When it comes to Jewish lore, I've heard a few things about demons or "shaydim". There are really two camps when it comes to this stuff and I've been in close contact with both. The main camp is the one that just doesn't really believe in demons and from what I can tell that is most Jews. This is where I find myself. I don't believe in demons and don't like the idea of them so when it comes to things that involve them I don't think they mean anything and I also don't wanna tempt fate just in case. Most rabbis also don't believe in them but acknowledge their belief by others and kinda blow it off. The thing about rabbis tho is they always seem to know more than they let on but that's them. The next group is the more mystical type that believe in kaballah, Jewish mysticism, the shit Madonna was into. I grew up with friends that had direct ties to the Kaballah center in California and they say some weird stuff. To preffice, shaydim in mysticism are very specific. They are people like creatures with chicken feet, that's how you know they are demons is their feet. What they can do is mimic your body and take over your life essentially, not cool dudes. The big story about them that I think put em on the map was king Solomon got into some shit with a shaydim and they took over the kingdom and disguised as him for a while. Dude got his kingdom back but it was a whole thing. What I've also heard about shaydim from rabbis is that you shouldn't mess with them and there are things to do to avoid them. From what I remember it's to not stand near a body of water alone at night and don't like say their names or something. Kaballah is weird and I like most yids don't follow the mysticism stuff. It's predicated on some weird rules like you have to have studied all the books of Moses (the old testament), other works by rabbis, be over 40 years old, and have a few kids so when you start you don't just GO INSANE. I don't subscribe to these opinions but I don't mess with it. Don't have time for these chicken feet demons, I got other shit to do. Just wanted to give info to those who might be curious, there's a lot of stuff when it comes to being Jewish and I've spent too much time in religious school to not at least talk about it on the Internet. Great vid btw as always.

Long comment sorry & going to get into some personal stuff, but I found you're channel about 5 years ago & subscribed, then a few months later I was hit by a car & in the hospital for a few weeks, it broke vertebra in my neck, cracked my skull & de-gloved my scalp, cracked my right shoulder blade almost in half & broke my left leg & shattered my ankle. So now I can't work or get out much so I get lonely & bored, had to move back in with my parents & we just have Direct TV & there's never anything on so now I just watch UA-cam on my Xbox. Talking to my therapist, my medication, weed & you're videos help with my loneliness & boredom & I just wanted to say thank you for that

Wow, thank you so much for this insightful video! I just finished watching "The Offering" and was completely baffled by the ending, but your explanation has cleared everything up. I never would have guessed that the protagonist's visions were a result of her being a medium and that the whole story was actually a supernatural battle between good and evil. It's amazing how much detail the filmmakers put into every aspect of the story and how everything ties together so perfectly. I'm definitely going to watch it again now that I have a better understanding of what's going on. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and analysis!

@@Gumunista Pazuzu was the Akkadian personification of the southwestern wind and king of the Lilu wind demons. Because of his inhuman and grotesque appearance, he was also used in white magic to scare off all kinds of unwanted guests. Although Pazuzu, as the personification of the southwestern wind, symbolized famine and drought, he was also primarily invoked to ward off Lamastu as the only thing she feared most.
My only question is why when you find the sacrifice carvings on the floor they didn't try to destroy it that way it couldn't use it? Or is that never a option?
I mean, I'm pretty sure that the carvings were into the floor and wasn't just a painting or something. It would take a lot of time to take it off and probably have to destroy most of the floor area, so even if they tried the demon would have plenty of time to stop them

I’d love to see you do the [REC] series. I’ve seen them all except the last one that I can’t find streaming. Trollhunter is probably my favorite streaming gem.
Do you think there's a reason that the costume dept chose to put Art in a snug black turtleneck with a very prominent zipper tab right at the top of the neck? It makes it look like a priest's collar. Wondering if it's a reference to Judaism vs. Catholicism in it's thoughts on handling the topic of demons.
Art is the perfect example of why you need to cut certain people out of your life. Even if their family because some people will drag you down to hell with them!
This movie actually looks really good! Awesome :D Also, I know this might seem like a silly bit of praise, but I really appreciate a female demon getting the starring role for once - well, a female demon that isn't a succubus, that is. And her design looks great to boot!
I don't think demons usually have sex technically. Two almost all possession movies have women as the possessed or hero. Horror movies just in general are very female focused TBH.
@@dianapennepacker6854 I think that's a case by case basis. A lot of possession type horror movies do have a focus on women, but mostly as the victims of demonic possession (horror directors' obsession with the 'Tainting of Purity' trope) but not as many where a female demon exists bc she wasn't spited or wrongfully killed and is now back for revenge. I think this and Deadstream are some of the few movies I can think of where the female demon/possessor is just absolutely antagonistic. But you're more than welcome to prove me wrong bc I'm no horror connoiseur.

Kabbalah is such a trip. When I was on Birthright we met a man named Avarham in Svet who told us about it. Guy was basically a hippie
Very interesting
tyty for sharing!!! gives everything so much more depth, and is genuinely extremely interesting
Good thing it's all bullshit regardless
Thanks for this. Interesting to hear the Jewish perspective on this from a Muslim standpoint.
I like how the father’s name is Saul and his friends referred to him as a “good man” because it reminds me of a particular lawyer from Breaking Bad…
*inserts BCS opening song*
That was honestly such a good movie. Being able to see a demon that is worthy of its title
Ah the good old fashioned, nobody wins, everyone dies. Happy ending for demon only.
Dear Foundflix, your videos are the best. I found myself rewatching your content for days on end until I finally see you've posted another amazing new video. Thanks for your content dude, you are the man
I don't think I've ever seen a Jewish horror movie. Talking to my therapist, my medication, weed & you're videos help with my loneliness & boredom & I just wanted to say thank you for that
It looks a lot like The Autopsy of Jane Doe from 2016. In fact, are they using the same autopsy set???
thats just how they look
My professor did the score. I'm so glad you liked this.
This to me is like The Mortuary Assistant, the movie. Im all for it!
Yes!! Agree 😄
I really enjoyed that game, was pretty good.
that sounds great! exploring mythologies is actually a huge reason i love horror movies. speaking of which, have you seen "the vigil"? i saw it at tiff and like what you said here loved the Jewish folklore aspect as you don't see that often. but also, it was the firstmovie in a long time that actually made me scared to walk back home after.
“Well thats not very niiice” 🤣you and james are rubbing off of each other
If you liked this one you’ll love “the vigil” can’t recommend it enough.
I felt like it was a family drama movie and not a horror movie. I cried because of Saul. 😭
Thank you for entertaining videos sir. Whether I watched the movie or not I love to hear your opinion and how you break it down sometimes
That demon was playing 4-D chess while Art was sticking checker piece up his nose
"Burn in hell!"
"Well, that's not very nice."
😂😂😂
I love that this demon was......well...a demon, it exploited the weak and there by exploited the empathy of the strong, dragging everyone down with them. It's a cruel and cunning thing and this was not a fight, it wasn't even a game, it was just straight up slaughter.
Snap back to reality, ope there goes gravity, ope
There goes rabbi, he choked, demon's so mad but he won't
Give up that easy, no, he won't have it, he knows
His whole back's to these ropes, it don't matter, he's dope
I believe abyzou is the same demon from the possession(2012) which is one of my favorite horror movies of the 2010's
Yup it’s a dybbuk demon named Abyzou. I love that movie too.
This was exactly what I was going to say.👍
@@SweetieEvie great horror movie with good scares but not too reliant on jump scares
I give you kudos for attempting the Hebrew words and discussing some of the tradition. No small feat!
Perfect timing..... Just woke up and got the notification.... Thank you Foundflix.
I really appreciate these videos. When it seems good and I can watch it, I’ll pause the video to check it out. Found a lot of good movies this way.
Watch "She Creature" :) Id love to see your take on it, and a lot of people who went on to be famous
You should do a video on Hidden sometime, it's not really a horror film but it's definitely a unique end-of-the-world-virus thriller.
Loved this, it was a great time revisiting this flick! 🍿 I had covered it a while back and didn't see anyone else covering it, glad it'd getting more love!
The movie reminded me more of the Autopsy of Jane Doe than the conjuring. Especially with the morgue scene, father and son, imagery etc.
The cutaway "uh not too big of a myster there" type quips are why im subscribed lol
Christian overtones in most possession stories always put me off, so I am very excited to see something from a Jewish perspective!
They are the same
Same shit, different name
This comment feel unreal it’s so ironic
This is satire, right?
Jewish religion and christian religion are two entirely different religions, the people in this comment section be on something
Wow this is the earliest I’ve caught one of your videos. Love the content.
you should really cover the comedic/horror "The Blacksmith and The Devil"
I was literally just thinking how I’m in need of a new foundflix vid 🥰🥰🥰
All this demon talk of "I cAn BrInG yOuR lOvEd OnEs BaCk" when Thoros of Myr is literally right there. Resurrection is kinda his thing, people. 🤦♂️ (In all seriousness, thank you for this video. Now, my wife and I have a new addition to our Halloween Marathon)
It would be nice to see a movie where we can see what happens after the entity arrives-via the strain or omen series
I loved this one it was a great film thank you for your thoughts. Have you explained The Vigil yet?
there's an older horror film I enjoyed that you may have not seen from the 2000s called Dead Birds. it is probably dated but it always stuck with me.
That's a good film.
Tbh I’m not a fan of horror but I did like the lore from this one, especially like it when the demon wins(makes sense there powerful and for those locked away from centuries the knowledge to lock them away has been lost)
one of the best movie endings ever, totally unexpected, and the movie focused on the small things, most people don’t realize small things, and small details matter alot
People saying the ending is bad must have forgotten that “Drag Me to Hell” exists. Or any “evil wins” endings in media.
Hereditary too
Dead Silence, too. The ghost of Mary Shaw wins in that one.
This is one of my favorite channels to watch. Top 5 easily
Getting to a video this early feels like an offering in itself. Another great video as always!
Congrats on getting the Sponsor!
i too thought this was a cool one. i loved learning about jewish folk, this movie actually taught me something i didn't know!
there's a lot to like about this channels videos, but the amount of actual video and stills from each movie is so much more than I've seen elsewhere. he does great job.
Ironically, the infamous Pazuzu was often used to help *ward off* the Taker of Children.
Would you mind to elaborate? This seems very interesting and difficult to research
@@Gumunista Pazuzu was the Akkadian personification of the southwestern wind and king of the Lilu wind demons. Because of his inhuman and grotesque appearance, he was also used in white magic to scare off all kinds of unwanted guests. His main antagonist was Lamastu, the lion-headed demoness who preyed upon pregnant women and newborn children to devour. Although Pazuzu, as the personification of the southwestern wind, symbolized famine and drought, he was also primarily invoked to ward off Lamastu as the only thing she feared most.
Yeah I just watched a Jewish horror movie called Golem. Basically it's a little boy reeking havoc.
My only question is why when you find the sacrifice carvings on the floor they didn't try to destroy it that way it couldn't use it? Or is that never a option?
I mean, I'm pretty sure that the carvings were into the floor and wasn't just a painting or something. It would take a lot of time to take it off and probably have to destroy most of the floor area, so even if they tried the demon would have plenty of time to stop them
Can you do Triangle of Sadness. It’s definitely a headscratcher for me, but one of the most uniquely interesting movies I’ve seen in a while. Thanks!!!
Did this remind anyone of The Autopsy Of Jane Doe? It was also a surprise delight about a father and son working in a mortuary.
I love his videos, I always look forward to watching whatever he uploads!
A movie where the demon gets exactly what it wants and no one survived
Hereditary?
Can you imagine.... The movie starts off with the old man sacrificing himself to seal the demon. And the rest of the movie the demon just never gets released. Its just about the couple living a normal life. 😂
Hey would absolutely love it if you covered perfect blue! It has some of the best twists ive ever seen
This is a great horror movie. Good story, good FX, good acting.
"She spins BaAaCk" LMFAO dudes been hanging w Chills too much
One of my favorite streaming gems is the 2017 movie “Prodigy.”
I felt really bad for Saul...
You better call him then 😉
FoundFlix! I miss the cool background music and the Erie backdrop music while you broke down the stories, please bring those back if possible.
Reminds me a bit of the autopsy. Both great
I’d love to see you do the [REC] series.
I noticed that too funnily enough
At 7:44 I have never wanted to cut & from one of these videos this bad. this movie looks fucking awesome and it’s barely streaming anywhere
Art is the perfect example of why you need to cut certain people out of your life. Even if their family because some people will drag you down to hell with them!
Been looking froward to this one! Thank you!
I really enjoyed this one. It was very The Autopsy of Jane Doe meets The Vigil.
Ever watched The Possession of Michael King? Would love to hear your opinion about the movie
YES agreed 👌👌
Yes!Finally an ending no one survive.
The Ad Begins At 16:50, And Ends At 17:55.
This movie actually looks really good! Awesome :D Also, I know this might seem like a silly bit of praise, but I really appreciate a female demon getting the starring role for once - well, a female demon that isn't a succubus, that is. And her design looks great to boot!
It's nice women are getting more representation as demons? 😂 It does look good tho
@@tarotsushima3332 The Nun from Conjuring 2 would like to know your location.
@@dianapennepacker6854 lies😂😂😂😂
18:34 Love Mr.Flix's sense of humor
Just had someone break into my home and this video ist perfect for calming myself down after the police left, thank you for this content :)
Omg!
Get that blicky locked and loaded bro bro
@@funnelingspace9268😭🗣️‼️
You know it’s going to be good when Thoros of Myr shows up- even as a rabbi he knows that the night is dark, and full of terrors.
[PLEASE REVIEW]
The Possession (2012)
Honestly i was shocked when i saw you hadn’t done an ending explained on this !! It’s a killer. I love it. Honestly if you reviewed it, only going to get likes and views !!
The thumbnail for this was awesome, not a first time viewer ! Lol, but that rly caught me.
The french horror tv show marianne is really good!! Its a shame it got cancelled :(
I was miffed, there was so much that could've been done with that show!
I love your videos and that theyre a little longer than the typical and you don’t raise your voice too much so they help me sleep when I can’t 💚
as a jewish person, I really enjoy this concept! our culture is unique and rich, and this movie takes advantage of that to create an entertaining storyline that's still somehow super creepy. Great video yet again
As a Jew, I love seeing Jewish folklore. And more than just a dybbuk
A lot of shitty horror movies got released this year and last year but this movie was actually really good
Ain't no way I caught a foundflix upload live
if this movie is anything like 2012s the Possession, im definitely gonna have to give this a watch
Its actually better imho 👌
The thing that kills most horror movies is the disregard for basic practices, evidence left on a body? Drops and breaks potential evidence?
The sponsor of this video is Hello Fresh, reminding you to, "Feed your demon side".
Really curious, how do you analyse these movies? You watch it like multiple times and write notes?
