- Опубліковано 12 гру 2019
- I handmade a minimalist ring using 14 karat rose gold wire and a rose cut moissanite center stone. Documenting the process from start to finish.
Materials used: 1.50mm wire, solder, and a 5mm colorless rose cut moissanite.

Rose cut jems are just *chef’s kiss*. I love them so much but they are so underrated!
It is a vintage shape
This ring. I love it. So simple and so beautiful.
Rose cuts are making a comeback. I’ve always loved the way they look. Many years ago I inherited a huge mine cut diamond which I had put into a heavy gold ring. A grader from the GIA told me that it was probably cut before 1800. I love it and wear it all the time.
Love the minimalism. The editing probably took longer than making the ring!
Idk bout that lol
I actually disagree with everything about this. That was a quite a bit of tools and detailing
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this design! So simple and elegant! And displays the jewel beautifully!
Also: if this video lasted 3 hours I still would have watched it!
Sometimes, simple really is best. What a great choice to highlight the beauty of a rose cut gem!
I am so addicted to watching your videos now. Everytime you start in with the hammer, I panic thinking ‘Oh gawd, this is where it gets ruined’ then it always comes out stunning!
For me it is squeezing the prongs
I'm always nervous he'll get his fingers with the file or other tools.
Rose cut stones have a special ace in my heart... About 23 years ago I inherited my grandmother's engagement/wedding set. A jeweler did a minor repair and asked me the history of the well worn set. Then he told me that based on the style and rose cut center diamond on the engagement ring that the set was more likely HER grandmother's set, dated cir. 1900. (She wasn't born until 1919)
I am hoping one day to have the set restored (center diamond is very loose because prongs need retipping, plus the set was soldered together and due to wear and that many fine details have been worn away/hidden). More likely will pass it down to someone in the family who will be able to get that done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to the Goldsmith.
Perfect sequel to the Rings of Power :) Love the note "by Sauron" lol
I have a copy of “Goldsmith secrets” too! Kind of tough having to give up my firstborn child for it - but totally worth it in my opinion!
Who wrote the book? Can't find any info on it
Unusual, don't think I've ever seen a rose cut!
beautiful ring, i wish there were more jewelers like you.
Sauron wants his book of secrets back.
So mesmerized by this whole process
Oh how I love a rose cut diamond. They are so underrated. 💙💍
Such a pretty ring. Simple, elegant, timeless.
A beautiful ring. Really enjoyed watching you make it. Absolutely stunning result at the end. 💍💚
It's perfect. Simple and beautiful. I love the rose cut with the detailed edges.♥️💍✨
beautiful video, really clear. i'm so happy to see that there are such good goldsmiths
Beautiful ring, beautiful rose cut diamond , enjoy watching the process , lovely
Wow I really liked that setting. Yes, I'm also binge watching them all, Jordan!
Love the simplistic look to this … LESS is MORE in this case … just love it ❤️
I love this ring. So simple and stunning.
That is awesome. Your passion for your craft is other worldly.
Loved this video!! I'm a beginner silversmith and I was watching this in awe. Going to try out my own rose cut prong ring now! :)
Beautiful ring.
Wonderful work.
Thank you for sharing this and I love rose cut stones, too.
What a beautiful simple classic ring
Absolutely gorgeous!
This is so cool! Have you ever done a video on ring maintenance? I got engaged in August. My ring is from 1910(ish), and an emerald, which I know are particularly soft. I just have no idea how I need to maintain it. There are also 6 very tiny diamonds in a platinum halo around the diamond which I’ve been told will need to keep an eye on because they could get lost easily. I just have no idea who to even go to about this? Or how often that needs to happen?
He has a video all about that. It's called Replacing a Stone. Your ring sounds gorgeous!
Of you find a goldsmith or jeweler in your city, they can clean and polish it for you! I would say do this no more than once a year because polishing does remove a small amount of your jewelry but makes it shiny and brand new looking :)
Ahh your ring sounds beautiful
Such a gorgeous ring. Been doing more research on rose cuts and can’t believe they aren’t more popular!
It's probably because the cut is hundreds of years old and from a time when gem cutting techniques weren't nearly as good as they are now. It's also not as attractive as a gem, normally a diamond, with many facets because having lots of facets allows for more light play and colors. However, I like the cut, and I think it looks good on any stone, even if there is not as much light play. I particularly like it on black spinel and other black gems.
Rose cuts actually have risen in popularity in recent years. If you look online you will see them well represented among the more fashion forward jewelers.
@@Shock_Treatment To me, rose cuts are more poetic and beautiful than the brilliant cut. I guess I find modern cuts to look brash.
The making of the ring and the editing was spectacular! Great job 👍🏼
Love your films, THX!
Pretty ring. Simple and appealing.
WONDERFUL I really ENJOYED the whole process 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
You're a great story tell! Keep those videos coming!

Very well made, ring and video. 💕
Mesmerizing 😍
So beautiful
So lovely
Single diamond looks very elegant.
perfect way of working, I like your way of working, greetings from Indonesia 😊👍🙏
I love it. 😍
What a lovely simple piece. Love rose cut stones, a refreshing change from the plethora of round brilliant cuts out there. I wish you were nearer, I’d definitely commission a ring from you.
Yes. I'm in love with his OEC ring but the import fees to the EU are to steep for buying it.
Very nice. I like this setting way better than rings that have the diamond pertruding high above the band.
lovely ring
Thank you Jay Kay :D
Much prefer the handmade personally, looks so pretty and dainty
Really got a curve on that torch tip!! Do you do that to all of them? Is it just to be able to hold the torch at a different angle?
Amazing: thanks ^^
That was incredible! Keep up the amazing work and keep making videos!
Thanks for the kind words! I most definitely will.
She's right 🤩
These remind me of an old European cut. Can only pull this off with a really clean diamond because you will see all the flaws. I love the simplicity.
Thanks to your content, i was able to make my gf 2 rosegold rings
Number 3 is on the way, with a 0.6ct diamond, sure hope i di´ont fuck it up
Very good beautiful
Lindstrom cutters 👌
Beautifully simplistic and absolutely gorgeous! Almost wish I'd seen this ring before getting my engagement ring. My ring has the solitaire setting, equally beautiful diamond, just not as much pizzazz. Lol
So interesting ✌️❤️
hi, thank you ;)
This ring is so gorgeous.
Hey! I've always wanted a braided ring, like a braid around my finger. Would this be possible and how would it look? I'm conserned about the tightness of the braid... Thanks for great videos!
He has a video on the "knot ring" I suppose it would look *kinda* like that unless he prints the braid with the 3d printer and then fills the mould with gold
I know this is late but a wire braid is easy. Just use a lighter gauge than here and make sure your wire is well annealed, and re-anneal as needed. You can put the ends in a vice, a pin vice or a spring clip to hold them. The braid can be as tight or loose as you want. This is wire....it stays where it’s put. Obviously the smaller the gauge the tighter it can be braided. When you have enough braid, measure what you need (using a ring mandrel), cut, solder, and finish.

Ohhh nice 😍😍😍😘😘
It looks so delicate. How well would something like this hold up everyday? Iv made silver rings and set stones in them and want to try this.
Hi, I love this, beautiful job. I'm a jewellery student just branching out to setting and love rose cut gems. Can I ask what are the sanding papers/discs called for your micro motor - the ones that you used first. And the sanding drum? I normally use a split mandrel and add my own sand paper, but yours look more solid, what are they called? Thanks in advance!
Do you make your own music for your videos? I'm digging it
I have gold jewelry and some family diamonds I want to be created into a new ring and I love your work! I would love a consult and quote.... how do I go about doing that?
Dumb question but do you have a store . Love your pieces and would love to get tt this ring for my daughter in law for birth of their beautiful baby girl
Hi. Nice ring. How do jewelers buy gold for projects
May I say that you make some beautiful looking rings and other jewelry to I have sat here watching you UA-cam video..and watch you make some beautiful things like this ring here ...see I love art deco style rings and this one I love...my question is how much would a ring like that cost.
How can you call the technique at 5.38 and what's the reason that you use it? Great video at all.Keep going
Very nice. What is the band"s width? What is the carat weight?
Do you use oxyacetylene? Also what kind of flux and solder do you use?
What gauge wire did you use?
When you hammer the wire you changed its shape.. I like it round
I want this ring
I have a question for you. I have a beautiful eight carat tanzanite set with diamonds all around. I would like very much to enhance the color a bit. It is in the Violet range of colors. Is this something that can be done once the ring is set? Thank you. I also have a lovely ring that consists of my grandmother's two engagement diamonds, my mom's half carat diamond, and a few chips. I might possibly have some other diamonds around and was wondering if we could speak about the possibility of making something modern out of it. They are all set in one ring and I don't dislike the setting but it has broken. It's also a bit big for the top of my finger so I thought maybe we could talk and we might be able to come up some ideas. Right now the priority is finding out if I can treat the untreated tanzanite. Thank you.
Hey I want to make an engagement 💍 for my girlfriend but where do I find genuine 14-18k gold wire from? I'm looking to buy a foot because I'm going to try a braided style. I think solid yellow or rose but I've thought about filled as well. Any tips on supplies to use for a small project or vendors? Thanks
How do you hallmark the ring ? Thanks
I really want to get an estimate from you for an engagement ring and 2 bands. What’s the best way to get a quote? And what’s your typical lead time? Thanks.
Do you think you can make this same ring with like a big oval diamond, would that still work?
This may be a dumb question but does an oval rose cut diamond have a bowtie like brilliant cut ovals?
Pues páramo esa piedra es un brillante o diamante y pienso q merecía una mejor pieza
Can sterling silver be worn next to gold? I heard the silver ruins the gold, is this true?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
What are the two liquids you put on the rose gold to solder is like that in the beginning? I’m planning to make my engagement ring this week! I would greatly appreciate the help! Thank you
And also whatever was brushed on when you attached the setting/basket to the band. I’m sure these are all some sort of soldering flux type of thing, but I would love to know the exact names of what you used here. I’ll be doing 18k rose gold as well. But may be doing 18k white gold for the setting/basket.
Can anybody explain what's happening with the paintbrush at 3:48 and the solder bead (?) that forms up on the table right after?
Why is the tip on the little torch bent like that?
