depends on what you mean by "beginner". if you're making a movie, it seems you've at least started. what do you need help with specifically? I recommend Davinci Resolve as far as software.

@@CamJames beginner as in, I'm technologically inept. I'll check it out thank you. I worked as an actor, got sick and trying to get back in the game but before, your resume was mostly your headshot, now they want a reel..so what started out as reel footage is slowly turning into what feels like Taxi Driver and I decided that instead of waiting around for auditions etc, I better put the wheels in motion myself and then worry about following through 🤦‍♂️ so I've been searching for others interested so basically I'm doing the acting, the filming, writing, doing the "editing", location scouting etc etc. Mightve bit a lil more than I can chew.

definitely sounds like you bit off too much. i encourage escaping the audition rat race, by any means necessary. it's just as much of a draining pursuit as music was for me. not saying you can't succeed, but you absolutely need a strong plan B.

@@CamJames indeed, especially when most of the time people end up going with their Plan B.
As for the rat race..it's hella messy..I worked at an agency in times Square for background actors (law n order, csi, morning shows, MTV Disney etc) and there was no race or competition( unless its a big audition)..in fact, everyone couldn't wait to meet each other and network while stuffing our faces with delicious all u can eat buffets between scenes..(networking is so important)..this was before social media was the juggernaut it is today, and flip phone, cameras sucked lol. Eventually u meet someone who's working on a project ur good for and so on. But my curiosity and skepticism pushed me to get a job at the actual agency office..I wanted to find out what happens behind the scenes..so to speak.. and boy was it a dirty business. BUT, once you're in, getting consistent work was common as long as you ATTEND, NEVER late (or even cancel) and obviously, don't act like a fool. That was mostly in..BUT, if 1 day u don't show up on the set...it's unlikely you'll get work again (with them).
But that was a long time ago..then I had some health issues and I'm returning to a whole new industry.
I'm getting anxious just from the ABUNDANCE of resources from social media groups to hiring all kind of staff.. it's hard to seperate the real from the delusional. (I posted some shorts on my YT page, and yest I found the video of my 1st role which I also uploaded ) but I'm embarrassed to ask for ur opinion, just keep in mind, they're sort of like experimental rough drafts. Including the movie "trailer". Went out yesterday to get some more footage. Success. But the editing... 🤦‍♂️ lol. I looked at resolve, then premier and it's def for pros. The other recommendation I got (besides "stop playing around, grow up and get a fking 'real' job!) was CAPCUT which is supposedly free and for beginners..others call it "cheating" wtf? It's better than trying to edit on Instagram or Google photos/videos no?
What are you up to, if you don't mind sharing a little?

@@CamJames and also, what kind of music were you pursuing? I also dabbled with music but these days, the shady "record men" who used to gatekeep and scheme, are gone.. so you get more freedom and ownership of your own work. I'm sure there's much more to it but the internet was a huge gamechanger. It's a a new world
