The Jam - Start (Bass cover with tabs)

- I always loved Bruce Foxtons basslines, which were the foundation of many of The Jams songs. The song "Start" from the 1980 album "Sound Affects" became a No. 1 single and had a very similar bass line, rhythm guitar and guitar solo to The Beatles song "Taxman" but was arranged as an otherwise completely different song. Paul Weller said that he was influenced by The Beatles "Revolver" album as well as Michael Jackson "Off The Wall" when composing the tracks for "Sound Affects".

Not to be overlooked, thanks for allowing the clip option! Helps to learn it by breaking it into segments. Awesome job!
The bass CARRIES the song
Nice cover. My favorite song from The Jam. Thanks for the tabs.
thanks alot ! crystal clear and so much fun to play !!!
Just got it myself
You sound great thanks
Amazing cover!!
Thank you!
Best Tabs I've ever seen for this, thanks, I love playing as much as I can work out by The Jam and feel Foxton is a massively under rated player, remembering he was often singing backing vocals or jumping 6 feet in the air most of the time and he wrote a few classics as well. My only comment is that nearly everything Foxton played was with a pick and I'm pretty sure this was as well? Not that it makes any difference as you got the best tabs on the interweb on this one.
He's not playing a pick in the video
Love Paul Wellers stuff. I just learned Sunflower not too long ago.
it's McCartney 😂
@@dylanscaife7470 Ah, yeah I'm aware of the Beatles catalogue. If you click on "show more" Tom mentioned Paul Weller being influenced by the Revolver album. My reply was regarding that info. No worries, it's all good.
Congratulations!!
amazing
Well Played
Taxman!

Would not the D chord have the major 3rd F# in the up scale climb instead of the minor 3rd F natural?
There are quiet a few "blue notes" in that bass line.
Are u playing through a pedal to get the sound
It's just an amp simulation in Cubase.
Is this taxman by the Beatles? Haha
Yeha the jam kinda copied the Beatles with the bassline, but I prefer start! Bassline, it's by far superior
@@callmerich4953 you're wrong, but anyway.
@@SM-dt1pr It's subjective. But you being a cretin is a fact.
Cause I’m the taxman
Yawn...do shut up.
Bruce did it with a pick.
I know!!
And?
