- Prepare to feel uncomfortable even though the overall message is a progressive one, as the host attempts to dispel the misconceptions that have arisen with regards to the relationship between race and crime. Using rather jarring language and strange analogies (for example analyzing how similar/dissimilar a Black and Asian guest are to an ape), the host explains that race is irrelevant to the matter of crime.

However, studies on racism are recent, so even people in academia back in the day were embedded in the racism designed and structured in institutions for political reasons (eg. Ray-Aja's Washington Post article "Racism isn’t about ignorance"). Recent studies reveal though that people characterized as racists lack substantial biological, historical and geographic knowledge, so yes, statistically, racist people are ignorant.
I'm not too surprised. That's how we get to the point we are today, because many of the people in the past were disgusted with injustice and they stood on the shoulders of people disgusted before them to build the better world of today. It's easy to judge everyone in the past as all on board with injustice unlike us. There's lots of injustices today that is considered at worst, "just the natural order of things" or at best, "wrong but just the way the world is, what can anyone do?". And yet, there's people fighting for issues they believe in that will build a better world of tomorrow.
These people are have existed throughout history and are called heroes. They go against the grain because they can imagine a better humanity.

I got angry and started thinking negatively just by reading the title/headline. However, watching the full video I was amazed at how informative and progressive this was for the 1950s. Also, I accept my error for thinking this video was going to be racist just by reading the title/headline before actually viewing the full video. So much to learn and hopefully, I don’t commit the same mistake again.

@@exterminateparasites3185 The person was thinking negatively because they thought, (due to the video's title, "Race and Crime", and not a more descriptive title like say, "Myths about Race and Crime.") the video would be about the very thing the video is trying to condemn and prevent at the time, which was indeed main stream thinking.

Very interesting discussion a lot of which is still relevant today.
This is way ahead of its time, you will find many people today still believe the “cultural crime” argument and it’s crazy how so many headlines/ newspapers still do this today.

The cultural crime argument is true, it's just that culture is not color.
That's why Nigerian immigrants; 1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation have 1000x better outcomes than black americans in the United States. One has cracker/ghetto culture and one doesn't.

I dont know, but if this was on t.v. and most people had only 1, 2, or 3 channels. The further you go back in time, (in tv history), the more we watched the same programs because we had far fewer choices. (Fewer tv channels)
I was born in 1957 and raised in Vermont. I had no regular contact with people of color or ethnicity growing up. I had no idea that they were any different than me. It wasn't until my 20's when I learned that racial inequality was still happening in the US. I learned about the horror of Hitler's travesties. It all disgusted me then and still does today. How are there still people believing there is any superiority of one race over another? America has disappointed me that there are still racists serving in the Government and in the Court system. We must evolve beyond prejudice!

I have heard nothing wrong from you at all, but we have a newer theme of just calling people racists who we
may disagree with, or by not doing something, you are by default a racist.
Their is a well known person today that this blanket claim has been made about, yet many people of a different
race than there own, who have had long time relations with the person say it's ridiculous to make that claim
as they have known this person for many years.
Who then are we to believe?
The blanket statement is made by those who wish to harm reputations.
The claims made by people who have personal dealings over long amounts of time.
Consider that no claims of being a racist were made by different races of those who knew them personally.
It then happens that if another person has dealings with said person, that they are now in fact racist.
The media is all propaganda, so just please; if you haven't heard it in specifics, or from a person of the offended
race making the claim; then is it?
Think of the charge of racism to a persons character as a crime towards it.
Innocent until sufficient evidence is brought forward to back the claims, regardless the persons other non
related crimes.

@@PibrochPonder Do I think races are identical in every way physically? No of course not. Darker skinned people don't burn as fast as their lighter skinned counterparts. That's just a result of the amount of melanin in the skin.
Does that make a difference in the quality of Peoples in the varying races or cultures? Absolutely not. Do I think there is any differences in the capabilities of individuals developing in physical, mental or social ways? No I don't. Every single one of us is unique in our talents and our limits. We are one family.

I believe the most unspoken and relevant issue in regards to race relations is the nature of domination. Every group wants superiority and dominance, it's our primal brains default setting in safeguarding a races tumultuous rise over millennia. Similar to the game, King of the Mountain. Victimization and oppression also seem to play out as passive aggressive role in racial unification while recruiting empathetic humans from different races in further projecting there agenda. This technique tends to generate a false sense of entitlement and anarchy within racial groups that perpetuate they have been victimized, while narrow mindedly acknowledging that all races have been oppressed and enslaved at some point in there races history. While knowingly acknowledging this fact is ignored because it would dissolve there propaganda, a leverage point in support from within it's race and empathetic individuals in other racial groups. It's underhandedly exploiting the illogical and unaccountable for support in the rise of that racial grouping. In reality, some racial groups assimilate better due to cultural values and integrity. While others have delusional values of self-worth and prioritize garnering riches as Apex of existence. They neglect to value intellectual and educational wealth over there primordial instincts of obtaining a harem, flaunting precious metals, delusional sovereignty of self expression and values. Eventually, these cultural values become the detrimental to a races progress within civilization and intellectual growth which would serve to provide ample opportunities to obtain an enjoyable existence.

What are you talking about? Some racial groups don't assimilate as well as others? Which ones? Seems the dominate group always thinks it's the other group's fault that they don't do as well. In multi racial countries this plays out. In monolithic countries with people of the same race, somehow ethnicities take this place. People judge cities, families, individuals not as good as them. It's complete nonsense to justify discrimination. People are all the same, if they have access to opportunity, they do just as well as anyone else.
As far as every people enslaving other people at some point in history, that's true. But that's not the great sin, merely enslavement. It's that Europeans enslaved Africans while proclaiming that people were free, that they weren't tools of the government to be used by a divine King and that the government is the people. The US was almost a 100 years after declaring independence to end slavery in 1865, 200 years into our idea that people are free to give full rights to African Americans in 1965. Say what you will about Romans owning slaves, or Egyptians owning slaves or any other civilization, but they never said all people were free and should run government while practicing slavery. They were logically consistent in their brutality.
That's what makes transatlantic slavery and treatment, theft and genocide of Native Americans and other minorities so wrong. It has always contradicted who we say we are and our beliefs about freedom. It's like saying Russia can invade Ukraine on the basis that countries have invaded other countries since antiquity. That's not the values of the international community that we want, and it's unacceptable in today's world.
Watching this 2023, truly the human races where created for certain tasks and trades. So who of what created us!? 👽 🛸

Being from the 50s, it is more than likely that this video was recorded in mono. Stereo was uncommon back then-not to mention it was a new technology that was extremely expensive. Therefore, that is why you are hearing the sound only coming out of one speaker/headphone.

Everything in this video is a sad truth right up until 23:21. Then it is pure ignorance. Warrant cards are for identification and must include /ethnicity/skin color / height /weight /tattoos-birthmarks etc and finger prints. Because blood type is not visual.
OR - and follow me here - if we did do away with race/ethnicity for warrant arrest identification, police would HAVE to look closer and harder at who they put in handcuffs instead of snatching any ole Black, Latino, or brown person. The ethnicity markers have always made it easier to snatch up an innocent person bc they won’t hesitate with some of those ethnicities. Other ethnicities, on the other hand, get the privilege of verification & handling with kid gloves. Or perhaps a trip to Burger King before being processed & booked.
