  • This movie was created with the assistance of UNDP-GEF-SGP for the project "Developing and Implementing Models of Zero Plastics Waste Mitigation and Management at Ward Level" in Pokhara 12 ward. The project is being carried out by the Centre for Energy and Environment (CEEN) in collaboration with Blue Waste to Value P. Ltd. (BW2V) and Green Road Waste Management P. Ltd. The project was carried out at Ward No. 12, Matepani, Pokhara Metropolitan City, Kaski, from February 27 to September 31, 2023. The intervention has had an influence on the collecting of used plastic waste from communities, as well as educating students, institutions, and business enterprises about source separated collection, recycling, upcycling, and downcycling.
This has demonstrated alternate solutions for reducing waste plastic generation at source, such as using water dispensers for bottle water and putting durable shopping bags and biodegradable (bio-plastics) into the consumer market. It has also prominently established a learning center called the Plastic Waste Management Information Center (PMIC), which has provided hundreds of people with access to knowledge of plastic categories, environmental and chemical aspects, and best applications for recycling and upcycling, thereby reducing harms. We would like to thank all the people in the project areas, funding agencies, stakeholders and Pokhara Metropolitan City and its ward 12 officials for making this happen in this short period.
