    One of the best crews this channel has ever had. In fact I think the AC videos in general are my favourite from any airline featured here!

    You should rename the channel "Just Pilots". Maybe I'm an outlier but I enjoy cockpit videos that show the landing through the front windscreen from 500 feet all the way to touchdown. A shot of a pilot profile from minimums to the ground feels like my TV going on the fritz just before the last second game winning touchdown. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

    Quick question? How soon do pilots receive the ATIS and find out which runway to plan for. I use x-plane and I’m sometimes on the wrong runway and have to change the STAR sometimes too. Only get ATIS like 40-50nm from airport. Or do they sometimes get told before they receive the ATIS?

    • @The777fo
      @The777fo 4 роки тому +1

      Thomas Mortimore, you generally receive the ATIS electronically through the ACARS. We usually retrieve the ATIS a couple of hours prior to landing. Usually, an hour before landing, we’ll receive the most current ATIS and brief for a landing on the expected runway. You can also receive it through a dedicated radio frequency once you’re close to the airport. While the ATIS will indicate the expected landing runway to use, it is subject to change....especially coming into YYZ. The STAR that you are expected to arrive in on is planned and filed by dispatch and built into the FMS. That generally doesn’t change.

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 4 роки тому

      S Craig so sometimes the runway change means a STAR change will you have to direct yourself or will ATC vector you? Or I suppose if the runway changes and you have time you can change the STAR? I can see most American airports each STAR covers multiple runways but not so the case for Europe

    • @georgeg9891
      @georgeg9891 4 роки тому

      The trick is to find the ATIS before starting your descend and check the next TAF to see if you can expect a runway change due to a wind change. You narrow it down to which runways can be used and then you have to have a bit of knowledge in order to realistically know which runway is in use. AKA listen to the real ATIS on LiveATC.

    Why does 1st officer land plane. Then capt takes control after landing?

    • @camagnew9191
      @camagnew9191 4 роки тому

      Paul Whitear: Flight Crew take turns flying. One leg the Captain takes off and lands aircraft, return flight the 1st Officer takes off and land aircraft. Once aircraft lands...the other pilot taxies to gate. Not all airlines follow this format...each company have their own protocol.

    • @backswing7221
      @backswing7221 4 роки тому +3

      @@camagnew9191 You are correct about taking turns but the reason for the take over of control on the ground is that that some, if not most, aircraft do not have nose wheel steering capability on the side of the second in commend.

      @@backswing7221 the 777 does have a steering tiller on the first officer’s side, as well as the captain’s. Allocation of duties just varies from company to company.
