I burn 3000-4000 calories a day, and I'm currently cutting so I only eat about 2000 calories a day! Weight loss is slow but down 2 inches on waist in the past 2-3 months! Hopefully can get to about 85KG
Sometimes there is an overestimating of cals burned and overestimating of cals consumed, or underestimating both. I assume this could be the case here. Either way, losing weight slowly for Cavan is still good even if the numbers aren't quite right!
@@georgehurst4344 sorry only saw this reply now! I know it's dramatic but I've always had a hard time with weight. Obviously there will be slight inaccuracies but I can assure you it is fairly accurate. I wear a Garmin vivoactive 3 all day every day, with a chest strap for rowing since the wrist heart rate doesn't work at all with rowing or weight lifting and that. The weight and height is correct, and I've got a pretty accurate max heart rate of 222, which means that it's not overestimating my effort during exercise. Right now at this time today I've burned 3900 calories (2250 BMR and 1650 active). For an idea, today I have done 17000 steps, played rugby for an hour and did two half hour erg sessions. In terms of diet I am going quite extreme but it feels comfortable for me. I have one sausage, one piece of bacon, half a potato bread, a quarter of a soda bread and some beans for breakfast and then dinner varies. Dinner would definitely never be over 1000 calories and breakfast is about 600 calories. I drink quite a bit of milk every day as well. Sometimes I eat some more on top of that diet but in general I stick to that most days. I get catered that's why my diet is hard to control. So I'm probably eating between 1500 and 2000 calories. I don't have any issues eating that little, and it's working pretty well. I've went from 106/7kg to 98 currently, and I'm now just under a 36inch waist coming from 38/39. I'm happy and I'm just trying to get a good weight for the boat and for my health and then I'll be able to eat at maintanance again and yam on it because food is fuel 🍠💪 thanks for your interest and thanks for the reply cam! Just about to check out UA-cam videos now before I go to bed!
Cameron Buchan yes indeed! However I usually ruin it for myself anyway. I'll breeze through a pack of plain one's as you did and bathe in the buttery pastry goodness....and then ruin it for myself by having a full pack of iced ones (not on the same day, but the next week) and then I cant stand the thought of them at all for another year...
Hey, Cam! Would you mind making another video like this one, but this time showing the volume of food and quantity of calories you eat in a normal day? I've been struggling to count the calories I consume and meet the required amount.
Two questions. 1. How much time do you put between these meals and your training? I start to feel sick when doing anything higher than UT1 if I ate in the last 3 hours. 2. How much do you sleep a day? Keep up the good work 💪💪
There is less than an hour between smoothie and training. Maybe just over an hour between breakfast, lunch and training. I try to get over 8 hours a night
I have a few tips. I'll probably make a video about it at some point! Basically talk to a nutritionist, figure out how much you burn a day and find out how much you actually need to gain weight. I as surprised how much I had to eat to gain weight
Unrelated question but why do you sweep? Like other than the occasional time in the single you row sweep. I was basically just wondering is it because you prefer it or is it because that's what you have always rowed and you have just kept it on. For me I enjoy sweep but I much prefer the feeling of sculling! Not saying that sweeping isn't good, just curious at why you are in that and not sculls
When I started rowing it was always sweep and never really learned how to scull. Now I do not have the years to commit to getting fast enough in the single to compete!
I have no idea what you personally should eat. There are so many variables for us as individuals! You need to figure out how much you're burning and then decide what your goals regarding weight/strength are and work from there
I am significantly stronger than I have ever been so I can feel the difference. I can produce the same amount of watts more easily but its getting the finesse right which has always been key for me!
Goku would approve! Crazy calorie intake. I'm sure needing so much fuel, anything thrown into the furnace is good, I'm still surprised how much dairy you are consuming. Seems to be a lot of evidence showing bio-accumulation of a significant number of toxins, particularly from cows milk. Plus cows milk and cheese have pretty high estrogen content. Ever considered switching to plant milks?
I was surprised how many people did not get the over 9000 reference! You're right on all accounts. I eat a lot less dairy now but to be honest I don't really feel a difference between the two!
I wonder how strict are you guys handle the "proteine after workout" top?! I mean, if you might have a look on one of the fitness yt channels and they do a workout, they nearly die, if they haven't a proteine shake immediatly after their workout ;)
We are lucky to head right upstairs to food so that is our "protein shake" equivalent! If we know there is going to be some time in between eating and finishing training then yes a shake or other food will probably be prepped before
Nice one Cameron. Top international rowers obviously do not have to worry about their caloric intake...........!!!
I do.....

A 2000 calorie deficit is HUGE. Surely that’s too much? If your deficit was really 2000. Calories the weight loss wouldn’t be slow!

Cameron Buchan great way to word it. Your positivity oozes. And well done to Cavan on the weight loss too.

Yuh. This is the video that I wanted. Thanks!

nice vlog as always :)
keep going 😊
I am currently trying to bulk up and gain weight but I am struggling to do so. Do you have any tips? Plus what sunglasses do you use.

Ok makes sense!
Hi, I do rowing every day, and I'm gonna do a 4000 mt competition in August..
Im 1,87 mt
and 89 kg..
how much should I eat?
I have no idea what you personally should eat. There are so many variables for us as individuals! You need to figure out how much you're burning and then decide what your goals regarding weight/strength are and work from there
talk to a dietician to get you macros that's how i did it.
Good videos!! an authentic metabolic beast!! By the way, you look like Bjorn in Vikings in season 2. Regards from galicia (spain)
Well that's pretty cool! 😂
Does Leander pay it's athletes?
No Leander does not
So it's OVER 9000!!!!
(DragonballZ anyone?)
Knew some people would get it!
550kcal of protein powder? Is that weight gain stuff?
I'm guessing his using some sort of "gainer" i.e a mixture of carbs, fats and protein. 550 kcal of whey protein would be 100g of protein. Gainz
Not quite a gainer. An "all in one", very convenient!
@@CameronBuchan all aboard the weight gainz train. Do you feel a difference with the strength training you've done?

How's your nutrition on a rest day?
I try to keep it similar to training days. Not much less, rest days are for recovery need fuel to recover!

Good vid tho....I'm hungry now...😂😂😂
