For some reason, I think this ending really fits Cu Chulainn. Not a story of love or a great mystery about what is coming next but simply the grand duel that he always wished for.
I sometimes find it frustrating when in a game or a show a climatic battle is about to take place...only for the scene to cut out and end. A cliffhanger like that just hurt. This is one of those examples in this game, the other being when Karna confronts Sephyr in his ending where he's about to do the final blow but the scene cuts out. But in all of reality, Cu vs. Gil, one of the most intense fights. The animated one in F/SN wasn't so great but come on, at least let us do the battle by choosing one of the two and having a post-battle dialogue.
Dude, I was hella pissed when I found out that this was the end. I was so convinced that there was more to the story, but nope! The writers of the game are so lazy, if you're not going to set up a final battle, don't create the cut scene in the first place.
Well, if there will ever be a sequel to Extella, there might be some sort of information on what happened in the end. We know by the CG of Cu's ending that both him and Gil could easily kill each other in an instant without the other being able to escape.
Finrod Felagund Gil isn't that much stronger than Cu unfortunately... Gil's stats actually make him roughly equal to Saber while she's under Shirou's control but it's the fact that he has Ea, Enkidu and Gate of Babylon that makes him 'stronger' than every other normal Servant. Against Cu, the latter is useless thanks to Protection of Arrows and Cu is more than enough to disarm Gil should he get his hand on Ea. Enkidu still bites back. 12 hours of delaying Gilgamesh is a feat no other Servant so far has achieved.

I bet on Gil.
