For those of you who are wondering: Yes, he has to do the Hanging Gardens area. It's a confusing part of the game, but some entrances lead to different parts of the map. It'll dawn on him at some point that that one box at the top didn't get filled out.
It's not that hard to figure out. Going left leads to the area he needs to get to, going right leads to the black door area where he got the Dive Kick.
Collecting more of the same souls makes sense if you consider using the headhunter soul. Every soul (like duplicates) counts. But yeah, the effects of the souls itself are not getting stronger no matter how many souls of a kind you have.
It's weird because now I'm confused. I'm playing the same version he is playing, assuming he's going with the PC port, and the souls show a number next to them that I figured was the soul's level.
@@gameprose4293 Nope. The number next to the souls in the equip menu just show how many you have. You can have up to nine. Not more. If you want the maximum effect of the headhunter soul then you have to beat the game 9 times (because boss souls only drop once per playthrough).

Headhunter isn't worth using early on, you need to get quite a few more souls for it to be worth using. That being said, luck is actually a worthless skill in this, the amount it increases drops is, at best, miniscule.

So a big tip with the Mandragora soul. You have to kill it in such a way that the enemy's name is on screen. If you don't then you have no chance of getting the soul.
