Mam as a tamilian i would give you one suggestion add imili water it is the right way to make sambar and you wont need any thadka because we never do it .. so try like this once you might like it more just a suggestion other wise its too yummy and looks mouth watering to see

Hi Sambhavana your Sambhar looks nice but can b eaten as a variety of dal. Firstly Sambhar and tamarind pulp goes hand in hand. Secondly ginger and green chilli is never added. Whole jira is not added in Sambhar

As a south Indian, would like to point out that this is not Sambar. Validating the recipe saying its your style of sambar is not correct. Every dish has a basic recipe which has to be followed. Your dish looks good and delicious but shouldn't be called Sambar.
On Dusshera I made shahi paneer...... according to ur recipe without garlic n onion.....my children n my husband loved it so much... Hi Sam big fan of your cooking and i Do follow your cooking also.. Being half south Indian and eating Sambar since childhood and now making it.. Few things: 1. Bhindi is never seen being put into sambar 2. That is not sitafal it is pumkin, sitafal is custard apple which is a fruit and not a vegetable. 3. A sambar without imli and a bit of jaggery water is incomplete.. Atleast imli water should be there. 4. Please do not cool down the cooker this way, take a whistle less but let it cool on its own atleast for sometime, then take out its vapor manually. 5.Bengan is kept in water so that it doesn't turn black. Just few suggestions and feedback.. Rest all is wonderful
Snehagondhale1067 In New Delhi people do add bhindi in sambhar and I also like. Bhindi cauliflower carrots drumsticks and beans are my favourite vegetables go sambhar. Pumpkin is called Sitaphal, Kashiphal, Petha and Kaddu in New Delhi for sure and may be in north side too. My son-in-law is Telugu and he said about Bhindi in sambhar same thing, but now he likes it too. You try too next time. Good luck.

Mam, don't mind but many south indians are going to school you on your sambhar recipe..first of all sambhar never has ginger n garlic as it is..tomato paste is not made..no crushed green chilly is added...now u may argue i never said authentic south indian sambhar, but some dishes have to taste different..sab mai ginger garil green chilly paste, amchur etc daalne se taste same hota hain..kabhi aapke neighbour jo dosa khilate hai unse recipe pooch lena..

You keep brinjal in water before cooking to keep them fresh. Because it becomes black if you keep them too long after cutting them. In bengali we say beguner kosh beriye jaye.

Sahi kaha garlic powder hota hai. Ye log vlog me clear janta ko bolen ki masale me sab added hai . Without onion garlic bolkar confuse kar dete hain. Meri Chachi ne ak bar inka vlog dekh ase hi bevkufi karke sabko vrat me lehsun pyaz khila diya. Or agar sam mam ko kuch sahi baat bol dete Hain Kai log to sach nahi sun pati gussa hojati hai. this sambar also tastes nice but you should try the authentic recipe which is more easy to make add oil ,mustard seeds , jeera , crushed garlic, hing, curry leaves, and then chopped tomatoes, add littel bit water and let tomatoes cook meanwhile you can add spices which includes haldi, red chilly powder, gud, garam masala and once the tomatoes are soft you can add cooked dal and cook it for some time and then add water according to the thickness you want your samabr to be then cook it until water comes to a boil ...... you should give it a try it tastes amazing im from karnataka so this is the authentic recipe so please give it a try you will love it
Sambhavna mam. Your cooking is great . But sambar is made without garlic and ginger. In sambar tamarind pulp is added and if eaten with idli dosa tamarind is not added reason idli batter already is sour. For tadka if possible use virgin coconut oil or sesame oil.

We don't use Jeera in Sambhar.. Mustard seeds should be used..

Imli daalo. Sambar main amchur anf ginger kabhi bhi nahi jata. You can put methi dana.

Try adding imli water to this Sambar. It will be even more flavourful and closer to authentic. It's just a suggestion

Mam, don't mind but many south indians are going to school you on your sambhar recipe..first of all sambhar never has ginger n garlic as it is..tomato paste is not made..no crushed green chilly is added...now u may argue i never said authentic south indian sambhar, but some dishes have to taste different..sab mai ginger garil green chilly paste, amchur etc daalne se taste same hota hain..kabhi aapke neighbour jo dosa khilate hai unse recipe pooch lena..
Please add imili in sambar..amchur is not the alternative in sambar

I am from South. Sambar can be done in many vegetables including Bhindi.

You keep brinjal in water before cooking to keep them fresh. Because it becomes black if you keep them too long after cutting them. In bengali we say beguner kosh beriye jaye.

No imli ka paani? Hamaare yahan sambhar bina onion-garlic ke hi banta hai, but imli ka paani is a must for the khataas.. The vegetables can be missed, but not the imli..
Ma'am you hv good cooking skills and we enjoy your vlogs.....alot but one request Everest hv onion garlic in it's sambhar masala so don't use it in navratri or ganpati better use catch masala and also they taste better.....

Sahi kaha garlic powder hota hai. Ye log vlog me clear janta ko bolen ki masale me sab added hai . Without onion garlic bolkar confuse kar dete hain. Meri Chachi ne ak bar inka vlog dekh ase hi bevkufi karke sabko vrat me lehsun pyaz khila diya. Or agar sam mam ko kuch sahi baat bol dete Hain Kai log to sach nahi sun pati gussa hojati hai. this sambar also tastes nice but you should try the authentic recipe which is more easy to make
add oil ,mustard seeds , jeera , crushed garlic, hing, curry leaves, and then chopped tomatoes, add littel bit water and let tomatoes cook meanwhile you can add spices which includes haldi, red chilly powder, gud, garam masala and once the tomatoes are soft you can add cooked dal and cook it for some time and then add water according to the thickness you want your samabr to be then cook it until water comes to a boil ...... you should give it a try it tastes amazing im from karnataka so this is the authentic recipe so please give it a try you will love it

Sambhavna mam. Your cooking is great . But sambar is made without garlic and ginger. In sambar tamarind pulp is added and if eaten with idli dosa tamarind is not added reason idli batter already is sour. For tadka if possible use virgin coconut oil or sesame oil.
Imli ki not very good in arthritis isiliye woh imli avoid kr rhi so please yaar unko suggestions dena band kro bhut zada irritating hota
