    Good tips Robert.
Most novice runners try to run each and every run the fastest they can. This is a recipe for exhaustion, over-training and losing motivation, possible injury and finally giving up running. Most runs (80%) should be conversational (easy) pace. Unfortunately, I personally learned about this way too late. I might have saved myself a lot of pain! For a novice runner without an established base, easy running should be even close to 100%.
If you cannot run at conversational pace at all, walking might be what you should do. Perhaps, run-walk-run is the best strategy for this group after a period of progressively longer walks. I agree C25K apps/plans have been successful way to get people to start running.
