Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
Always glad to see old BM fans and reactors coming back to hear more of them like this new single now with official MV, I'm pretty sure everyone was looking for and is even one of SuMetal's favorite from this album. I like the progressive metal elements and that heavy breakdown. There's also a reference to Macbeth in the lyrics.
    Here's some official info:
    Mirror Mirror
    (MIRROR)
_Mirror, mirror on the wall...this song embodies a parallel world where the world inside the mirror and the world of reality go back and forth._
_Is what you see in the mirror your true self or the self you wish to be?_
The footage of this was taken from live concerts held last weekend at PIA Arena MM Yokohama - Clear Night, now with MomoMetal as the new official member, all of them wearing the new battle dress, and with the Western Kami Band slaying this, we're gonna have to wait for the live sound thou.
I noticed some people are getting some troubles understanding the lyrics so here's the lyrics translated with some help for ya.
Thanks for sharing this, the rest of the album tracks are already available in their own channel, so get ready for more blaster tracks and don't worry about copyright blocked.
See you next time and put your kitsune up!🦊🤘🪞
    Lyrics : THE OTHER METAL / RYU-METAL
    Music : RYU-METAL

    [Lyrics]
    MIRROR MIRROR
    Listen to my wish.
Who's the fairest of them all?
    MIRROR MIRROR
    Make my wish come true.
Who are you in the mirror?
    Double, double, toil and trouble.
    MIRROR
    Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
    MIRROR
Living in the mirror, what are you looking at? Because there is no such thing as a real self, beyond illusions, beyond even yourself, into a new world, here and now
    MIRROR MIRROR
    Listen to my wish.
Who's the worst of them all?
    MIRROR MIRROR
    Make my wish come true.
Who are you in the mirror?
    Double, double, toil and trouble.
    MIRROR
    Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
    MIRROR
Living in the mirror, I whisper to myself The real me doesn't exist, so beyond illusions, even myself.

Welcome back.🦊 This is not the first time they have strayed into Prog Metal - 'Tales of the Destinies' was on the second album as long ago as 2016.
The visuals on the screen behind them with the bird and stuff was the official lyric video ... if you want a video which has some sort of story rather than one filmed at a live concert that is probably the one you want to see.
If 'Gimme Chocolate' is still your main term of reference for BABYMETAL you have missed out on so much more ... and if you are only listening to 30 seconds or a minute of their songs (I think you have said that in the comments) you are really not getting even the smallest hint of what they are about at all and you will have been missing out on some excellent compositions ... and then if you haven't been watching (and listening) to their live performances you will have been missing out on 60% of what they are all about.
If you want to get your niece into metal sit her down with a full BABYMETAL concert - then take it from there...

Great reaction and welcome back to BABYMETAL.
And yeah, they have grown up in every aspect since the "Gimme Chocolate" days... it's been 9 years after all.
The big news of last week was the addition of Momoko Okazaki, stage name MOMOMETAL, as the new official member. Before that, they were technically a duo since Yui left officially in 2018 (although they only performed as a duo between late 2017 and late 2018). In 2019 they implemented a system called the Avengers consisting in three girls rotating to cover the third spot although they didn't have a singing role. Momoko was one of those three Avengers.
Their live performances are something else so they try to use live footage (did you notice the drone view?) as much as possible even on music videos. But we also miss a "proper" staged music video. This one has the studio track for the audio over last Sunday's live performance already featuring MOMOMETAL on her first show as an official member.
Moa, the one on the right on this video can play the guitar but she admitted she should practice more. Momoko apparently plays the kazoo... I'm not sure if that counts as an instrument but it's something, hehe... Suzuka plays the most wonderful instrument ever: her precious vocal chords. 😁
One more thing, I love key changes.
    Until next time!
    🤘🦊

The creative mv you're looking for is the official lyric video. I think they're doing this mv as a teaser for currently going on world tour. So people get an idea on what to expect on their upcoming live shows.
SU's pronunciations, I think it's already much improved from previous years. She's Japanese after all. Her English probably way better than average Japanese.
The "redaction" you're talking about, I think they are just additional speakers.
Hold on, what is the latest BM song you've heard before this? Because they created a lot of music. Even with the 2 years break, a lot have happened. Have you been missing some the great songs?

    • @nglswt

I almost play 100 songs every week and there are tons of songs I heard like 1 min or 30 seconds here and there by Babymetal. But to follow and understand the music that is tough to keep up with every band. I get a lot of people request me Babymetal but mostly it is same songs even we have strong community on making new tabs for the songs but live performance can be only limited to what I get aware of from chat. I think Shanti was the song I looked at entire video :) .

    • @gaplauche
      @gaplauche Рік тому +2

Yeah, this is video footage from a live concert. Those "redactions" are speakers hanging from the ceiling.
The lyrics for this song can be found in the pinned comment under the video.
      Su Verse 1:
      MIRROR MIRROR
      Listen to my wish.
Who's the fairest of them all?
      MIRROR MIRROR
      Make my wish come true.
Who are you in the mirror?
      Su Verse 2:
      MIRROR MIRROR
      Listen to my wish.
Who's the worst of them all?
      MIRROR MIRROR
      Make my wish come true.
Who are you in the mirror?
Plenty of native English singers are difficult to understand when they sing. I think Su's English pronunciation is very good in this song. One minor exception might be her pronunciation of "worst" not being as clear as it could be in the second verse. These lines are inspired by, not exact quotes from, Snow White.
Now, Moa's lines in the verse ARE difficult to make out, partly because they are distorted by some kind of vocal effect and partly because I think Moa drops a word and abbreviates others to make them fit the space in the song. The official lyrics are a quote from Shakespeare's Macbeth. So to my ear, Moa turns "Double, double, toil and trouble" into "Double dub, toil'n trouble" and "Fire burn and cauldron bubble" into "Fire burn caulduron bubble." It sounds like Moa is pronouncing cauldron with a Japanese accent.

Thanks for this reaction, Babymetal has been busy doing their thing all these years. This is the 4th album. And they are soon starting their 7th world tour. This video was made at a show in Japan, which is where they have their biggest concentration of fans.
Let me be very clear: this live video has the album audio, because that helps with the charts: every view counts similar as someone playing it on spotify, if Babymetal wants the live audio counted they would need to release a live album so it's connected that way.
9:03 I'm just glad I don't need to pay the electricity bill ! 🙂 That alone is gonna be crazy. What is interesting: they build such a stage for one show or 2 days and then never use it again. They don't tour with it, it's to expensive. I think cheaper to build a big stage ones and do lots of little shows without the stage.
9:48 nope, just their latest crazy show !
10:50 no, the theme of the show/tour/album has multiple Os, so they put that in the design: The Other One
12:07 I think they do that for improving search on UA-cam, but it's just a guess.
13:03 some of the scenes in the background are from the music video, it had a theme of life on earth or nature and humans
13:23 welcome to the Japanese culture and Babymetal crowds, especially Japanese Babymetal crowds.
13:55 actually, at least one of the guys from Metallica did do some of the dance moves (or maybe just hand moves) from Gimme Choco behind the scenes when they've met Metallica ones. Metallica was actually the first western band when they were in Japan to acknowledge that Babymetal is doing something interesting (their are western metal heads with Japanese roots or who life in Japan like: Marty Friedman, former of Megadeth who had already done so). That said, I'm certain James Hetfield plays better guitar than Suzuka Nakamoto/Su-metal... whatever, you know what I mean.
16:30 Moametal has had the most guitar experience for many years, but she is afraid to play it live on stage when in full attention, she said she doesn't practice enough to be good enough. Which is understandable, Japanese school life isn't easy and then practice and doing world tours on top of that. Babymetal performed at the APMA awards in 2016 with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. They played guitar for that, but the regular 'Kami band' played as well. The thinking has been the girls playing guitar were low in the mix if at all.
16:50 the growls are all studio recorded and it's backing track at a live show. The band play live of course.
17:45 Babymetal had Shanti Shanti Shanti from the 3rd album from 2019 which combines Indian music with Babymetal's flavor of metal. If you want a suggestion for a band from India: Bloodywood, they are also great live.
18:49 it's actually some kind of speaker system I believe, I've not seen this show up close and personal yet.
21:02 I would say this album is the best Babymetal album, audio wise, I think it's because the mastering was done by award winning: Ted Jensen
Hard to improve on something which is already very good.
But maybe you want to react to: Babymetal Death Legend 1997. That's the kind of shows they can do (earlier video). So show wise they can do lots of things, their dancing style has changed, but it's harder to notice by the untrained eyes. In part to fit how their bodies changed from when they were little kids to full grown adults and from experience and endurance.
One of the things Babymetal does a lot with certain songs: audience interaction, trying to get the audience to do things.
Yeah, that one I suggested has that too.

Ok finished reading it. Yes I know about Metallica meeting the band I remember that moment.
I did listened to Shanti song when it came out but I would say it not Indian cultured music, it have some Middle Eastern culture music too which is a bit stereotype of music genre created by Hollywood mind set. Indian culture don't use violins and cellos. And yes I know Bloodywood, they great friend of my Indian friend band. I haven't had conversation with any Bloodywood member but sure they are getting on right path for future \m/. I will try to learn the song and play the main riff at least :) . Dude thank you a lot for the detailed reply. Hope to get your response in future too.

@@nglswt Shanti3 is considered an Indian-influenced song by pretty much all fans, Babymetal doesn't say this directly though, they like to keep us guessing. But this is what Su-metal said: "This was the first time we’d performed a solo show outside of London, and I thought the reaction would be completely different, even if it was still in the UK. But overall, the audience in the UK was very enthusiastic wherever we went. That said, while always enthusiastic, reactions still differ from place to place. Notably, Cardiff is a city well-rooted with Indian culture, so when we performed “Shanti Shanti Shanti” in front of this 'home crowd' audience, it was absolutely amazing."... SU-METAL: "The overwhelming response to “Shanti Shanti Shanti” at Glastonbury was already entirely different from Japan, and then we got to enjoy the song’s atmosphere in an even more authentic way at Cardiff. I learned that songs like “Shanti Shanti Shanti” were born from this kind of city, and even though it was supposed to be a BABYMETAL song, I felt like I was in fact being taught a new culture." AJ Hartley did a UA-cam video on Shanti3 and had some guests with knowledge and origin in Indian culture. But I won't claim to be an expert. Their is a middle-eastern inspired song in the Babymetal discography though. Everything points to that the Bloodywood guys are also just good people, which is great to see. Even if I don't have time to write such a response, luckily their are others. 🙂

I have a feeling that if you are basing your BabyMetal experience on Gimme Chocolate that you have missed entirely who and what they are. This MV came from their 2 night back to back sold out concerts at Yokohama. It is studio audio (the LIVE audio is always better and LIVE Pro Shot videos with LIVE audio are drifting out)
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were only 11 when the group began.
All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life the girls would learn and train to be idols and graduate at age 15 to move onto whatever entertainment path they chose.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues) and Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
Suggest reacting to BabyMetal LIVE as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Suggest reacting to these for a start.

Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan
    Megitsune LIVE
Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro
At their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again.
