I’m a guy in his late 40s trying to get into mountain biking properly - my 16 year old son is on his bike all the time - but while I love Countdown and Launchpad I don’t have the guts to try the red trails in the FoD so fair play to you for trying !
So many good place to ride! that blue trail looks fun af! I totally wouldn't have noticed the noise if you hadn't pointed it out haha. Fabulous video as always Flynn. Absolutely makes my day coming home from work in the morning, and having a video of you crushing it to watch to wind down while I eat my breakfast 😁
This one was in England so a little further than the usual drives! Aw the noise was so frustrating, my old water bottle just LEPT out of the bottle cage on the trail in Dirt Farm, was gutted! So I bought a new one at Forest of Dean but it rattles so much :( aw I'm glad I can be entertainment for 20-40 minutes of people's day 😅
"Ooh, fuck! I just Matrix-dodged that pole, then!" Cracked me up. You were improving your berms in the first bit, especially! That red trail didn't look fun at all, by the way. I was getting upset with you, haha. This is a really pretty spot! Great stuff, as always!
I don't think I've been out on my bike in over a year :( I will get back out on it before the end of 2024! It certainly is a great place to progress, it's absolutely beautiful! I hope you guys enjoyed :)
Confidence building :), love to see it, we went there saturday just gone, amaaaazing place, def going back soon, mountain view is a great place to build confidence for places like this, keep up the good work
I'm awfully late at replying to some messages sorry :( What trail is one of your favourite there?? I adore Launchpad and I only went on it once! 😂 Oh yeah Mountain View is my "comfort blanket" it's where I go when I feel nervous or want to work on some things (especially my jumps), I highly recommend that place for beginners :)
Hey, are you still riding? I am from the forest of dean and love count down to launch pad. I have been riding on and off for 2 years. My anxiety gets the better of me every time. I can't progress from flowy to tech. I see a bit of tech or a drop off, and I freak out 🙈 and throw my toys out the pram 😂 It would be cool to see you in the FOD again @flynnrow
Hello! I think most of my comments over the last couple of months begin with "sorry for the late reply" 😂 I'm not currently riding as I've broken my toe and I'm waiting for it to heal, but I can't use that excuse for why I haven't gone out on the bike for over 6 months! I will get back to it, I just need to push myself to get back out there, even in the poorer weather 🌧 You have Forest of Dean at your doorstep then? That's awesome, I've only been once but some of the trails there are great! People with confidence must love the flow of some of those blue trails. I get what you mean, the fear of falling off really stints your progression doesn't it? Especially on more tech areas, you just got to start small and go from there, sooner or later you'll forget why you were even worried :) Does FOD have a small trail area that you can practice drop offs? :) Definitely! I'll get back there one day, when I'm back on the bike that is. I hope you're still enjoying mountain biking!
1:20 u will, its not that hard honestly. I was nervous too about such a jumps-drops but once u just clear your head and decide to just put speed in it and send it u will find out its basically nothing to be scared about those little Drops :D just always also remember that when u jumping those dont forget to look foward and not below you ^_^
It's odd because at the bike park I usually go to there's a small drop off that I do without thinking, I guess it's just because it's in a different place 😅 I totally agree with looking forward instead of below, I struggle with doing that!
Aw thank you 😁 that's a good question... I don't feel on top of the world after every ride, I may actually be pretty pessimistic after each ride because I think of what I could have been braver on or committing more to... The bigger picture is that I feel like it has improved my mental health and my anxiety, but there's a lot to still work on. Mountain biking has provided me with a hobby that keeps me fit, and helps me push through my pessimism and anxiety (not all the time but still!) It gives me an 'escape' for a couple of hours a week :) I wish I could do it more often honestly!
Baby steps indeed, I've also learnt to just not push myself to go out if I'm not feeling it. Otherwise the hobby will feel like a chore which isn't great!
@@flynnrow Oh you think so? I don't agree in this case. Discipline is always helpful, consistency whether it's bike riding, live streaming or anything else builds character. Since bike riding gives you exercise, you're doing your mind and body a great favor, long-term. That's how I think about it.
I get what you mean, although it's difficult to when you're new to it, but once you know it I can image it would be amazing! (I know my replies are SO late, I do apologise!!)

Haha, It was barely a Matrix dodge but I was impressed with my reflex 😂 aw thank you! Yeah it was a struggle, roots are my biggest enemy right now
Way to go, hope you still riding and having fun progressing. I took a few mates new to. Mtb to fod for a weekender in May, great place to progress.

@flynnrow I like your dedication Flynn, keep at it! 🧡 How do you feel after every ride and has bike riding in general improved your mental health?

Best way to carry a helmet is on the head.
I agree, unless I'm cycling 2mph uphill in the heat and hair is stuck to my sweaty face 🙃
