The health benefits of Cissus quadrangularis scientifically or hadjod (Hindi) or pirandai (Tamil) are remarkable beyond being a calcium rich food vegetarian or vegan system followers can use.
The claims of Cissus quadrangularis medicinal uses in traditional medicine are very well validated by modern science and are much more than being one of the non dairy calcium rich foods. The calcium along with other plant phytochemicals results in the almost miraculous speeding up of Cissus quadrangularis broken bones healing.
Hadjod is extremely relevant among calcium rich foods for women for these very same reasons

As a South African of Indian descent we have sadly lost many valuable pieces of our heritage.I am so grateful to have come across your video teaching us from the basics, look forward to seeing more of your amazing content. ❤
Thanks a ton for your encouraging response. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull
Well explained
"sadly lost many valuable pieces of our heritage" - One of my friends visited the places in S. Africa where the Tamils and others follow our customs but lost the connections with their motherland. It is important to keep this connection alive by visiting, and inviting the other relatives, etc.
The westerners come to India, learn our age old methods of healing and market it big time. Yoga is one such thing. Growing up, nobody paid for Yoga, except in the cities. It was freely taught from generation to generation. People go to India, learn for a few months and get a certificate. Then it has grown to a billion dollar industry!!
When indians went to Fiji islands, they took this plant with them. We used it for bone healing
That's nice. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull
@@munchandmull Hello, does the plant have thorns or spines? Is it hot in nature? How to consume? Can stone prone people consume it? Also can uric acid patients consume this? Please guide, seems it has calcium oxalate?
@@drishtys use lemon or tamarind or aamchur powder to neutralize calcium oxalate which is found in most green veggies
There is reference of this plant in ayurveda which was written more than 4000 years ... In ayurved it is known as " asthi shrinkhla"
Thank u mam 💓 🙏...
Can u please share something for eczema as I can't take western medication my body simply rejects them n cause side effects. I would like to get cured naturally.

Thanks Madam for this vedio. In Sri Lanka we call it " Heerassa " I was looking for how to eat it. I was experiencing bad earaches from time to time in my childhood. Once My mother put two or three drops of coconut oil to this stem . Slightly heated it from coconut oil lamp and put it to my ear. It got healed . 20 years later one gentleman told me that if you use this for earaches will never return. Then only I realized that was the last time i had painful earache. 😊
Thanks for this interesting sharing. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull
thank u😊
Hi Nilmi, Thank you for saying the srilankan name. I was trying hard to identify the plant. I am a srilankan who lives in USA
Hi Madam, Can we give this to growing children ....my son is 6yrs...As I had doubt if the bones becomes strong they might not grow tall.
I have 2 varieties of this plant from many years. We use the crushed plant mixed with turmeric and apply it on the inner wounds, sprains etc.
My ayurvedic doctor told me he uses the paste of it mixed with turmeric as some ointment. Also we can dip it in the gram floor mixture and fry it. It is enjoyed as snacks. Thank your for sharing🙏🌷
Thanks for sharing..not had any idea about this plant..will get one and start using.. having started getting very severe pain in my knees.
Ita very good for non vegetarian, thanks
I usually make it with curry leaves, urad dhal ,pepper, red chillies, ginger, mustard, asafoetida, tamarind and jaggery. Once a week. Amazing. I also add tender stems while grinding dosa batter.
That's wonderful. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull.
Madam, you have explained so precisely.
Thanks for your encouraging response. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull
Eat beef and work hard under sun(no yoga) stay healthy, these propagandist will glorify anything to keep sudras as slaves for ever!!
Very nicely narrated and authentic information ❤❤❤❤
Nice , Usually I remove joints and slice with scissors and roast in gingelly oil with little salt. If we use our hands to peel , it is very irritating. (Roasting in gingelly oil and adding tamarind removes itching sensation in mouth.
Thanks for your tips. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull

You can try sourcing it from Amazon. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull
It's available in Amazon. Rs.200 for a plant.
I got a cutting of this plant, pather chattarpur, Bramhi, from my gardener friends, unfortunately after keeping for an year, multiplying, sharing with others, but never used, finally gave all away. Lack of knowledge n usage are just ornamental plants for city people like us
@@sunitachandra7736 we make chutney (thick paste for mixing it with hot rice and ghee) out of it. All you need is about 5 inch tubers of about five or six pieces. Joint should be cut and removed. Fry this in sim with little oil till it cracks and changes colour. Then fry in little oil the following one by one and remove keep it aside. 1/2 spoon black pepper, ginger 2 inches without skin, urid dhall 3 spoons till turns little brown, curry leaves hand full, grated coconut 200 grams. Now grind all the above by adding little asafoetida and salt to taste. Add water in small quantity to make it a thick paste. Also goes with idli, dosa, chappathi, curd rice. Prepare and enjoy the taste.
I've it in my rooftop garden. I can share a couple of mature cuttings.
This is the true and soul purpose of having the presence of UA-cam.

Mam can this be ground and apply on the place of pain ? Or should it be only consumed?
U get Pirandai oil... Apply that... Few pirandai plants gives itchiness so not much advisable, in my opinion.. For pain, u can grind good desi variety Pudina leaves and apply on the paining area for some time..
This knowledge for absolutely new for me, thanks a lot, waiting for more new herbs videos

Wow! I took a bit of the stem on my way for a walk from someone's garden and grew it for its aesthetic beauty, they had like a curtain of it in their verandah. A Few months later when I walked the same way, the plant was no longer there, so I asked them. They said they were fed up of it and uprooted the entire plant.. I was so happy that I had it already growing, didn't tell them though, it's a very rare plant and not seen it anywhere else, now I will especially go, show them the video, and give them a piece of the plant.
Thanks for this amazing information.😊
