Truly knowledgeable short introduction to Byronic hero! I never knew all my favourite fictional men are Byronic, including Edmond Dantes aka The Count of Monte Cristo!😲
I’m in the process of shaping up a dissertation on the Byronic hero…..whilst the name may be appropriate as a ‘type’, for the archetype I want to reference backwards to Milton and maybe articulate that the Byronic hero is a derivative/evolution of Milton’s glorious satan, and an artificial persona that is not literary…do you think that might work? The work of Byron is not devalued because post Byron we gave his heroes a ‘misnomer’ that was about his media, manipulated self, rather than an innovative literary character/trope? Milton did it first? Arguably better…

Yes, he is another example.

Byron was not part of the “Satanic school” for no reason.
Excellent as always
Very interesting thank you very much!
Excellent video. I’m a huge fan of Eugene Onegin and believe he is Byronic. Anyway, subscribed to your channel.
Thanks for subscribing. I think that European literature is full of Byronic heroes, which has implications that deserve more attention.
@@LitProf Well said! Completely agree with you.
