I used to be in marching band back in high school. It really was super fun. Marching season was my favorite time.
I used do be in the PIT so I never actually had to march. IT's also known as the "Front Ensemble".
Dude Wazap Pit was horrible in my marching band because we had 8th graders be a part of it and the section leaders were worthless.
I was in Pit too. It was a good time.
Alex Cooper My high school started at 9th grade but our section leader was a sophomore and was actually a really good leader. Plus we worked closely with the drum line leader which was strict but made sure we were all tempo and already on time for practice.

In regards to accepting small amounts of students, some teaches/professors are still actively in orchestras,touring,recording and cannot be there for many students. It all depends on schedules and contracts.
