This maestro has the most detailed and complete how to videos and patterns. I've made two of his other hats, Kepi and flat cap. and he is very helpful and responsive.
I've been waiting for this pattern for years!!!! Bought and will get started soon. I really appreciate the tip right at the end to make it "more flat"!!
@@DieselpunkRo Tony I normally do not critique your work as I'm a big fan and buy many of your patterns. The quality of this pattern is good, however, the hat itself is very round and most people have rectangular shaped heads. I made this hat and was so excited, but unfortunately the sides are very puffy pillowy and do not give a sleek look. I think there is too much extra material on the sides. This is the case whether or not I use the trick at the end of making it more flat or not. I used the 62cm pattern. Maybe it's the style, but I was hoping for more of a baseball hat look/feel.
Wonderful! Thank you for such an awesome tutorial. Will you show us in another video how to line the inside like you did? It would be very helpful for those of us who are still pretty new to leather work and who want to elevate this gorgeous pattern for our clients.
Hi Tony i have been watching and making your hats now for a couple of weeks and your videos have been very helpful Great Job! My question is do you add sweatbands and if so do you have a video on how to make sweatbands? where i live it is very hot most of the year so sweatbands are a must. Thanks
I would love to see a video of you using your machine. And your thoughts on machines and what order you would buy them in . EG sewing machine , bell skiver, splitter....I'm getting older and I'd like to occasionally speed things up.
Tony, I am just starting up a home leather working business. If I buy a pattern from you, am I licensed to sell the product I make from it? By the way, thank you for the time you've spent teaching us how to craft beauty! You are a wellspring of inspiration. Your tutorials have excited me to the point of getting off of my lazy ass and enjoying creativity once again! I owe you a debt of gratitude good sir!
Hi Tony, how many of these hats did you make? I noticed in the non members video that you are holding a lined hat and wearing one also, Just curious. I love this hat and will make one after my moccasin build. I love all your patterns keep up the good work.😎🤙
I have a nice piece of elk that I plan to make into a flat cap...but your plans won't help me a bit, because your plans are for a newsboy cap, not a flat cap. Why do so many get it wrong? The flat cap has a piece of material that lies flat on the top of your head (with sides and bill attached), while the newsboy is made of a number of triangles meeting in the center. NOT A FLAT CAP!!! For anyone who doubts me, watch this: ua-cam.com/video/KVox3dhwzfk/v-deo.html The reason I'm particular? Because I don't like the looks of the newsboy, and would never own one. On the other hand, I have plenty of worn-out flat caps (and a couple that are still wearable). I'll probably end up disassembling one of the old caps, if I can find the right one...some designs are better than others. I doubt you'll correct yourself, and I'm sure you won't do the right thing and make a genuine flat cap pattern, so why am I still hanging around your channel? To be honest, I don't know why I'm still subscribed...you sell the patterns for more than I would be willing to pay, and I don't like the amount of decorative lacing you use. I've been slightly entertained by a few of your videos, but seeing your channel pop up in my feed just irritates me--I'm not getting enough out of the time I spend on your videos....so I guess it's time to just put you on the "do not recommend" list.
As someone who has made my own leather stuff, designing and making the pattern takes a LOT longer than making the actual leather piece. Tony's patterns are very well done and easy to understand, AND he makes a UA-cam tutorial to follow along with. If you aren't willing to pay the $10-$20 for that, this isn't the hobby for you.

Yay! The new one. Been looking forward to this one :)
Your hat had a lining is this hard to do? I just saw your reply to the same question. Thinks for this utube and the pattern I purchased.
If I don't have computer to printout the pattern how can I do.

Did you see Tony's original pattern of the Flat Cap? It's still listed on his Patterns page.
Don’t louse up one of my favorite channels with negative remarks!
