I've had the transition knee pads for 2 years and I ride 4 to 5 times a week and they are still in decent shape. Ordering these Sam Hill based on history and your review. Looking for extra side knee protection

not sure, cant say i have ever tried wearing pads over a base layer.
Looks like you might have tried their elbow pads as well? If so how were they?
I like them, they always work great . They also go on my son who can use them as knee pads
the trouble is, no one seems to know which pad is left & which is right. There are no markings on the pads to show this. I've them worn on many videos with the label inside & others with the blue label on the outside. They each feel a different shape so I think they are "handed". Any one here know>
I thought that was really weird as well, but to be honest, I dont think there is any difference between the left and the right. Ive used them both ways without issue.
You should be goint uphill like all us janky bros out there, wear those knee pads pulled down off your knee LOL this way you dont have to muck around on the top and hold up your buddies while you take your shoes off/on. Tho I am serious about that. That is how I wear my knee pads all the time on longer backcountry rides or rides with long uphills. No sense in carrying the weight on the back and having to monkey around at the top. My friends dont wait for no one, neither do I LOL
