@@c.shoefish thanks. I’m mechanically inclined so no worry there but have been doing research on what actually needs to be done as this is my first boat.
Enjoyed this video. I just got rid of my aluminum bass boat to go back to a fiberglass. I can honestly say I miss that aluminum boat because I could run in skinner water and never worry about scratching it up. I do like fishing off my glass boat because of the stability. I stopped wiring my new boats myself, because I found an awesome electronics' guy that does great work at a cheap price. I am very lucky to have a MinnKota repair shop about 10 miles away from my residence. I have been looking at my new future glass boat and I am considering getting a Falcon. Do they let anyone take a tour of the Falcon plant to see the manufacture progress?
I'm in the market for a boat, but months to a year down the line. I have a truck that can pull it. I've towed vehicles, and boats before. But never driven a boat, or a trolling motor. Learning to drive the boat before I even make a cast is essential.
My father has that same boat with the original VMAX150 2 stroke. I use to use that thing every weekend. Love that vessel. Just needs a power upgrade as well. Sitting unused is the worst thing for a outboard. Enjoy it buddy!! BTW Its a great boat for they Florida Key's
I started with a 8k budget then i saw what was out there, i went to 14k, still couldn't find what i wanted so i went down the rabbit hole budget ended up being 42500 😂 but my son and i are happy with the boat two years later zero issues
Man I am in the market, I have a tight budget, and I’d like to find something water ready that doesn’t need to much work. Tall glass of water with a small budget and I’m struggling here.
Where to start? I spent the 80’s and 90’s fishing anything from club tournaments to Red Man and BASS Invitationals and ran 18’ glass boats. (BASS we were limited to 150HP at the time). They were pretty, they were fast and they were fun. Even dangerous in the wrong hands. After leaving the Midwest and retiring in Florida I was looking for a boat I could haul with my mid-size SUV, would fit in the garage and not break the bank I opted for an 18’ aluminum maxed out on HP. Ended up buying new because a boat left outdoors in Florida is usually junk from the intense sun and humidity and most store their bouts outside. The boat I chose has more storage than my 18’ Ranger, stable and more economical to run yet people still tell me how beautiful the boat is. Most aluminum boats come with 12V Tm but I went with 24V. It’s decked out with electronics. I can run it for a month on fuel I would use in a day on the glass boat. It can be rough or even dangerous on the big lakes like Harris Chain if it gets windy. I fish mostly a smaller west-central Florida chain of lakes close to home that it’s perfect for. Would I like to have a McFast glitter boat, sure but it won’t help me catch more fish and I can still afford to live my life.
As I was writing this my wife literally booked us a cruise out of Port Canaveral. Had I bought a 21’/250HP boat and truck that would not happen. Happy wife, happy life
I would never buy an older boat unless it was a Ranger. Manufactures didn’t pultruding their transoms until the late 90s. Ranger started in the late 80s. There are so many pro craft, skeeters, champions that have broken transoms. They are all wood core. That’s a project I would never want to undertake
@@BrianLatimerFishing I'm thinking somenthing with a 150 (fiberglass). I don't tournament fish. Just weekend warrior. I saw a guy with a Skeeter 150 / Yamaha on Moss Lake in Kings Mountain. I think that's perfect for what I want to do.

These new bass boats are just missing something...even tho they outperform the old good ones in every way. As far as driving and having fun sport drivin...the old ones are more fun

False. Tournament anglers actually take the best care of their boats. If the boat doesn’t work a tournament angler looses 10s of thousands of dollars. The novice boat owner is actually the owner that has the most ins claims and hiccups.
Tournament anglers take care of the motors but they abuse tf out that hull. I will agree that weekend warriors mess hulls up by just doing oops and some just don't maintain at all
I think you’re confusing easy to fix with finding a professional to actually fix the problem being easy. There’s far more fiberglass techs than boat welders. Usually a aluminum boat weld failure is return to the factory to be crushed. It’s also far easier to fix gel coat than paint. The gel is more durable and forgiving.
@@BrianLatimerFishing that highly depends on what part of the country you are in. There is a fair amount of aluminum boat repair shops in my area.
