- These days, finding a buffet that cost less than $20 became quite difficult, so I decided to go out on an journey to find buffet restaurants in Korea that is less than $10. In fact, one of the places that I went to only charged $5!

Dude, this guy is hilarious. I wasn't expecting this video to be this good. Most videos by foreigners are too direct/straight forward, he actually understand how to make a joke/make it funny.
I remember stumbling upon an 8000 won Korean all you can eat one year and was pleasantly surprised as the food was on point and in the one I went to in Seoul had a ice box with a block of ice and in the middle was liquid that you could ladle out a wee drink, it turned out to be a refreshing cup of green tea. Great to see that these types of restaurants has not raised their prices. Cannot wait to fly back and try out other ones. Love the content!
I thought the ice drink was going to be the rice drink (sikhae) which is staple in korean buffets
@@trstnhn 식혜 is more of a dessert drink. I usually down it after a meal, not during (since it’s fairly sweet).
Tea or water is the staple drink while eating.

It's about confidence... people gravitate to people who are more confident, joyful, and open. If you're quiet, shy, and sheltered, OBVIOUSLY no one would. Jimmy mentioned his weight when he was younger... could it be that he didn't have much friends when he was younger because he had low self-esteem due to his weight? I hate that about Asian culture (I'm Korean, too)... on how we care too much about looks and not about the character. Jimmy is clearly a great guy, but perhaps he felt lonely because people outcasted him due to his weight? Being Korean is traumatizing, I know because I've lived it and still living in it. Not much has changed.

Man I am jealous of places that have affordable buffet options like these. The cheapest decent all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet here in Munich that I can find is $40 per person :(

that's hella expensive, equivalent pricing as going to those fancy buffets in las vegas. in the US, even in cities with higher average income than Munich, buffets aren't overpriced like that.
@@trstnhn We've got stuff like all-you-can-eat conveyor belt sushi restaurants where you'll pay $15 per person, which would be the cheapest option, though not really a buffet. Also the quality of all of those is trash and the selection is limited to maybe 10 different items, three of which are basic maki. We just don't have a buffet culture here at all. Also, no buffet here gets close to the quality and variety you get in las vegas, not even the ones that cost ~100$ per person.

Great video. This might not fit your lighthearted content style but it would be cool to make a video about your (and others) experience in the Korean military. I've heard plenty of stories that it was the worst times of their lives so it would be interesting to kinda interview other people and also share your own experience. I will definitely try the1st and 3rd restaurant when we go back to Seoul next February. We want to a random K-BBQ place around Hongdae about 3 years ago and it was around 17K Won. The pork in Korea is just different. It tastes 'pure and clean'. I don't know how else to describe it. Plus people are so orderly and polite unlike in buffets at other countries (including mine).

We have golden corral, but yeah, the quality (and cleanliness 🤢) is massively better in korea
Wow, ₩13000! What a great deal. I'm used to spending $75 for AYCE in LA Koreatown. Granted, it's definitely the higher end of restaurants (the 꽃살 alone is worth the price), but it is still impossible to find a quality place for less than $40. I think it would be super interesting to let people know what the Korean names for the foods that you showcased are. Thanks for giving us a real Korean experience, Jimmy!
Oh yes I remember going to ayce kkbq in LA. They were actually decent and probably better quality than the one I went to this time. But too expensive for what it is in my opinion… 😅

Not sure if the restaurant is still open but Road to Seoul in LA Koreatown had great prices, and at least in the humble opinion of this American, very good food.

Pineapple on pizza is supposed to be a play on sweet/tart and salty/greasy. Kinda like a lot of Korean foods (galbi and bulgogi). Its one of the few ways Americans do salty sweet and sour. Definitely an acquired taste!
Similarly, pineapple chunks and pineapple juice is a common ingredient in galbi marinade

Honestly Jimmy as a food blogger is amazing. It definitely fits his personality and vibes he gives off.
As a Vegan, I would definitely eat at the 3rd location on a regular basis. I saw lots of freshly steamed vegetables, rice and lots of good side dish options. Only wish they had more Vegan-friendly foods like tofu or tempeh dishes.

I would say in my experience that korea is very vegan friendly in general. I think it’s because they have a lot of Buddhists in the country and they are vegan or vegetarian
