I'd listened to his book via Audible while running. In the book he goes into detail on generating elasticity which he only just touches upon here. Worth a read/listen. Also good to finally put a face to the image I'd created of him in my head. My version was so very different. Haha.
@@RunningReborn_ShaneBenzie Oh Wow. Didn't think you'd be reading the comments Shane. Yes - totally loved your book. You can see the dedication and learning you achieved throughout your travels studying the art of movement from elite long distance runners in both Ethiopia and Kenya to working with more regular people. I've since recorded myself running and I have to say that I'm not the smooth Kipchoge like runner I'd envisioned.. haha. Trying to apply the concepts little by little but I know my posture has improved a lot and I'm thinking much more about it now when running. Thanks for an inspiring read / listen!
@@m3phist0 thank you. And great stuff, well done for filming your run. It's a real eye opener, but a great start point to see where we can improve. Keep enjoying finding your elastic!
I've read Shane's book. Always good to hear his advice. I get the impression that what you think you're doing whilst running can be very different from what is actually happening, hence why video is so useful. I'm going to record myself again soon and see if I can make some improvements.
I found this video extremely helpful. By watching this I realized I'm forefoot striking too much, and perhaps this is why I'm injury prone. I plan on being more cognizant of my footstrike in the coming weeks to achieve a much more centered, 'tripod', midfoot strike which should more efficiently dissipate the impact load verses what I'm currently doing. It's so obvious now that I've seen proper running mechanics in slow-mo. Thx for this!
The best running book I’ve read to date! I’m working on implementing this into my runs right now and it’s hard but starting to take hold. I do HR training with slower long runs and it’s definitely harder to run this way slowly compared to the faster efforts. I’ll keep at it. Great video guys thank you 👊🏼
Hey Stevo, in that book, is there something like a guiding chart for different paces? Because it seems like there is a lot of information about elite runner's running form, but not so much for guys like me, who started running 1/2year ago and are comfortably running at paces like 6:20min/k = 10:11min/mile
@@hannesaltenfelder4302 Hey Hannes, there isn’t to be honest and it is definitely easier to do at a faster pace. When i try it running slower it’s quite hard to get the bounce on it but maybe take the parts you can like the even arm swings, feet landing on the tripod below the body and standing tall etc. when your pace gets faster over time it will feel easier to do.
nick again repping the velocity nitro. you love to see it :)) also really, really interesting video. now I really want to film myself to work on my form asap haha
Amazing video. Thank you for doing it. Regarding the pod, I have never seen one that goes on the back. Is it connected to the trousers? And... If like you I am a heel striker should we go to zero drop shoes?
I have the pod and the Stryd pod. I have a bit of a problem with the coros pod because it gets a double bounce on the back of my shorts- Stryd pod works will with the COROS too though
Great insights! Just a shame, that for most people, watching a clip longer than 5 minutes seems to be quite a difficult task😄 I'm researching which watch to buy since 1month now. Candidates are: Fr945 Fr745 (when price drops) and now I try to get a feeling for the Coros pace 2 which seems to be a really runner-specific(great) watch.
Thank you guys, fantastic video. Really useful information, much appreciated. In my experience, changing habits is hard, especially the not so good ones :). Kudos also to Coros, i am starting to look at their watches, i have always been a garmin person, but i am really curious about the pace 2 and the vertix 2. Would you recommend to switch from garmin to coros?
If you have a compatible Garmin watch, pick up the Garmin HRM Run, Tri, or pro. This will provide you with all the same advanced metrics as the coros pod. Or Garmin has a pod also.
I had his audio book and was a bit disappointed by it. Same ideas I'd heard expressed better, in more detail in running rewired by Jay Dicharry. To me Running rewired changed my running style from a 1h30 hm to a 1h18 and marathon time down as I wasn't wasting as much muscle energy so fatigued later in runs.
…..but not sure about the ending?…yes, use the pod then if you want to look at it, then look at it,??…..WHAT?….was this just a video to promote a gadget to create more $$$ for Coros, lol….imo, if you use it then you should be looking at the data constantly!, just like in auto racing, they are checking the data every single run, no excuses.
Hi Stephen, we'd really recommend reading Shane's book. There's a lot of detail in there about how minor changes to your body position can affect your form and efficiency. One of those would be constantly raising a wrist to look at the watch. It also discusses how important it is to feel your run and tune into your own movement as much as possible beyond what a piece of monitoring tech can tell you in real time. Always looking at the data can take your focus away. And Shane makes that point here too in the video. The tech alone isn't the answer, it's a partner that can help unlock improved form.
What is the point of having this guy in such a video, he is mainly giving general informations about running, nothing to do with the watch's capabilities, I wish you had compared the datas obtained from the watch with Garmin's data to evaluate accuracy and even better use the video to check accuracy.....off topic
This is the kind of sponsored content I can get behind! Really appreciate the extended format.

Lovely stuff. Currently reading the book but I was struggling to visualise the 'cycling the legs' idea so this was really useful.
Glad it was useful.
Very useful information. Thanks for the high quality content.

Does Shane call out to your gaff with every purchase of a Coros Pod?
