sounds like a very boring and doomed to fail concept.
I watched them growing up in king and queens and I had a huge crush on Kevin James till this day, thank goodness I found a wonderful husband like him!
Good for you and congrats. Hoping i find my king one day. I know he's out there. 😉
Is his name Doug?
@@jaya.0069 no but same characteristics
Same here! I love personality more than looks! Kevin always makes me laugh!
This show was so great, it ruined me. I went through a 3 1/2 year depression, and the only thing I did was wake up and watch the marathon on TV Land from 10pm-2am. I loved their chemistry so much, that I went out and tried to find a woman who could bring that kind of chemistry to a relationship and I failed miserably. Unfortunately chemistry, in a world where people love things and use people, is scarce and nearly impossible to find.
Sometimes women will run away chemistry for complete confusion. They rather be with a weak passive man they can control. Remember that buddy.
These are both pretty cynical perspectives. Sorry about your long period of depression and bad luck finding an ideal partner Brian - but no one can "bring" chemistry to a relationship, it takes two people. It also can't be forced, it just manifests from two honest people with similar communication styles/humor and develops naturally as they get to know each other. Also, these two characters are professionally written and fictional - it's best to not base real-life relationships on fiction. No one can have witty-banter all the time.
Fuck me,I love king of queen's,but you take the cake mate!
Same here and Frasier helped with my depression too.
Get out of the city. Or start going to church. The good women go to church
Nice to hear that it is possible for something good to come out of Hollywood
One of my all time favorite shows
I hope they get to do another project together. they work good together.
Leah Remini is brilliant in KoQ. I think sometimes people overlook just how well she played that roll because KJ is so funny but Leah sets him up so perfectly. Also, the fact that Carrie loves Doug. Compare this to Debra for Everybody Loves Raymond. Debra basically can't stand Ray after the first couple of seasons.
We all loved these two and the show. you could have a tiring day at work and a lot on your mind and sit down and watch King of Queens and laugh so hard you would forget all your troubles you thought had. I miss em.
stream the show on peacock 5 bucks a month
I live, love, love Leah Remini and Kevin James. Still watch King of Queens. I just love her as a person. She stands up for what she believes. Strong woman. She and Michelle also did a great job on the Wendy show. KUDOS TO LEAH.
Better than Friends ! It was like a modern Honeymooners !
Leah is also one VERY PRETTY WOMAN !
When she put on a bit of weight, she was so yummy!
Loved this show. Still watch every day!!! Wouldn’t it be nice if they made a remake????
No🥲
Absolutely love this show and it was so underrated. I still watch reruns today and it always makes me laugh.
@Keith me too. 🙂
No it was rated right, it sucked! Some of the story lines was so stupid it wasn't even laughable!
@@gregoryingram7561 You suck . This show was a top 20 sitcom ever
Loved it and Arthur's timing was perfect
Arthur was a hoot, he made the show complete!
Serenity now
Serenity now!
Loved their chemistry.
Loved these two great comedians and the how natural they were together
My wife and I are the real life version of King of Queens, we’ve seen every show multiple times and look at each other and laugh during every episode no matter how many times we’ve seen it. Wish they still made tv shows as funny as King of Queens.
Leah and Kevin great chemistry still watch kings and queens and laugh
Growing up in Queens, and relocating out of state it was wonderful to see places I grew up enjoying. The chemistry of the entire crew actors on the show was awesome. I loved the show when it was live on the air and I still love the reruns. All round one of my favorite shows.
This was a pleasure to watch and makes me appreciate the show and the cast even more
I never even heard about Kevin Can Wait!!!!
I would’ve definitely supported that. 😔
Nowhere near king of queens. There were so little chemistry between Kevin and his wife that they actually killed her off on the show !
The best thing for her to get out of that cult.
Well their chemistry was so good they starred together on two sitcoms. Imagine being the next guy she works with and trying to have that kind of connection. It's an impossible task. It's one of the greatest comedy duos of all times. Leah was the straight man and Kevin the funny man like Abbott&Costello, Laurel&Hardy, Martin& Lewis, etc.
This is, and always be, my favorite show! I still watch and can watch them over and over! It’s just like real couples, and not “made up” crap.. love to see the show come back!
LOVE Kings of Queens!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I think they were perfect together. I so miss that show. The only sitcom I ever liked.
Seinfeld was also very funny but in a different way.
She is timeless. Drop dead gorgeous.
She is truly a beautiful woman . Love her .
Captain shallow
The thing that worked about this show is it was realistic. It wasn’t just a perfect relationship like every other shows with couples. They argued about money, jobs, food, everything which we all can relate to
What show have perfect couples tough? 😂
The Cosby show
Leah's podcast with Mike Rinder about the Cult of Scientology is excellent.
I always live seeing those two together. They got good chemistry
They were great together. Kevin was, & still is AMAZING.
They had a great marriage on screen and are still great friends. The future looks bright for both of them.🍿😊
I knew there was a reason why I love Kevin James
Kevin James is the greatest. I saw him and his brother here in Austin and my face hurt after the show from all the laughing.
The chemistry is what made the hottie and the nottie work. It made them both realistic & relatable.
I've been waiting for this series to be available on a digital set so I can watch it again!
I, too, loved their chemistry together. I would love it if another script was created just for them. I think the second time around was jinxed because it was originally written for another leading lady, who eventually got the axe so Leah could reclaim the leading lady title.
Loved the entire cast of K of Q's. Great chemistry! Do Not forget Jerry Stiller ⚘⚘⚘
People always concentrate on the main characters but the supporting cast is just as important. I always thought Jerry was the one character on Seinfeld that would be the least missed if he left the show early on because the supporting cast and guest spots were so great. In fact, it could have carried on for a few years without him if the show hadn't past it's expiration date already. I mean, how long can grown-ups act like children and still be funny? Great show though, and so was The King Of Queens. Great title too. I'm surprised it took so long for someone to think of it? The King Of "Queens". Brilliant!
Great show!! On screen chemistry was tangible af!!!
I love that the reruns still play
I would love to see them resurrect this show with them
If Doug and Carrie were a real couple, they'd be so cool to hang with
Sooo so glade to here this...
Great show! I watch the rerun’s all the time!
There are certain actors that you will always watch when they are in the same project. Remini and James together will make a show end up on my playlist.
I don’t know if I will ever again get to watch or witness 2 people that made a show so good! They just seemed to go together like peanut butter and chocolate!
Somehow she made us believe that a woman like her could get a guy like that ! 🤣
Love these two actors. Always made me laugh.
Amazing tv couple. Wish them great success!
Four words, I love Remini forever!
I loved the whole crew in King of Queens
My favorite show. Watch the rerun episodes every day. Just love it.
I got to spend a few days on the set of Mall Cop2 in Vegas with Kevin and watching him interact with others was great fun. As he was being flown around the LeReve theater, his son freaked and the little guy yelled for daddy!
I can always watch reruns of Seinfeld and King of Queens
Two of the best shows on the air. I think Will & Grace was definitely a runner up also.
King of queens was so good, now many shows can get you dial in to laugh with almost every line
& they never needed the fake audience laughter like all of the Sitcoms nowadays.
They were great together ! King of Queens was top notched. Loved it 😊
Loved show, still watch it today
The best and funniest shows ever .I still watch the reruns
One of the best shows that was ever made !
I still watch reruns every night before bed, one of my all time favorites got sure
Loved the show . Still watch reruns every afternoon in Australia even today .
loved this show..and makes me respect both even more!!
A very underrated show. Loved it as a kid and can still watch it today
Jerry Stiller not getting an Emmy nomination for King of queens is a crime
glad to hear about their relationship... bravo
In other words this show was magic. The chemistry of the people together. Like Raymond. Or Seinfeld. The people and the characters and the comedy. The writers. Everything clicked together nicely. It is a hard act to follow a successful show with another. Oh yeah. It happens. Just not always. We all still live on re runs of these shows. Frasier. Friends. Pick your favourite. They live on for years later.....
She is awesome. I still watch this show and I don’t see myself stopping any time soon.
The chemistry was so great between every character . Loved the show
I remember when the show first ended they tried to say that James & Remini hated each other, now I’m glad to know it was all bs because on the show, they complimented each other so well.
Good to hear that they had as good a chemistry off screen as they had on screen.
Such a timeless show!
Hearing about this gives me goosebumps, Kevin bless his soul! Such an example of how a man should be IRL.
Thank you for standing up and being so brave about Scientology
One of the best , watch re runs constantly and their still funny as ever !
I can see it over and over again and still laughing so much, it is the best sitcom ever, because everybody' life situations 👍👍👍😍
I need to rewatch this series. Some great memories.
I was so afraid to watch this lol
I was like what?!? Why would she say that. I’m happy to hear there relationship was as real as the show. I hope they do another comedy sitcom together. I still watch King of Queens weekly. One of the greatest shows ever! They always make me laugh.
King of Queens was a great show. The comedy was great.
They were absolutely perfect together; I still watch the King of Queens to this day.
Both are fabulous, i've seen every episode at least 100 times
I Watch this show daily I still love it, this show , Martin and couple others are my go to I just enjoy the way the chemistry and jokes flow awesome
