EDIT: For those acting in bad faith in the comments, I don't condone hostage taking, brutality, murder, occupation or anything like that. I am making the point that those who accuse others of being "terrorists" will happily use terror tactics upon those people, and still clam the moral high ground.
I put innocent in quotations marks because it was word chosen by that person. And as I explained, I have compassion for all people, even the soldiers. I am not someone that wants any violence or escalation of tension. I don't think it is ever justified.
However, those who are denied basic human rights are allowed the right to resist. That is accepted by the international community. As you'll see, I never claimed all Israelis think the same or act the same - merely that they are to some degree complicit - as are tax payers in the west who indirectly allow their governments to supply weapons and support to Israel for cynical strategic and financial goals.
I fully support the idea of a Jewish state, where people can live in peace. But I also acknowledge that Palestinians have been oppressed and unfairly treated. You may disagree, and think it's OK to deny them basic human rights, or lock up people without trial, while the international community does nothing. There are illegal settlements in West Bank and the international community does nothing.
The interests of Israel and its allies prevent any real change and tolerate the brutality of the IDF. That's the reality. You've created a false equivalent yourself, wanting to starve a population to death is not the same as having hatred for an oppressor. Hatred is an idea. Starvation is an action. And a very cruel and cynical one, just like bombing people to death. Acknowledging that does not make me 'Pro-Hamas' or 'anti-semitic' and it does not mean a double standard. The Palestinian mother's anguish and anger towards us (the UK) is perfectly understandable and not without cause. Whilst I am relieved that President Biden has finally decided to pause the supply of weapons, I am yet to hear that the UK Government is doing the same. Hopefully, that is simply because I have not seen it in the news and the decision has already been taken. The UK Government's continuous desire to lick the filthy American backside to make the UK look somewhat relevant is absolutely pathetic. That Palestinian mother's anger will be shared amongst other Palestinians and some of those may in the future seek revenge. This is what happens when our government fails to apply the same disdain to the Israeli Government as it rightly does towards Hamas. We end up making more enemies. That is the result of not having a backbone.
