- Getting past the hype and Clickbait captions, this FUJIFILM x100vi is exactly what it is represented to be. I would say that if you find this camera isn’t good enough for you - it’s more likely that you just aren’t good enough for it.

I don't have any Fuji cameras at the moment and I don't intend to get one either, but I consider a lens that is sharp enough wide open but has a good rendering and transition, and then gets sharper as you stop down as near perfect. The same goes for all those Nikon legendary AI-S lenses, where wide open they are just sharp enough which is perfect for portarits and even fashion shots , but then they get blisteringly sharp as you stop down, The 50 F1.4, 85 F2, 105 F2.5 and the superb 135 F2 are the prime examples. Persoanlly I find close prortaits shot with a lot of modern lenses that show every imperfections in the model's face and skin rather off putting to be honest.
I agree, and doing post processing softening just doesn’t match the character of a great lens.
I find mirrorless sharpness in general off putting.
Wow! I think this is the first x100vI video from a Leica shooter that didn’t turn into a “not as good as a Leica” video.
Thank you for just giving us an honest opinion on the x100vI and just the x100vI. And the 3s too.
On a side note, I went on to your website and not only do I love the minimalist layout but that first black and white photo of the woman is absolute perfection.
Awe thank you so much! I don’t think there is a comparison to be made between these two cameras. Two very separate animals and both have something very special. I personally think the X100VI is an amazing upgrade and I still love the lens! It just works perfectly with the 26 and now 40mp sensor. Loose all the hype and BS and it’s just a damn good camera.
Thanks...you bad on my bank account :) Been eyeballing the VI...thanks for sharing John
This is a camera that is definitely to taste for seasoned amateurs or seasoned pros. (Both of these groups are set in our ways). But if it’s one you can get along with, loosing all the hype, it’s a very capable camera system for sure. Not to mention the leaf shutter, which is pure heaven to me.
It’s funny, I actually picked up the Go 3S yesterday. I have the same belly problem, I just found that the easy clip has a magnet in it, so I can pop that on the lanyard (horizontal) and angle the camera up/down as needed. Thanks for the great videos as always!
Why!! I needed the excuse to loose weight and you just gave me an option not to. 😂
Absolutely right, just review what a camera is supposed to do and fine. X100 is a beauty, but not for now hehe. The go3s is tempting, I think I could use it for my bow stuff quite neat. I had the first one of the go series, was crap :D now with 4K and good light, I guess its fine
The first one wasn’t the best but who cared, it was so much fun! Now we want a little more and they came through. There is only so much you can do with a tiny sensor and they did get a lot out of it for this version
Heya, which add-on grip did you go with? I continue to lust for one of these Fuji X100 series. Owned two earlier models and regret selling those off. For me, their adding IBIS is the big, meaningful improvement.
SmallRig - I liked their grip so much on the Nikon ZF I just got this one without research.
Well, I sure would like to buy one (or a GRIII) to try it out myself =/ A&A strap? I have them for my M11 and Zf and love them. Kinda over leather now.
This strap actually came with the camera. I do like it but think it will be even better with age.
There are so many options out there that all work these days. I am not in your photography world, and would likely never see a need to own this at its price. Not complaining, just more niche to sit around doing nothing than I could justify. I want a Fuji though haha..Maybe their XS20 will scratch my itch and that way I can buy lenses I don't need and end up spending more anyway😀
😂😂 yes you will! Those Fujicrons are so damn good. I still love them.
John, we know the Leica is your preferred platform but do you have defined use cases for the Nikon, the Olympus, and now the Fuji? What an embarrassment of riches! I never bonded with the X100S I once owned but the latest iteration is appealing.
Well the “embarrassment” is quickly dissipated by 42 years of very hard work. I have been a full time photographer and have earned every last dime to be able to enjoy the gear I purchase. And I know you had no derogatory intent, but I do want to make that clear. As far as use cases, absolutely. I am finally putting together systems that I want for each instead of making do. But the 42 years of making do is what affords me these decisions now.
@@kaskoPhoto YIKES! Of course there was no derogatory intent, John! Those of us who follow your channel do so largely because we know you're not a freebie-grubbing UA-cam influencer but rather a long time working pro who pays for his tools out of his own pocket. That's why your opinion matters. It certainly matters to me.
I heard that they have orders for 3,200 units unfulfilled in Asia Pacific region!
I’d have pegged you for a Leica Q3 kind of guy.
I’m more than happy with the Q2 honestly (or I’ve convinced myself that I am because of $) but I’ve used the X100 series many times since the first version. Has some value to me
@@kaskoPhoto I can see why. It’s a very nice camera. I’m about to take a long trip with my M11, 35 Apo Summicron, 75 Apo Summicron and Voigtlander 21 F1.4.
I’ll be away for 6 weeks.
At the end, I’ll be evaluating whether the Q3 would have served better (or at least as well) or not.
If it started at 35 instead of 28 I’d probably already have done the swap.
There's something odd with the Go 3S. Your face looks blown-out. Exposure looks correct otherwise. Is it lacking in dynamic range or have you post-processed your video aggressively?
I think the problem is I didn’t read the directions or set anything up. But no, I definitely didn’t do post processing on a video. 😂 I think I need a little time with it.
I’m still waiting for my X100VI. I decided to buy the Z7II instead.
Well you won’t be disappointed with that camera! They produce great images for sure and they feel so good in the hand while you do it!
I’m waiting too so might have to upgrade my Z7 to another Nikon instead. It would be a great pity as I’m looking forward to the Fuji.
@@christianpetersen1782 I hear ya, I took the plunge & got the Nikon 135mm 1.8 Plena, which is pure perfection! I’m keeping my XT3 for my future Fuji 30mm macro.
The Fuji X100 camera line is excellent in features and quality. The only problem is it’s overpriced for what it is.
With the current prices of cameras today I don’t know if it’s too far off. It is a solid camera. And if the Frame.io lives up to its claims, it is a viable option for some pro work as well
Actually if the demand is higher then the supply it is technically still underpriced.
I've seen the complaints by the I tried it for 2 days crowd multiple times kinda shrug . Traveled a ton last few months taken it all.over just like the 5 models before it . Does what I need so let the whiners whine.
Those whiners will be selling it for a grand over retail.
