I just saw/discovered them last weekend opening for Slowdive. Wow! What a show. This band should be HUGE. What a great sound. If 80's New Wave and 90's Shoegaze had a baby, it would be named Drab Majesty.
of all the darkwave and whatever wave and goth and new wave and no wave and shoegaze and everything in between, drab majesty is really something special...its more than just the same ol synth and played out vocals...and live? DAMN
I was feeling extremely lonely today. I rarely drink alcohol, but tonight I drank too much, and coming off of its effects my mood always goes to rock bottom and makes me feel stranded in the dark. But I turned this song on, and the pain connects to something, and life makes sense. Goth rock isn't meant to be dark for the sake of being dark like how the mainstream perceives it, its meant to soothe you. If you have a gothic spirit inside of you, this music pulls life's fangs and claws out of you and makes them dance around you.
Oh definitely... I'm in love with DM music at the moment. The catchy and addictive guitar riffs on Dot in the Sky = ear orgasm. It's my stomping tune when I have to walk somewhere. Drab Majesty are unique and special. Great ethereal look and sound, the beautiful voices compliment each other. I've been plugging them to my friends lol. Hope to see them live one day
So rare nowadays to find such music - all the ways Drab Majesty delivers bliss upon the ears and hearts of many is exquisite and so full of soul. Talk about Depth. 🖤
I'm a huge fan of The Cure. I'm so glad that Spotify put this track is my recommended music playlist last week. If not for that, I may have gone my entire life without ever discovering this band, which would have been quite a shame. I have been listening to "The Demonstration" almost all day today... I haven't discovered an artist this intriguing for quite a long time. In less than 72 hours, they have already scored a very high spot on my personal list of favorite musical acts ever. And, I am still in disbelief that these songs weren't released in the 1980s.
Check this Track out - it turned my life to the absolut positive Maximum - no Blocades anymore Drab Majesty - Not Just a Name | Audiotree Far Out ua-cam.com/video/028yMtrBroc/v-deo.html
Bro listen to the audio tree version of their track Not Just a Name from that album honestly way better than the original and honestly my favorite drab song though of course there are many!
@@rockinged7219 took the words right out my mouth man. That song is as close to perfection as you can get especially when the song transitions in the middle damn i fucking love it
I really, reallly miss that feeling....I think the one your talking about....you talk about it the way I feel about it.....music is magic im pretty sure. Careful
You can't feel those arms of mine Made me feel so dead tonight Can't dissolve your noxious mind I'll treat you right Can't resolve this toxic plight From my line of sight You forgot what love was like Your hatred tastes like cyanide I'm digging for a hopeless sign Something of the like Oh, I can't find the reason why you're treating me this way You wanna keep me in the lobby Is there room in your love tonight to take me away You wanna keep me in the foyer No room for a broken man to pay the way You forgot what love was like Your lips they taste like cyanide Searching for a hopeless sign Something of the like Oh, I can't find the reason why you're killing me this way You wanna kill me in the lobby Is there room in your love tonight to take me away? My friend just introduced me to Drab Majesty. He's been raving about them for years, and finally got me to sit down and watch/listen to some videos. I'm blown away by the imagery, homages, high-quality production, and thoughtful composition. I look forward to exploring their whole catalogue, perhaps on a long drive.
Gabriel Lopes yeah definitely. With music like this and The Soft Moon, She Past Away and Lebanon Hanover around there is still some interesting stuff out there 🤗
Its not about the god damn goth scene it’s about the fucking music lol. If they weren’t dressed goth I would still love this band. They are the literally the best 80’s synth pop revival band out rn imo. Goth or not lol.
Thank you so much Drab Majesty. Really. I have gone through a little depression and your music has been my only antidepressant. I discovered, again, it isn´t worth getting depressed by anyone and that it is better to invest time in things that bring you good moments and if it is something wonderful as your music everything changes quickly for the better. This is not only music, just culture.
Found these guys the day David Bowie died. I was watching the video for Ashes to Ashes, and this was the video that was then suggested to me...and that was it. Hooked instantly.
I’d like to thank Drab Majesty for making the drum machine track something that can be physically played by a human. Play along to this song on the drums feel so fucking good. Soon as that chorus hits the groove is just automatic. Every. Fucking. Time. And all of the drum samples used are so chasmic and huge, it makes my kit sound that much better in the mix. 10/10
Yeah it was soooooo cool to be like 3ft away at poor boys a club in New Orleans,La. On Jan 31 2017 got to hang out and talk with Deb and Mona D. ILL never forget it!
you 4 ppl are fucking crazy. this is SO good. it's original, it's dancy at times, it's depressing. we don't have a lot of musicians with raw integrity these days.
I learned of Drab Majesty through the recent Oakland Fire. I'm the farthest thing from "goth", being a 42 year old dad of three (3) young sons. I really dig the 80's sound of this band; Cure, Depeche Mode.
I have a friend the same age with a grown daughter. He's "Corporate Goth". He still has the long hair/goatee and wears all black with pointed-toe boots with a top hat. He just puts on the eye-liner after work.
im 41, i do a lil goth night in town, and twice now ive played drab majesty...after perhaps bauhaus, or newer stuff..and the young and olde luv it like its been round for decades. cheers to u
Fun fact: That is the same Hotel I spent 4 nights in when I was temporarily homeless. It's located in San Fernando, California. It's so weird because it wasn't too long ago that I was there and as soon as I moved back home I found out about Drab Majesty but just noticed this till now
Try Porcupine Tree, Tears for Fears, Cocteau Twins, but this band is so unique, The Cure can be heard, the smooth guitarlines, the sexy british vocalization, the sexy synths, out of this world, makes me tingle all over, even some Depeche Mode, 80s sound remains intact for me forever
This shit is so addictive I freakin love this track!!! So fucking Dope !!! That break down never get old!!! Also can’t stop playing over n over lol!!! So good!!!
Really inlove with this music..I always listen to the cure , depeche mode and other bands of" that kind " but I now I can´t stop listening to Drab Majesty
how gorgeous is that, i was the same, every song is just out of this world, makes me tingle all over with the haunting melodies, sexy vocals, smooth guitarlines, and sexy synths
I will highly bet that The Psychedelic Furs had some heavy influence on this band and it's music format (Shoegaze, Dark Wave, New Wave, Electronic, etc). This track is one of their best, but on an overall scale, it would be a challenging choice to pick an actual favorite from their entire music catalog.
Arguably one of my favourite music videos in recent years. The cinematography and post-production is so spot on. Bone chilling atmospheric effects @4:12. And the music isn't all that bad either ;)
I discovered Drab Majesty yesterday!!after realizing they collaborated with King Dude on a song and I haven't been able to stop listening to Drab for the past 24 hours. I'm OBSESSED!
I swear this song and video casts a spell! I come back to it time and time again, addicted to the enchanting feeling it bewitches me with. Art that transports you to another realm 🔮✨
It's been years since I saw them live 😢
It's still weird and sad to believe that just a week ago The Foyer's video Director Thomas McMahan passed away. Rest in peace 🖤🌹
extremely sad to hear, very very heartbreaking, i just found this band and love them so much they are now my favourite band
A beautiful video for a beautiful song. RIP

Very sorry for the loss :(
I can`t explain why, but I really enjoy the atmosphere and sound of the first 35 seconds of this video.

I feel ya, It's addictive sound. Simply amazing.
i can't stop listening to anything they write.
The only authentic 80s sound I've heard since the 80s. Drab Majesty have just won a place in my heart.
gost
No, it's not :D
Gost is a house music trying to sound like retrowave, but it doesn't. Retrowave actually don't sound like 80s music lol.
I highly recommend The Soft Moon if you haven't heard them already
deadsy's coming out with a new album
Don't... this is not 80's this is some 2080 shit bro
I feel like Drab Majesty is a state of mind not 'just' music, love them!

totally agree. It feels new and old at the same time.
Yeah, they were pretty great in Los Angeles :D

sadly mistaken
cheers :-)
Coming from LA, this is really great and unique!
Honestly stunned that more people aren't listening to Drab Majesty.
+Jay Greer so so true!
Yeah :(
People are! they are going out with Poptone! big tour
Why? they are pretty average and unoriginal IMHO
I have been into this style of music for 30 years and today was the first i even heard of them..just stumbled across them. What a great day

Campfire 🔥 Audio Solaris!
One of my favourites by them 😊💜
This really deserves more recognition
not with DJ Khaled and Drake all up in the house.
Nice profile pic.

Duì! ---Oui.
This piece of gem is dangerously addictive and obsessive
same what I thought
pure magic . best band in the Universe. Love you 💜🍇🍬

ok,it's very 80's,but its real vibes, real feel, not only just 80's cliches.Using old frames to create something very personal within.very good!
remember that after few years , everything returns ...50's , 60's , 70's ...sometimes mixing the different styles of music and sometimes not :)
this song is celestial but in the saddest, purest form.

ME TOO !! HYPNOTIZED BEST BAND FOR ME NOW MY FAVOURITE
You can't feel those arms of mine
Made me feel so dead tonight
Can't dissolve your noxious mind
I'll treat you right
Can't resolve this toxic plight
From my line of sight
You forgot what love was like
Your hatred tastes like cyanide
I'm digging for a hopeless sign
Something of the like
Oh, I can't find the reason why you're treating me this way
You wanna keep me in the lobby
Is there room in your love tonight to take me away
You wanna keep me in the foyer
No room for a broken man to pay the way
You forgot what love was like
Your lips they taste like cyanide
Searching for a hopeless sign
Something of the like
Oh, I can't find the reason why you're killing me this way
You wanna kill me in the lobby
Is there room in your love tonight to take me away?
You wanna kill me in the foyer
Rent a room to a naked man to make it okay
You wanna have a fancy party
No need for a license to drive to drive me insane
Please, let me in your fancy party
You think big amends intent to keep me at bay
You think big amends intent to keep me at bay
Well I can't find a reason why you're killing me this way
HOW GORGEOUS IS THAT !
R.I.P Thomas McMahan! Such a beautifully creative man! Andrew and Thomas were creative majic together!!!😪😢😭💜💜💜

SO VERY VERY SAD INDEED, VERY SAD TO READ
This is pure genius 💜
Just a mezmorising song,so well layered and beautiful.I wish The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Drab Majesty did a collaboration album/concert.
Capturing an atmosphere
Hands down this is my favorite song ever 💖

RIP Thomas McMahan, thank you for the otherworldly visual trips.
Such sad news.
Why isn't there more like this in the current existence of music?
Listen to Black Marble
I'm glad there isn't. I'm already having a heart attack over this as it is.
She passed away, plasique Noir, she wants revenge.
White Lies - not quite as dark but the British accent is genuine at least :D
Listen to Soror Dolorosa!
I still have faith on the goth scene.
Gabriel Lopes good
Gabriel Lopes yeah definitely. With music like this and The Soft Moon, She Past Away and Lebanon Hanover around there is still some interesting stuff out there 🤗
Sounds like they should have been on 4ad
Unfortunately goth scene is loathed here in Malaysia 😭😭. Don't worry, my love to goth scene will never fade forever. (I'm 17 btw)

Beyond the beyond...seriously - Deb DeMure is a genius
Drab Majesty is one of those amazingly unique bands that have their own genre. It's called Drab Majesty.🖤🖤🖤
A soundscape of beauty. A dreamscape in the mellow underworld of our emotions. Simply the best. nothing less.
same what I thought and feel
This bands a goldmine

just one more bad ass song we will never ever hear on a radio
i've kept my car radio off for years, for reasons. one of which certainly includes how shitty local stations *rarely* have anything good
I hear stuff like this on 91.1 in Atlanta. College radio of course, clear channel wouldn't touch this.
I heard this playing while in a record store and had to Shazam it. I’m surprised this didn’t come out in the 80s it sounds great!

So incredibly 80s. Like something ripped straight from a Sisters of Mercy or Clan of Xymox album. Sweet!
Milo Cooper also reminds me of the chameleons or killing joke and some the cure!
And the guitar sounds so (Johnny) Marr!
allcatsaregrey definitely Killing Joke
Hmm..It doesn't sound anything like those bands 😮 And the sound of this earlier drab is more 2000's.
