- Adam and Leanne's fledgling gardening business has some painful lessons in store. Having bought a burger van, Fred questions whether she and Dan have been sold a puppy. Sophie has no choice but to press on with her battle to save the family home.
Three long-term families dependent on benefits are given a cash handout of 26,000 each, the current maximum yearly benefit cap for most families. In return, the families must agree to sign off benefits, and see if one large cash sum can turn their lives around for good.
The experiment asks the families to use the money in a way that can positively change their circumstances, make them happier and ultimately remove them from the benefit system. However, there are no strings attached and contributors will make their own decisions, spend money as they want but with the knowledge that they've given up their lives on benefits, and there's no more to come.
Will the families be able to grasp this extraordinary opportunity or will the temptations of a large sum of money in their bank account distract them from their good intentions of building a business or finding work?

All of these people seemed hard working and determined but woman with the four children and her dress business was simply astounding. The first things I noticed were her amazing son and immaculate home. Then I was struck that she is a single Mom to FOUR. To top it all off she approached her new creative career path with thoughtful determination and focus. She impressed me deeply. I wish her and all of the other recipients all the best in their new endeavours.
I do agree...She's a role model...and she's very talented. Hope she succeeds.
She got a bit discouraged it takes time to build a bussiness. I know I make stuff in my garage. You have to build momentum and word of mouth.

Annie Have to agree with you,and just wanted to say,ive never wanted children,im more about our four legged friends lol but that little boy is amazing,he even melted my heart,she must be an amazing mum,and i would be soooo proud to have a son like that,i really hope the family does ok.
yeah exactly how I felt! I really want to see her do well for both her self and her family. shes brought such well mannered beautiful kids up on her own alongside trying to make something of her self. I'm a father of two and work 60 hours a week to keep my children clothed and tummies full, so my partner often feels like a single mum herself and could really relate to this women's stress. hopefully we will one day get to see a follow up on how she's getting on!

That burger thing should be made portable (placed on a trailer or something) and then dragged off to festivals, markets, car-boot sales, and such when needed. Or at least have that as an option.
Add tacos and burritos to the menu the hamburger from the day before can be used for that
You can but it costs a lot to do that ,

The site alone is worth what they paid
Having it portable means they’d have to have an additional licence and permission per event they go to which adds up
Staying as they are and upgrading the system and menu would be the best course it can be a gold mine if you can direct enough traffic

It's amazing how supportive the dressmakers son was being. He kept giving her positive feedback and encouraged his mum every step off the way. She should be proud off him.😀❤👍😀

I think the dress maker could have a 2nd business of using her dresses to do children's photography. They would take pictures in her dresses for an extra fee or even a dress rental for children's parties.

Not necessarily. Some kids turn out great in spite of their upbringing, and some kids turn out rotten no matter how great their parents were.
I'm surprised the shop she visited didn't want to showcase her stuff,last episode,it looked great. Shame but life is hard.
The women that makes the children's dresses could also work in a bridle store and do clothing alterations if all didn't work out with her own business 🤗

Sophie's son is an *absolute Treasure*! He's well beyond his years in every way. What a ~wonderful kid!~ I don't know if she could do all this without him.
He's incredible for 12. I hope she appreciates him - there are grown men who don't support their families like he does.

So depressing when one person works so hard and has no support or a selfish partner that just has no sense whatsoever and just think about what they want and not about the future of the family as a unit or saving money.

Yes beauty pageants my friends little sister competes in them all over the world and her mum Rents her dresses out for £200 each for 1 day some of them cost thousands to be made

Jim Morrison yeah this show is interesting but it’s all about entertainment. If it was higher caliber, it would give the families financial counselling first. Proper counselling to work on why they’ve been so terrible at living properly in the past.

I love Kayden and his mom. They remind me of my mom and i so much. As someone with a single mom it can be hard but Kaydens attitude is excellent and you can tell he cares about his family so much.

I wish that there were more seasons of this. I loved Sophie. The rest.. all I can do is shake my head. The money could have been used for education on different trades to ensure a steady job with decent money coming in.

Sophie’s eldest son 💙 he is so proud, mature beyond his years and truly helpful. She has broken the cycle by showing him a great example and allowing him to be involved in helping her. He now has the foundational knowledge and tools he will need for his own future.
Sophie is so sweet and her kids just seem lovely! Despite having struggles in life its obvious she's done so well raising her children and making sure they have a great childhood. So admirable!
She would have less struggles in life if she gave up the cigs and stopped opening her legs. Also her business has now failed, website shut down and she's back on benefits.

As a workoholic with a bad back and been on the doll for a year but still kept working and declaring it before you grass me up lolol. These stories make me cry when I see someone so happy to be going somewhere from what they had. They knew they had it in them but never got the chance.

Inspiring! Im currently on benefits due to an injury but this programme has made me think more about what i can do and where i can improve. Iv also got 2 ideas in my head that i could do if my animal career doesnt work out and iv just signed up to a workshop to learn some new skills to try and get on with 1 of the ideas whilst my injury heals. (Hopefully!!!)

My only real question is. Why do all of them open their own business, instead of banking that money and getting jobs, at least 1 of the adults in the family?
Unfortunately there are loads who did tried to get jobs, and a few who succeeded, but most have 0 work experience or have been out of the job market for decades

I am sad for Lady in a van. She seems to put a lot of energy in it while her now fiance is just not very supportive whatsoever. Seems to not give into it any effort or hearth or disaere. Shame for him. I wish her all the best she definitely deserve it.
