Pretty interesting to see how different Derek was in these old videos compared to the new ones in 2021. I found VGG from the abandoned yellow corvette suggestion, I still have a 1986 corvette from way back in my 20’s and bought a 2010 convertible. The interest in corvettes led me to this channel and the videos were interesting/ entertaining and a great alternative / escape from all the politics on legacy TV and FB. I kept watching VGG videos and got hooked to just the way Derek learned to present them. He also gained some weight 🙂🙂 younger Derek was more serious-er
So cool to re-watch these old vids, Derek is still exactly the same, the guy has grown in confidence in front of the camera, but just shows it is who he really is...
I'll tell you what. I can do everything I have seen you do on your videos and have done a heck of a lot of it (but) it aint never been so entertaining. Thanks for putting out the videos.
We have an 88 suburban purchased when we were raising our 4 kids, our youngest was 2 weeks old. She is now 27 and driving it around. We have so many memories in that suburban I can not part with it.
I just did this to my 2009 GMC canyon. I think my phone listens to me because it recommended this one.😊. Watched a lot of the rescue videos now getting around to watching some more of his how-to's. It's all very entertaining😂. Derek's like Elvis. There's the early Memphis Derek, and now we have the Vegas Derek.😊
The Sasquatch in shorts sighting is definitely more rarer than your standard Sasquatch sighting. I almost don’t believe it, but I have to cuz I’m lookin right at it
Bleep Bloop! I’m running a 96 suburban with tons of issues, and your vids have me LOVING the work… Even started saying “Suburbillac”. Thank you, Derek and fam.
I believe this was the 1st video I ever watched of yours. I watched it a couple years ago because I need to do this on my crew cab. I still need to do it. But I have been watching you ever since. Enjoy your videos and you definitely seem more comfortable in front of the camera now. Lol
Man I’ve worked structural iron for years and now I do specifically Structural inspections and I have to say I’ve never seen two more cool words on a hat than Angle Iron. I’ve written it and read it thousands of times but never seen it on a hat. Priceless
Glad I ran across this video again, did one a couple of months ago on my '87 pickup and went out earlier today to do the other. Got everything apart and then I completely forgot how to release the regulator. Thanks!
@@ViceGripGarage That they are, just sold my 1996 3/4 ton 4X4 454 LT. But the set back is the roof height. I replaced it with a 04 15 passenger Express van with the 6.0L! My GSD'S love it more!
Just stumbled across your channel. I have a 78 C10 that I put 85 Suburban doors on. They worked okay for awhile and had to start pulling them up. Great how to video and fun to watch too. Love the 57 Chevy, the Camaro, and the Harley. All great toys to have.
Definitely more reliable than a French built car , I always duck tape the glass up first but I embrace new ideas........tomorrow I feel the need for a ratchet strap , just in case .
Your special window helper? Next time you can get you a wire close hanger and cut it about 8", bend it into an "S". Under the window, over the edge of inside of window at the wiper.
Thanks so much, this really helped me a lot on the ‘89 boat. The driver side was fine, but the passenger side fought me the whole time, I think it’s because I put only 87 gallons of grease in there rather than 90. Maybe the kids rolled some syrupy pancakes down in the guides when I wasn’t looking. Anyways, changed out the felt and fiddled with the alignment, back to factory. Thanks again, really enjoy your videos!
I started watching your channel about 3 years ago. Just watched the most recent video with the Cadillac in Springfield Mo (100 miles from me & I work for O’Reilly lol). Decided to go back & to the beginning of the channel. Just a tip for others… I have always used packing tape or duct tape to hold the window up when doing this crap. Ford window motors are a similar experience except they give you room in the door to pull the regulator out :P
I had a racing buddy who had one just like this for towing his ‘70 Road Runner to the drags. Four of us rode from lower Michigan to Indianapolis in his “Suburbilac” back in the day. It was a very nice ride. I still want to own one.
The good old days! When door panels were held on with screws. No crawling on the ground looking for clips that have falling. Knowing your going to need them to to compensate for the broken ones still in the door!
man they made that a lot harder than it needed to be...earlier GMs had an opening just pull the panel off and replace the motor thru the opening didn't have to mess with regulator at all...was the same from my '54 Olds thru my 67 Caprice....
Last August well I was recuperating from a hip replacement changed out the regulator and motor on my 03 Tahoe. Had to sit in the chair to do it but it can be done. You just got to get in there. Love your Channel.
I took mine out and that's as far as i got. Cuz I don't wanna think about trying to get those little wheels back in the track.. A piece of pvc pipe holds the window up just fine.
been binge watch the ole vice gripper.. my daily is a 90 Suburbanator.. that needs a RF window motor! :) my last daily was an 89 Suburbanator. i put 370k on it.. sniffled a bit, when i sold it.. :)
When I did this on my Jeep I taped the glass to the top of the door frame with some clear box tape. Helped to avoid the fight to keep the glass from constantly getting in the way.
@@matts.8342 Nice! I watched vids before pulling door jams on my quad cab and also how to get to the stereo head unit on 2 cars without breaking anything... also several appliance repairs!
There are usually three dimples in the door that show where to place your drill when removing the motor while keeping the regulator attached to the door. 3/4" hole saw will let your socket fit through.

Im going to back track all your videos tonight....i cant believe how hard you make me laugh...i personally own 31 cars...from the 30s to the 80s...keep up the great work...looking forward to your new videos to come😊
Love the videos! I was a Mobile auto repair mechanic for 15 years and your trips remind me of some of my adventures. I used dish tubs to keep my tools together and one for parts, it helps a lot!!
I really like your videos. There entertaining and quite useful. And mostly why is because you look exactly like my son. You have many nice cars too. Keep up the entertainment this world needs laughter.
Those are some fancy flaps you have on your door pouches feller. I don't have those on my '86 K10 Silveraydo. I wonder if a guy could find some aftermarket flaps on LMC or Brothers or somewheres
It was really nice of Boyd Coddington to let you borrow his shirt. 🤙
I’m glad to see a bottle of black velvet as part of the necessary tools. Helps with a fellers anger issues.
It's amazing to watch your transformation over the years. You're a lot more relaxed and verbal. Best channel on UA-cam.
Jus cut a really neat hole in the bottom of the door behind the carpet panel.........so easy!
Cool Truck and Shirt it's like your corvette dress timings . Glad the windows gos up and locks
love the black velvet adult beverage, thats what im drinkin right now

i had 1991 chevy suburban v1500 with barn doors, same exterior and interior colors as yours, it was the finest vehicle i owned

Finally a site that speaks to my inner hillbilly. I binge watched to catch up. Thanks for always "doing it the right way"!
You bet Brad, thanks for watching
Me three lol
Brad, are you from up on the Creek?
I'm coming back to this video because I actually need to do this. Thanks!
I don't have a Suburban. I don't have a square body. I've watched this twice. Good video. Great Suburban!
I can’t believe the door card-mounted satchels never caught on.
Good info - I like the way you trouble-shoot, bend and cajole stuff. I bet you're a good cook too.
I don’t need this lesson but I can’t stop binge watching
Would Love to see the Scared up hands of the FACTRY workers assembalateing these!!!
I love how you're trying to contain yourself in this early video! Bring the thunder!

Nice Burban! I too had a 1990 Burban. I called mine the Burbalade. I had a Cadillac hood ornament on mine. Great old rusty but trusty MI truck.

Make sure you are using silicone spray on the rubber tracks every season. Scotty Kilmer did a good video on it. Not that I like his content otherwise

We had an '86 3/4 ton 454 from '91 until 2000ish. I miss that vehicle. It was a good machine.
This helped me a lot with my 87 Silverado ..First time I tried it i damn near cut my arm off With the door panel
glad it helped!

Aint that the truth!
I can’t remember the last time I seen someone use a z28 trunk lid as a workbench. That is a clean burban.
Im just here to help the channel grow and let the adds play all the way through. Hope that helps Derrick.

An oldie but a goodie.
I'm glad you did it the right way. Most folks cut a big ass hole in the door.
