I'm from Rockford Illinois and we're pretty proud of our home town boys. I even eat a local restaurant that Rick Neilson is part owner of. And one year, he even came to our company Christmas party. (long story) Cool guy, and very funny.
Thanks for sharing the story🤗🤗🤗
I grew up in and around Rockford. Was living in Belvedere in the early 80's and went to a house party behind the Clock Tower Inn. Don't remember much about the party since it was so long ago but I do remember Rick and Bun were there and I was briefly introduced to them by friends we had in common. Though the details of the party have faded I always remembered it with fondness.
Cheap Trick are a really fun band, they have a lot of songs like this ("Surrender" is another great one) and they had a great sense of humor. They played up the fact that they had two guys that were "cool" looking along with a nerd and an office worker, the contrast between the front and back cover of their album "In Color" is hilarious. Great reaction!
The single of "I want you to want me" (Live in Japan) was the first single I got gifted from my big brother when I was a kid. Cheap Trick bring back good memories.
Many thanks for sharing
BTW the opera singing you do, IS AMAZING!!!
Oh wow thanks for your kind words🥰
Saw them open for Meatloaf at America West Arena Phoenix Arizona August 1994. They were great live!!!👍👍😄😄
Thanks for sharing🥰
One of the greatest live rock/pop albums ever recorded is Cheap Trick Live at Budokan 1978. The entire performance is brilliant and they were at the top of their game firing on all cylinders creatively at the time IMHO.
And you sure can’t be a slouch if you’re playing Budokan.
Thanks for sharing
Geez! I don't think I've heard this song for at least 20 years! It was one of the songs that got stuck in my mind when I was a kid.
Many thanks for sharing
You had the typical cheap Trick reaction.... smiling 😅
Awesome
🌺
I saw Cheap Trick many moons ago during their Dream Police tour. Rick Neilson had a row of guitar picks lined up on his mike stand. He would play a few riffs on his guitar and throw each pick out to the audience. He kept tossing them out like M&Ms throughout the entire show! One of the best concerts ever and I still have the Cheap Trick pin that I purchased at that show!😊
Thanks for sharing
Robin Zander has an incredible voice. He paired up w/ Anne Wilson of Heart to do a duet called Surender To Me which ended up on the original Tequila Sunrise soundtrack. Great voices. Great ballad. (Mike Reno did the duet w/ Anne in Footloose - correction applied).
Actually, it was Mike Reno of Loverboy who dueted with Ann on "Almost Paradise". Robin and Ann did duet on "Surrender to Me" from the movie Tequilia Sunrise.
@@JPChristian Yep. Thanks for the correction. Faulty memory. got them mixed up (It's been a while since I listened to those songs).
Many thanks for sharing
Nice reaction 👍🏻. Great song ! Begins with the chorus, unusual.
Thank you 🙌
My favorite song. Thank you.
🥰🥰🥰
I saw this tour . The opening act was Shooting Star from K.C. I saw them at a small club in Boston the following Halloween . You should check them out . Start with Last Chance .

Awesome reaction because you were rocking out , right at the start, and opinion, that's the essence of the song at the time was for many a partier. Flashback, good show.
Thanks so much🤗
You 're welcome Singer ! 😊
Wow! Just some blast from my past song i havent heard in decades and here you are bringing it back.
Thanks for taking the time to watch🥰
@@AaliyahCapili oh crap wrong song , yeah cheap trick is Campy music. Fun hold hands with a girl roller rink music. Now im old and dont dare put on skates. Wish you well, keep up the good work.
@@AaliyahCapili also at the beginning of your videos where you sing , sounds amazing, to me anyways.
"Fun and catchy" pretty much expresses the essence of this song. Loved it when it came out and it's still one of my favorites.
Thanks for sharing
Great band
🥰🥰🥰
Great song!
This is the ALBUM THAT I THINK "BLEW THEM UP" in the 70's, i was in grade school, my brother was in high school, he was jamming to this.
Thanks for sharing🌺
Nice reaction Aaliyah - thank you for posting it. Cheap Trick was an interesting band in that they straddled the fence between New Wave and mainstream pop. There were certain bands that rose to prominence in the '70's and then successfully made the transition into the MTV-centered universe of the early 80's - and Cheap Trick was one of them. MTV - which launched in '81 - was a seismic change in how people consumed music - just as the launch of UA-cam was. A lot of great '70's bands didn't make that transition over to MTV and their relevance in music quickly faded. But Cheap Trick survived and flourished on MTV - hence the cheesy video you just reacted to. But they were a really good band. I can't call them a "great" band - but they had many cool songs - including my favorite Cheap Trick song: " I want you to want me. " There's a good live version of this song performed at Tokyo's famous Budokan theatre if you're interested. Also - another cool band that occupied the same space between New Wave and mainstream pop was The Cars. They have a lot of great songs from the same time period including my favorite: Bye Bye Love. I hope you check them out sometime and thanks again for posting this one.
They are a very great band. Their deep catalog is amazing. The first four albums are absolutely stunning. Their label did them no favors with the songs that made it to the radio
Many thanks for sharing too and for your recommendation
Cheap trick has some great songs. For me it was like, I didn't know they sang that songs such as, "I Want You to Want Me," "Surrender," and "Voices." Difinantly worth checking them out more. As always, great reaction.
Many thanks for your recommendations
@@AaliyahCapili you're welcome.
Nice choice! I always liked the sort of dark paranoia (and maybe not just paranoia 😉) of the lyrics, mixed with the somewhat seductive tone of the verses, and fun, upbeat chorus. Certainly looking forward to more. In the meantime, sweet dreams.
Thanks! 😄
Oh man this was all over when it came out. The video took away from the music, imo, but it was a fun one. This brought me right back to my early teens. It was fun watching with you, Aaliyah. Btw your hair looks better and better with each video. Idk what you're doing but it looks wonderful. Have a blessed day, dear.
Oh thank you very much and also for sharing about your early teens🌺
I haven't heard Dream Police in decades! Thank you, Aaliyah!
Thanks for watching too
Cheap Trick r best known for playing the theme song for "That 70's show" ... They had a distinct sound that was easily identifiable and were hailed as an energetic live rock band... Cheap Trick debuted in 1977 and their formula was their 2 good-looking members (Vocalist Robin Zander and bassist Tom Petersson) balanced by their odd-looking members (Guitarist Rick Nielsen and drummer Bun E. Carlos)
First 2 albums sold poorly ('Cheap Trick' and 'In color' in 1977) in the US but Cheap Trick resonated overseas in Japan where they toured in 1978 as rock stars... Their live album recorded from that tour - 'Cheap Trick at Budokan' became a huge hit in the USA and sold 3x platinum.... Their 1979 album 'Dream Police' became a platinum success as well...
However, Cheap Trick experienced low album sales as they carried on in the 80's... but their hit single 'The Flame' in 1988 made the album 'Lap of Luxury' a platinum success... The band continued into the 90's and beyond... recording and touring.
In 2010, drummer Bun E. Carlos left Cheap Trick and the band utilized session drummers.
Many thanks for sharing all of these🥰
I never really liked Cheap Trick too much. Even so, I loved your reaction! ❤
Thanks so much🥰
I think you are the first person to react to Cheap Trick's Dream Police

Did you like how Rick’s pants and guitar match? You might to check out I want you to want me n the Flame, they were two of their most successful songs
Rick has definitely had quite an interesting collection of guitars and pants over the years. 😄

Rick Neislen, the guitar player's parents were opera singers.

If you like this, watch any live version. Cheap Trick is one of the bands that is better live than in studio.
Thanks for sharing
But I enjoy the studio version of their songs too!
Especially this song!
Since you are a Singer , the song you should really check out is When Im With You - Sherriff
Thanks again for your recommendation
Great reactions, can I suggest Billie Holiday or Louis Armstrong? Marvin Gaye? Also would love to hear your take on Frank Zappa and (live!) Grateful Dead although they would be more for overall musical content rather than just voice. Thanks for your thoughtful remarks.

You're not ready
Hello Aaliyah, I'm a big fan of Cheap Trick and I grew up in a town in Wisconsin near Rockford Ill. My drummer in my first band had an audition before they got Bun E Carlos but he moved beck to Champaign Ill where he had a Drum shop and saw Bun E and became friends with him. Other good songs are Surrender, I want you to want me, the Flame and more

Cheap Trick are a great band in their own right, but they also made a name covering the Beatles. Check out their version of Magical Mystery Tour - if it wasn't blasphemy, I'd say it's better than the original! Of course, their single If You Want My Love, is an utter classic!!
Oh thanks for the info🥰
