Shadia Ali I did too. I was 13 taking care of a 4 year old until he was grown. I’m fine too. A older sibling should not have to raise their younger siblings. PERIOD! I don’t know how you grew up, but I was forced to drop out of school to take care of him and make meals out of what little food we had. I wouldn’t change a thing, cause I love him to death. He’s 26 now and doing great. I sacrificed my life growing up, my education, and much more. I went back to school much later in life just to get my high school diploma. If you can’t raise your own kids don’t have them. You said you helped raise. Well I did raise 2 different things sweetie!
Jennifer Crown okey am really sorry that happened to u ..my story is a little bit different we r family of 9brothers Nd sisters I helped raise my siblings but my mom made sure to do most of work .. during the weekend I helped cleaning the house doing laundry for 4kids but school days I used to cook one meal of the day ..most of us graduated and am a doctor now thank god ..I know a lot of ppl r not fortunate..
Shadia Ali Thank you for recognizing where I’m coming from. You never know someone’s story, and your right some people are more fortunate than others. I was more fortunate than others. I get where your coming from it never hurts to help out, but to be forced at a young age to raise a younger sibling is not fair. Have a blessed day
agreed… having too many kids and then needing welfare to care for them is irresponsible and unfair to the government and the children… family planning has to be like budgeting… if you can’t afford more… then you need to be responsible about not making more.
Crystal Boyd , divorce is fine, but why does that automatically give the father a pass, while the mother is practically a single parent? Co-parenting needs to be in full effect.
I don't care how many kids you want as long as you can afford them. What I don't agree with is the eldest daughter having to carry the burden. It isn't fair to her. Older children who carry this kind of burden look tired, and worn out for their age. They're not thriving. And why, because mummy still dresses and behaves like she's twenty five. I'm not disputing that you grow to love your siblings, but inevitably you will resent the responsibility. You will feel cheated.
Thomas Rees don’t look at it like that my dad an mom had 14 of us an from the oldest down it was never a burden , because we knew that is what family is abouti am the 5 th in line
Melinda Roop those kids she popped out are her brothers and sisters I’m sure she loves very much. Not her burden yes, but she can help in the ways she can until she decides to move out and move on
"I escaped the baby making machine"?! Uh, I'm pretty sure your were present during conception, buddy. The British press is brutal. And at least she's taking responsibility and trying to raise those kids alone and yet she's the villain in all this? I don't think I could survive 5 minutes of this woman's life. That boyfriend selling his story after they lost a baby is disgusting.
My heart broke a little bit hearing 15 yo Georgia say “I count her as my child” about her younger sister. Sweet, caring girl you shouldn’t have to count her as yours because she isn’t. And the bullying she was on the receiving end of was disgusting. It’s been a few years, hope that girl is thriving now.

The Hamlins are such sweethearts. They truly care about their children, making sure they know they're loved. Just look at the dad buying snacks at the fair. No discount. Very expensive snack purchase probably, and yet, they still bought it, because it's a treat they deserve.
Our tax dollars are paying for the dole and benefits they are collecting. 14 children ...just imagine how much of my tax is going into that one family . Have as many kids as you want , just make sure you can afford to .
Thats actually why poor families in the past had so many kids. They were basically considered employees that could help the family earn more money on the farm
No one deserves to be bullied, but the sad truth is their parents are the real bullies, because they've forced them to live like this, and they're not letting their kids have a real childhood.
Because the kids clean it for her, she's not really raising them, just downloading all her responsibilities to the oldest kids. They're going to resent the heck out of her.

When you read the online newspapers and there’s the opportunity to comment I’m always flabbergasted. I previously thought between England and America, England would have the more progressive attitudes. Not so. The men there seem WAY more sexist, almost to the point of abuse. What’s worse is the mindset seems expected
Melody Making Melodies your filter is just fine because I felt the same way about Lee. They seem close, nice kids, good people. A lot of families don't have half as much as they do.
My husband is the oldest child in quite a large family, he missed out in more than he gained from it. He didn’t get the support he needed with school work and left school at 15. He’s struggled with his weight all his life after being fed on things like white bread with butter and sugar on it, he was an overweight child and teenager and he was bullied. He’s not close to any of his family now
My dad is the upper middle child of 12 kids. Lived in a 1 bedroom house. His mom was partial to a few children, which didn’t include him. He has an amazing drive no matter what he does, and I think it comes from his pure hatred of his childhood and the effort he put in to go from poor to middle class. He hated going back to his family home.
I'm a Hamlin! Emma and Lee's daughter I than you guys so much for your lovely comments ! I wasnt aware the TV sho had come back around as this was years ago ! Are family are definitely proud to be who they are 😀
I love your parents and your family. I was a bit teary eyed when your siblings were talking about people asking them if your parents are married. And when lee decided to marry your mom i was so happy. God bless u all.
there’s a difference between having a big family and having so many kids that you physically can not look after every single child’s physical and mental health.
Well done to the Hamlins. Can't be easy having so many kids and not claiming whatever you can for them, but they manage and it's thus, no ones business how many kids they have as they're paying for them themselves. You can see how much love and care there is in that family and the kids are a credit to their parents.
I grew up in a family of 7 children. I was the eldest and a girl. Then came 5 boys and 1 girl. Most of my teenage years I spent helping my mom raise the youngest 2 kids and doing lots of housework. While 5 boys had simple duties like mowing the garden and shoving snow ever once in a while, I had to clean the floors and toilets daily, do laundry and cook for my family. All of that on top of school and doing my homework. It was nice to have so many siblings. It was less nice to be like a housemaid for the entire family. My mom wasn't built for having so many children. Once she started working parttime, she was much more happy and content than being a stay at home mom. There might be mothers who do excellent jobs at raising many kids. However, I think it is wrong to view children as a luxury object. They are precious human beings. Once you start compromising on the freedom of one child to benefit the whole family, it's a sure sign that you shouldn't have had that many children. I'm almost 30 now and married. But since I know how nervwrecking and labpurintensive children can be, I haven't found the courage to have children on my own...
I’m sorry, that’s not ok your parents pretty much scarred you from having children. I bet that happens often in these families. I’m the oldest of 6 and I took care of my youngest 2 brothers most of the time. It scarred me from wanting a big family. I also didn’t enjoy having that many siblings. My parents gave up on parenting often and my brothers and sister turned into little shits and are now big adult shits. Don’t bring more kids into the world than you can successfully raise and teach to be decent humans! I did learn from my parents. So I’ve always wanted 2 kids but I only have one because my marriage didn’t work out and I will not bring another baby into the world being a single mom. Nope. So I get it and hope you can do what makes you happy whether you choose to have kids or not.
I hope that you have been able to care for you the way your parent should have! I am so sorry! I had it to some extent and it made me desperate in college looking for love I didn't get from my mom. I hope things have eased up for you. Reading your post made me hurt for you.
That's exactly I had in mind... Mothers will bring a kid to life but when u have so many they just dump it on the eldest of kid or the most responsible on.... It takes off the childhood from the eldest
It brought tears to my eyes when the man proposed to his fiancee & then the little child started crying hugging his dad. That was absolutely heartwarming
The 21 yr old….such a wonderful young man, sitting on the floor celebrating his b-day with his siblings. He was genuinely happy as he opened the presents and cards, and thanked the kiddos! When he picked up the baby and kissed her my heart melted.
Yep! Straight to parenthood. The biggest problem with that hasn't even happened yet. That part of childhood (teenhood) WILL manifest itself. If not now, when she's 25-30.

Lee and his wife are such good parents, it's so healthy that they never shame their sons for crying or showing emotions. And for teaching their kids to be self sufficient. Not that taking help from other or governments is wrong, but learning to provide for yourself is important.

@@TheBizzle1984 to me there is a big difference between parentification and teaching children to have emotions and be self sufficient. If the children feel as though that have too look after themselves and their siblings because their parents will not then yes it's not good. But in this situation I think it's more just teaching the kids to be strong an independent, but also know that their parents are there if they need them and the parents will still do the majority of looking after them. I could be wrong, only the children could tell us if they feel like they were parentified or not.

Fourteen children even with two incomes is evidence of criminal irresponsibility. Unless they won the lottery they were mooching off the system. And how much time could each child spend with a parent? Maybe five minutes? The older kids get robbed of their proper childhood raising the younger ones. There is something wrong with people who make such selfish choices.

I'm one of twelve and my childhood was amazing. My dad left when I was a baby and it was just my mom. She worked hard to provide and teach us right from wrong. We were never on benefits. We all did our chores to make the days go by easy. I really enjoyed growing up in a large family. We all really take care of and look out for each other. Even so, I feel like we had a lot of the same judgements when we went out or were in school. If anything it just made us work even harder to show people how solid and loving our family really is ❤️
How much in taxes are we really paying towards families on benefits? Compared to taxes paid to politicians bloated salaries, war, government mismanagement of money? Like, what portion of our taxes?
My neighbors have TEN absolutely beautiful children all under age 15. They are extremely respectful and just such a joy to be around. I am 47 and couldn't ever have children and currently I'm critically ill so having them has really helped to keep a smile in times of pain. They would visit me in the hospital, singing and praying for me. They would even fast because they wanted to know how Ms. Nadine feels since I lived on a feeding tube for almost 5 years. They are Mormom and both came from big families too. Dad works as a building Contractor and mom is actually a former Olympic runner. They had nine and mom even ran up until the last month of her pregnancy. Then with the Olympic trials nearing in 2020 was when COVID was consuming the world they made the decision that family was more important. She withdrew and 2 months later they announced they were pregnant with baby number 10 who will turn One in a few days. That pregnancy took a terrible toll on her and so she couldn't do it again. It's been very draining, when I up to it I try to pop over and help. In fact they will be flying in w/in the next 3 hours. They spent the Holidays with the dads family in a different state. My mom and I cleaned their house and stocked the fridge with food so hopefully they could get some rest in after traveling all day. They live very modestly in a 4 bed home and still help out others within their church when they can. I hope everyone stays safe out there and be kind to others.
It wasn’t the ex husband who said that. It was a guy she was dating. She got pregnant immediately and then lost the baby. We don’t have all the facts there. She admitted in a previous documentary that she is addicted to having babies, so she very well could have just used him to get pregnant after she kicked her husband out. Or he might just be a creep, we will never have all the facts so we will never know the truth of the matter.
It wasnt the father to the children that said that I think you missed where she said about her boyfriend she said she was single for over a year then got with the new guy got pregnant then had a miscarriage and then he left and sold a story. Pretty disgusting whether he wanted the baby or not.

I was annoyed for the mum with 14 kids. She’s not a single mum, she’s a divorcee with 14 kids. Calling her single removes any part of the father, calling her divorced, says, ‘this was not just me’.

I am mum for one child , becuase I want to gives her best and high level of education . May I am wrong but be working as full time and pay every single thing and even private education .so, that can explain the why.
🙂 I don't understand why women want such a large family. Six would be my upper limit. Having so many children is actually unfair towards the children you do have, as you won't have time to provide quality time to each individual child, the children won't feel special and expecting older children to help out with younger children would really rob them of their childhoods. My opinion only of course.
I was an only child and I am pretty sure it defined who I became later in life. Spent a lot of time playing alone, or with adults. I was extremely shy and introverted and still am. I'll never know if having siblings would have made me different. I was determined to have more than 1 child myself, and if we'd had more room and money, I'd have loved to have at least 6.

I Googled her while watching this because I felt bad for her & wanted to know if she was doing well. Soooo happy to see that she seems to be independent, happy, and a glowing mother of one (and the child seems to be 3 or 4 so she was in her 20s when she became a mother). I'm glad she escaped the cycle and didn't wind up a teen mom on benefits like several of her sisters, and her mother.
@Jinn Jinn yes I agree to a point... Growing up the girls in our household are asked to help with household. Now our eldest is in his mid 30s jobless and lazy. Our youngest got treated like a baby, near her 20s still doesn't do chores and has no street smart.
I feel sorry for Georgia Watson. She's 15 and being one of the oldest kids, her duties really preventing her to be a child herself. Look at her posture, I bet she's been carrying her brothers and sisters, which of course too heavy for her size. That's the problem with families with large families, sooner or later, the responsibilities of caring for the small ones fall into the elder kids. Yet the parents keep popping 'em out.
I think the only way her mom may start using birth control is if Georgia moves out. She'll no longer have her live-in baby sitter, and ex-husband there to help raise her kids and grandkid. If I were a eligible bachelor there, I'd turn and run if I saw her zeroing in on me.
I hope life takes her in the direction that makes her happy...I'm sure taking care of her siblings makes her happy, but she seems like such a sweet girl...and a Iot falls on her shoulders...let her be a teenager and I hope she find her own happiness.
Selfish parent. My parents pulled that on me and now wonder why i don't want kids as an adult. There's something mentally off with people that hep having kids anyway. We're headed to an environmental disaster on top of it.
The fact the kids are aware of the cost of living, easily able to forgo a personal luxury for the sake of a wedding is incredibly unselfish. That's life skills school doesn't teach. To be financially aware is the best start when they strike out on their own. Instant gratification is a struggle few of us manage to overcome. I wish all of these huge families every success.
No it's not a good thing I spent my childhood constantly worrying about our finances I wouldn't even bother asking for lotion or things like that half the time and was told that most vegetables were to expensive most of the time it can mess kids up if they know you don't have much money they will always be worried about if you can pay the electric and any other bills if your car will be taken if you will eat anything that's not pasta or rice they will feel horrible becuase there shoes are clothing is so cheap it starts falling apart and kids make fun of them if someone is poor the kids should never have to sacrifice things so the parent can get something like a wedding
@@hopelessheathen8190 but the kids wanted that wedding just as much, if not more. They were looked down on because their parents weren't married and they got a lot of negative comments. The kid can still have his trainers, only just a little later on. I agree that the kids shouldn't feel stressed out about money on a daily base, but this was a once in a lifetime event
@@exxwhy1645 isn’t that sad in its own right ? they weren’t as happy for their parents but more so that they’d stop being tormented with questions and ridiculed. i applaud the parents for trying (and succeeding) to make it work and don’t think they’re bad people at all, but those little kids aren’t meant to worry about the costs of living just yet. i applaud them for raising such selfless kids but we do have to recognize the selfish mindset the mom did have at first for her reasoning to having such a big family and kind of the expected outcome of their kids being fine with giving up things. again i think they’re great people overall
I commend both families on the unconditional love given to the children. With or without a spouse. I’m sorry for the ignorance of others. Please know the U.S.A. supports all of you. Sending loads of love and support. Don’t ever be ashamed of your lives. If others don’t like it or understand, it is not your problem. Stay strong and true and you will all be just fine.
There is a family on my block who I was told has 14 kids. That is the mother and father’s business. The only problem I had was one day waiting for the school bus with my only child one of the 14 children caught the bus with my daughter. It was a very cold morning and the little boy was not dressed properly for the cold. He looks at my daughter and tells her he wishes he was an only child too that way he would have the right coat on for the weather. This broke my heart. I say have as many children as you can afford to take care of on your own without having to rely on outside help. Life is not guaranteed and marriages break up daily. When you have many children and God forbid something happens to a parent the other parent now has 14 kids to take care of alone. It is not fair to the kids. My daughter has had the best material things in life because I was a surgeon when she was growing up and I could afford to meet her needs and sometimes her wants. When she was ready for college we were told that she did not qualify for any of the 80+ scholarships that she was awarded as a straight A student because they were based on financial need except for the sports scholarships and she did not have that. I gladly paid for her college education with no problem because when she was born I started a 529 plan for her education. In case you are curious yes I anonymously bought a winter coat for the little boy.

If you can't afford a large family financially, emotionally, psychologically - don't have it. Becoming a burden to those around you is not fair for them nor those who have to grow up in such large families especially if they cannot make it.

I honestly cried when he proposed and Dylan said " you don't know how much that means" us as parents have to understand the impact our choices have on our children
Why? Maybe is pure happiness when the child say so. Is like having dolls, it’s just a kiddo. You have heard few tragedies in life indeed... They are alive, healthy, fed, siblings to share all aspects in life... There are more unestable families with less relatives than this one
It is not uncommon in large families like that. Older kids are given one of the younger ones to look after. One family I knew let the older child name the baby they would be in charge of.
Bambam is right. It's not like you see them as literally your kid. They are little people you can love and care for and learn from and grow with. It teaches you how to parent as well. My parents are from big families and so am I. That relationship between those two siblings in all of our families is wonderful, and unrepeatable something like that special feeling of being a twin, it isn't sad at all.
When your older kids are sacrificing their childhood to help raise their younger siblings it’s time to stop having kids.
Jennifer Crown u ppl make it such big deal out of it ..I help raise my siblings Nd nothing is wrong wit me ..

True.
I don’t see anything wrong having a big family as long as the parents can provide both financially and emotionally for the kids.
agreed… having too many kids and then needing welfare to care for them is irresponsible and unfair to the government and the children… family planning has to be like budgeting… if you can’t afford more… then you need to be responsible about not making more.

Well done to the Hamlins. Can't be easy having so many kids and not claiming whatever you can for them, but they manage and it's thus, no ones business how many kids they have as they're paying for them themselves. You can see how much love and care there is in that family and the kids are a credit to their parents.
And kids are well behaved as well
I grew up in a family of 7 children.
Thank you for sharing that. I hope you can find your own path.
I hope that you have been able to care for you the way your parent should have! I am so sorry! I had it to some extent and it made me desperate in college looking for love I didn't get from my mom. I hope things have eased up for you. Reading your post made me hurt for you.

I feel sorry for the 15 year old girl, she has so much responsibility,
That poor girl, having her childhood stripped from her by selfish parents.
Yep! Straight to parenthood. The biggest problem with that hasn't even happened yet. That part of childhood (teenhood) WILL manifest itself. If not now, when she's 25-30.
She has no life poor girl...blame the parents...

Beautiful family, God bless them all forever
People will always talk and criticized. But the Bible says children are a blessing a very beautiful gift from God
Lee and his wife are such good parents, it's so healthy that they never shame their sons for crying or showing emotions. And for teaching their kids to be self sufficient. Not that taking help from other or governments is wrong, but learning to provide for yourself is important.
It is wrong for that other women...then looking for a man...stay at home with your kids! Its her fault her daughter got pregnant
But it is there when needed and not for lazy people which clearly they aren't.
@@June-tb4vi stay at home with your kids? What if that's not possible becayse of changing circumstances? Like that lady was married then single so things change.
Sorry, but that's bs. They're forcing the older kids to act as miny parents. They're going to resent their parents when they realize they never had a childhood.

14kids by 1 man and people calling her a scrubber 🙃 huh she was married for over 20yrs
Agree.... People are idiots, the only 1 who can judge her is god....
She's not a scrubber but they should both have stopped at some point as it's a disservice to her other kids. There's no way her and her husband could have given each of their kids the attention they needed.
He had kids too, he had s3x to make them as much as she did so how is she a scrubber but he isn't?
@@nocause5395 I couldn't agree more. Each child needs a quality time with both parents. How on earth will you do that with 14? imagine the noise all over the place!!! Grrrrrr!!!

Lee is a dude !!! What a man I actually take my hat off to him ! Well done dude your family is beautiful!! Big and loud and crazy but grounded with love
It was so wholesome and beautiful when he asked her to marry him; there was no ring and she didn’t even for a second seem to expect one or be disappointed it wasn’t there or be looking for it. That’s love.
Wow! I didn’t even notice he didn’t give her a ring!
I didn't even have a wedding ring. We bought some fake, animal shaped things in a Chinese shop and that was it. I didn't have a white dress, there were no guests apart from the witnesses and their partners (4 people in total), we didn't have a reception and flowers and we went by bike to the place
The marriage is about 2 people signing a piece of paper. The real big commitment is the one you renew every day when you choose to stick with that person and the family you've built
At the wedding she wore an engagement ring though
We wont hace a wedding ... but I love him, thats enought for me
@Gangari TheWanderer
Some might argue that real love is when you don't need to rely on marriage to make sure your love won't break. But go on. Just don't tell people what's the ''right'' way. You ain't god.

If anything it just made us work even harder to show people how solid and loving our family really is ❤️
Carolyn White In my country, you’d be on the they streets or dead. You are so incredibly lucky.
Its great if you do everything to provide for such a big family and your mom must be a really good person. You and your siblings too!❤
My grandma had 15. They never complained, it’s nice having a big family.
How much in taxes are we really paying towards families on benefits? Compared to taxes paid to politicians bloated salaries, war, government mismanagement of money? Like, what portion of our taxes?
Good for you, speak to us when you 40
My neighbors have TEN absolutely beautiful children all under age 15.

“Escaping the baby machine” what a disgusting comment, this woman gave birth to your 14 babies, have some respect for her mate.
it was the boyfried who siad that I believe
It was the jackass 'boyfriend' not her ex hubby John. He solely got with her & got her pregnant for press controversy. It didn't even faze him that she had a miscarriage and lost their baby he still came for her and her family in the tabloids. How shitty.

Some women are not brave enough to leave a toxic marriage with no children or 1-2 children.I belive she is a brave woman who knows when to put herself and her children first.
I don judge the lady for having so many children. I JUDGE BOTH OF THEM FOR HAVING SO MANY CHILDREN. That life must be really stressful, idk how they like it
Even after she divorced keeps trying to get more kids, that’s the problem.
If she wants that many children foster... adopt... do something.... mature. The world is collapsing under the pressure of our population and there are so many kids stuck in care... it’s ridiculous :/ and if you are going to have that many kids you need to work to support them
Malena Cazon that’s what you like, you can’t control other people.

I was annoyed for the mum with 14 kids. She’s not a single mum, she’s a divorcee with 14 kids. Calling her single removes any part of the father, calling her divorced, says, ‘this was not just me’.
I do get what you mean but that's literally the definition of a single mum/parent 'A single parent is a person who lives with a child or children and who does not have a spouse or live-in partner'. Maybe even saying single parent but children still see the dad idk...
To me she is a single mom because I didn't see the Dad helping I'm the daily routine.
@@Deekerry technically yes but I understand the commenter pointing out how the societal debate around single moms completely eradicates any talk about responsibility of the men. Could we stop shaming Jo. She is a homemaker, she has committed to raising and nurturing her children. Should she be ashamed that her husband committed fraud and left her?
She made the decision to have more children than she can handle and then made it her daughters responsibility to help her raise them. So yes she should be held accountable.
It's a lways the woman that gets the blame, like the man didn't contribute, typical, leave her alone!

She’s a Very sweet girl! I hope it all works out for her 💖
I think the only way her mom may start using birth control is if Georgia moves out. She'll no longer have her live-in baby sitter, and ex-husband there to help raise her kids and grandkid. If I were a eligible bachelor there, I'd turn and run if I saw her zeroing in on me.
take note they have a 21 year old that DOESNT help at all.
Wedding gifts should be for the kids, since they have had to make sacrifices for the wedding. The little boy just wants trainers.

What gorgeous kids telling their mummy how beautiful she looked as she got dressed for a dinner date with their dad. Kids are a blessing! 🙏😇
It's so kind of you to buy him the coat. I hope you and your daughter are doing great and staying safe.

This is why we have a bunch of entitled brats ,that think 🤔 they deserve everything! I helped my Mom with my brother, it taught me to be a better Mom to all of my kid's! She might want to go into a career helping kid's!
@@stardustgirl2904 shut up
@@stardustgirl2904 I agree the daughter can babysit the look she gave her mum is disgusting just because she was going out . I bet the dad doesn't get all this crap when he goes out after abandoning his children .The daughter should get of her high horse and realise she is part of the family and should act like she is .Most of us from large families have had to do babysitting ,cooking and cleaning and it never hurt us
I honestly cried when he proposed and Dylan said " you don't know how much that means" us as parents have to understand the impact our choices have on our children
If all father's were like Lee what a happier world it would be and to have a wonderful mom as well these children are blessed
One child saying the other child is like her own child is the saddest thing I've ever heard....
Why? Maybe is pure happiness when the child say so. Is like having dolls, it’s just a kiddo. You have heard few tragedies in life indeed... They are alive, healthy, fed, siblings to share all aspects in life... There are more unestable families with less relatives than this one
I hope the girl gets out and have a life of her own.
Yeah it is. She cant be a child herself because she is taking care of a child
Can we just stop for a moment and talk about how freaking cute it was that he was planning their wedding?
i’m confused, were they just living together and had 12 kids? or is she a step mom to them all?
@@kjuliette7662 yes, they had kids. You don't actually have to be married to do that. Lol.
That wedding scene was sooo beautiful! Such a wonderful family!
Hello how are you doing hope you're safe over there👋👋👋👋
Him getting married because he loves the family so much he wants to protect them, and be a serious part of their life is so cute!
