Considered cheap pastic tubing you could cut into half pipe for 'gutters' for the cabin as water collection surface area of that roof would get a *lot* of H2O
Would love to see you use that beautiful roof as a catchment for rain. You would never have to worry about water again with all the precipitation you get.
The cabin is beautiful! You and your Dad work great together. You are so blessed to have a Grandfather who was thinking of future generations and passing that knowledge and wisdom down to your Father and you. Don’t break the cycle.
I think the extended exterior sills add such character to the windows. Thanks again for another video, and God’s blessings to the entire Outsider family.
The attention to details, done with a feel for esthetics is making this cabin a treasure in the woods. I really appreciate you sharing this. Thank you!
That trim just made the cabin!! What a difference with it on. Having as much property as you have and the ability to cut down any tree you want, you are showing real/true stewardship of the land. Something you should take great pride in, many don't. On a side note, you and your dad look like you work well together and enjoy each other's company. Seeing that in your videos is a true blessing. Enjoy every minute of it (as I'm sure you do) that you can, the memories will be worth looking it! Keep the great videos coming, I enjoy each and everyone of them.
It's a hilarious party game. Keep making the landing higher until there is a winner. Much technique needed, but can get it well over head height. I've let go and pushed one up and it landed like a bird on something twice my height. Should be in the Olympics!
I have rarely posted but as a long time viewer (nearly 7 years) I want to say how much I have enjoyed watching. Your foraging videos and snowshoe videos were some of the first videos. There is something special about your labor of love in everything you do. Thank you for sharing!

You and your dad work so beautifully together. It is a joy and blessing to watch you two work. The cabin is looking more awesome in each episode. God bless you both.
I applaud your family philosophy toward forest management. My late grandfather was a sawyer here in Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania from the 30's to the 80's and held similar principles. He always stressed the need for thinking of tomorrow and leaving the forest healthy. (no better way to get him to spit nails than to clear cut an area and leave a torn up mess behind.) In the end, we are supposed to be stewards of the earth, using God given resources thoughtfully and responsibly.
The look of pride you had after the two windows were trimmed was awesome. Nice work Mr. Outsider, what a breath taking cabin you have made for yourself and for your family. Excellent job!
Its great that you get to work with your father and it appears that you work as equals on this project. Earning a dad's respect is a goal of every son. All that in addition to just watching progress on your wilderness cabin. Thanks for sharing.

It must give your dad so much joy to be with you during this build. I suspect that since you were a tot, projects with your father were commonplace. Your skills were not acquired overnight. What a gift he has been to you and now that he sees these gifts realized in his son…what could possibly be more gratifying to him.
You and your dad have got the cabin building down to a science, it looks really good and when you finish the cabin, you both can sit back and enjoy the work you did. I enjoy watching you two work together so well and the job is never to big to tackle, so good luck on the cabin.

Thank you, my friend! I was pleasantly surprised to see much of a difference the trim made on the cabin appearance. Anyway, I think I'll give an interior tour soon. It's pretty bare bones inside at the moment, but it's going to look super cozy when we're finished with it. God bless!

The cabin iz looking good, reminds me of watching my grandpa build one for my aunt about 44 year's ago, and it still looks good today. He used the wood on the property, and the logs were quite a bit bigger around than yours, he used a crane to set the logs. They used a wood burning stove to heat the house, and propane for the water heater, and regular oven. My grandpa never got a permit, and it's not on record either, but he ran electric back to the house. My aunt passed away, and now just my uncle lives back there. Just finished binge watching the whole series. WOW! What an epic journey! You’ve created a beautiful thing. I just love that you did this with your dad. 👏
That drone footage really drove home your selective logging comment - that was very nicely done! Please tell your Dad he's looking good. Thank you for another great video.
The drone footage really drove it home for me as well! Originally, I did the drone zoom-out shot to show how far I had walked to drop the tree...but as I saw the birds-eye view of the forest, it just hit me: "My grandfather has logged this entire section of forest for 75 years, yet it looks untouched! Amazing."
There's not that many videos series out there that leave me wanting more as ur series has. I love working with lumber also as I am a carpenter, but store bought wood is not as satisfying as milling it yourself. I'll just keep watching you do it. Thank you for taking the time to take us with u along this journey.
Thanks for the education on the forest and selective logging. You make logging look easy, with your skill. It's wonderful to see and hear about the smart way to live with the land.

During high school I read the Foxfire series; Teaching the ways and lifestyle of Appalachian people. Book 1 introduced me to log cabin construction. Though I have yet to build a log cabin that initial inspiration and my desire remains strong. Your series not only strengthens that resolve, it keeps that inspiration from my youth alive. I also appreciate how you teach not only how it done, but the philosophy behind caring about what we take from the earth.
I'm very thankful that you leave a way for any animals to climb out of the rain barrels. As an animal lover, I appreciate that act of kindness. I'm sure the other benefit is to not have your water spoiled by a carcass, but still I am thankful.
Keep up the good work. I really enjoy watching this channel. I am glad to see you and your Dad working together. That is one of the essential parts of Family.
The window trim is beautiful! Your Dad and you are true craftsmen. Thanks for allowing me to follow you through your dream. Ken in Peterborough, Ontario.
Your forestry knowledge impresses me. I had to go to school and work in the woods to acquire most of what I have learnt. And, where did you learn about building construction? You two do very well at it. I may well be behind in knowing your vocational situation. But I hope you don't give up the ministry. We need wise and thoughtful men to tend the sheep. And I have noticed through the years that pastors who have worked with their hands or at least had demanding worldly jobs are the best spiritual leaders. This is part of your seminary education. You are in class for these things, both for your ministry as well as for your life: Planning, figuring out, logic, practicality, working with people, problem solving, and many more things. Some like this and some different. I like every bit of the Lord that you have included in this. Without Him is no blessing or success!

A lot of hard work by you & your father have gone into this cabin and it's something of which you should be proud. Beautiful place. Hope your mom is doing better.
I have been following you from the beginning, every log and every screw that you have placed in this cabin has shown how professional you and your father are ! brother the cabin is the nicest I have ever seen, I love the fact that your grandfather managed the forest in the most sustainable form of forestry there is, selectively removing the inferior trees, thinning and letting the young desirable trees grow, it must be like a park in places -only better, not thousands of people stomping through, a little piece of paradise love the videos, kudos to you and your dad and thanks for the amazing journey that we call life and that we get to follow along, thumbs up
Im so happy for you and your dad to be able to work on this cabin together and have come so far on the project. Cant wait to see the work on the interior. Also, we appreciate the fact that we don’t have to worry about offensive language in your presentations. Keep sending the videos!
I have never seen anyone get a tree on stock like that, that is a really good idea
My very favourite You-Tube Channel , thank-you so much for sharing , you are a very adept film maker ! I remember the other bark removal video you did where you did a whole tree, the cabin is a work of Art
I wasn't aware of your series ending...I must say I'm glad it's not..I've really enjoyed watching and learning...thank you!!👍👍😎
A lot of hard work by you & your father have gone into this cabin and it's something of which you should be proud. Beautiful place. Hope your mom is doing better.
I'd definitely love to see the cabin someday truly wonderful hard work super proud I remember when you started!❤️
The chinking is so aesthetically pleasing. The cabin is looking amazing.
Love the way it’s all coming together. Can’t believe I’m saying this in summer but I can’t wait till Christmas!
😄👍 I'm with yeah! 🎄🛷⛄❄🎁
I have been following you from the beginning, every log and every screw that you have placed in this cabin has shown how professional you and your father are ! The cabin looks so wonderful and I am sure you are so pleased with your efforts so far.
Thank you for all your videos, I look forward each time for the next one, for someone who is confined to his bed through injury they are a lifeline, thank you so much.

Thank Trevor for loyalty in following us doing something we love to do.
Looking so great mate. The window trim looks amazing. Transformed the outside. Love your work and look forward to the rest of the build. A great accomplishment and I'm sure you'll enjoy some work out of the elements this winter!!
you have a level of craftsmanship few in this world can ever achieve. bravo sir.
Looks cozy from outside.
Its beautiful, your Mum would be so proud of you both.💖 And kudos to Grandad too🌲🌲🌲
"We're only halfway through the cabin build"... I wish you could have seen my reaction when you said that!! 😄 Even though you'll be having Christmas in it this year, I'm so glad you have more to do on it. It's my guiltiest pleasure on UA-cam, and has been for a long, long time.
It's looking amazing!
Them finishing touches are really making the difference from looking good to looking GREAT. Good job
Really something to be proud of!
Loving the finishing touches, l am so happy to be able to watch this build it looks beautifully put together. You and your father are doing a fantastic job. Bless all of you and thank you for sharing.
Thank You Sue!
@@senioroutsider2975 You are welcome
It is refreshing to see a man who loves Jesus and loves his family on UA-cam contributing to society and not just to be the center of attention. Thanks so much for all you do and God bless you and your family!
brother the cabin is the nicest I have ever seen, I love the fact that your grandfather managed the forest in the most sustainable form of forestry there is, selectively removing the inferior trees, thinning and letting the young desirable trees grow, it must be like a park in places -only better, not thousands of people stomping through, a little piece of paradise
love the videos, kudos to you and your dad and thanks for the amazing journey that we call life and that we get to follow along, thumbs up
Love this cabin - good skills 👏👏👏
Im so happy for you and your dad to be able to work on this cabin together and have come so far on the project. Cant wait to see the work on the interior. Im sure your mother is following the progress proudly from gods heaven, like my dad is following my work. Best wishes to you and your family. Stay healthy and safe 💪
I did not know cedar debark that easy, like Pastillas de Leche (Filipino Milk Candy). A lot of good information comes from this channel whether you are a seasoned woodsman, or interested urbanite.
Ah my morning dose of goodness. It's great to see the cabin coming along. I look forward to seeing the next episode. Thank you.
