I saw them in Dallas in 1996, and they played this song. The next morning, we found out that Timothy Leary had passed.

Met Ray in Phoenix back in 2004 before he passed, what a great guy, ran into him at an IHop pancake house at 2 Am, sat for over an hour drinking coffee and talking about music and songwriting. RIP Ray, you have been an influence on me as songwriter

U gave the longest caveman guttural yell you ever heard at the Hollywood bowl at 512,and this guy in front of me turned around, really angry, but when he saw that sappy smile on my face, he just gave me the high 5.i just couldn't contain myself

Just as good today as it was back in the day. I remember listing to this song on head phones in my bunk on a submarine while on patrol in the Pacific in the 70's. Great way to temporarily escape.

@@darrellhambley7245 Hopefully, he is not another casualty of the drug epidemic and will turn up unscathed and in good health. If he has ingested a 'therapeutic' dose of LSD-25, then let us hope that his experience was enlightening and beneficial to his growth into a compassionate and empathic human being. D-lysergic acid diethylamide 25 has been a useful tool for my own spiritual growth and self awareness. Responsible use is beneficial in so many ways that one would be hard pressed to list all of them. It suffices to say that proper use enriches one's existence by stimulating a desire to have a deeper understanding of the purpose and meaning of that existence. My experience suggests that continued use isn't necessary, and more importantly, frequently maligns the role of this sacred substance to that of a 'party drug.' I agree. I saw them 5 times during the 70s and 80s. But the Rock Hall of Fame still need to induct Tull for me to have any respect for them. My respect grew a lot this year with the inclusion of The Moodys and Dire Straits.

I just wanted to post a big thank you to Moodies Fan for this song in particular, but also for the concert from Paris as a whole - a truly wonderful experience. I also grew up on the Moodies and Pink Floyd, and this is just fantastic. I don't think the music dates at all. Just so much more creative than today. The only scary thing is that this concert is 40 years old - sort of gives your age away !

Tune in, turn on and drop out. Flashing back to 71/72 sitting on the floor on a blanket. at the Sportatorium in Hollywoof, Fla. The sound crew drove the mellotron and flute right through us. At near thirty, I was just waking up to the fact that the 50's R&R was pretty much foundation and history going through a serious makeover. Today, as I listen to this, I'm 'there' once again.

I agree, but back in the day apparently a lot of people accused the Moodies of being bandwagon jumpers when it came to their"psychedelic" credentials. I guess because they began as more of an R&B group? If that's the case then the same could be said about the Beatles and definitely the Stones.

I've been a fan of The Moodys for a long time. I also love the instrument the mellotron which was a signature sound for The Moody Blues. This song features it prominently and from what I understand it was/is a very temperamental instrument to play live. The boys do a wonderful job of getting all the effects right in this song. Any experts on the mellotron to explain why it was so hard to lug around and play?

Right on target. I too, used to listen to this wiht headphones, and it does tune you out and escapte to a different world. Wonderful song. Another one to experience with headphones is their "Thinking is the best way to travel", on the same album. The sound goes from one side of your head to the other by way of going from side to front or back to other side.

I got a butters worth of energy from viewing this film clip which is actually a compilation of bloopers from the old tv show "Emergency!"
The scene at 1:27 where the Moody Blues are all together on stage and Johnny Gage runs by them and with the help of his good buddy Roy Desoto starts to administer Ringers lactate with D-5W.
...It was odd to see them grab the electric shock paddles and put liquid LSD on them and drug the band members into an instant thought of "Justin needs a tan"

This is the album track. Listen to it with your eyes closed - the timing and phrasing is identical. Maybe they distorted it slightly but its the same :-)
